Erin frowned a little when her mother mentioned seeing Michiyo every day. He knew that wasn't a possibility, but he let it go by without comment. He nodded at her direction and shuffled from the room along with Michiyo. Once they were in the hallway, he immediately looked to her as she whispered.

"I don't know...I..," Erin was at a loss.

All kinds of heinous things flew around in his mind, things the Order could have possibly been the cause for. Did they fabricate memories of Michiyo being there for all those years? Did they fabricate a version of Michiyo herself, to replace the young woman? Or was it the Leprechaun playing tricks? The worst thought possible crossed his mind then. What if while Michiyo has been away, her mother passed on. If the Leprechaun fabricated a fake version of her dead mother, would...this be the result? He bit his tongue hard at the thought. Suddenly his stomach started to churn, and he felt very nauseous. He walked a few steps towards the Common Room with his hand trailing the wall for support. He stopped again and waited for Michiyo as he stared ahead blankly. Please...anything but that. He shut his eyes tight and hoped that wasn't it. It would be completely his fault that Michiyo had to hear that sort of news, since he gave her the wish. He wouldn't be able to handle being responsible for that.

Michiyo was barely even aware of Erin's distress, as she was too caught up in her own million-a-minute thoughts. On the plus side, the shock of seeing her had been very beneficial to her headache, which had lessened to a dull ache. As she stumbled forwards past him towards the Common Room, her mind was going over the possibilities, not one sounding even remotely plausible.

It wasn't until she reached the doors to the Common Room that a very distressing notion presented itself, freezing her in her position, hand hovering over the door handle. If - as she suspected - her mother was here because of the wish... what would happen when Leprechaun left? Was there a duration on wishes? Would she just... fade away, without a chance to say goodbye?

Suddenly, she felt angry and frustrated, and threw the door open with enough force to have it hit the adjacent wall with a slam, before storming inside. This was worse than never seeing her again, she decided, heart wrenching itself in a twist in her chest and tears once again presenting itself in the corners of her eyes, "Why did I make that wish?!" she blurted out angrily, to no one in particular, though rounding on Erin when he followed, "She wasn't supposed to appear! All I asked for was a plate of food!"

With a aggravated sigh, she let herself fall onto the couch, "I can't do this...," she muttered, a defeated tone taking charge of her voice, "Saying goodbye to her once was unbearable... I... I can't do it again."

Erin was snapped out of his thoughts as the Common Room door slammed hard against the wall. He hadn't even noticed Michiyo move ahead of him, and when his eyes snapped up he saw a flash of her as she stormed inside. Straightening up and putting aside his nausea, he jogged after her. When he caught up she was yelling, about the wish and how it had gone wrong. He stopped short when she rounded on him, afraid that she was angry with him. Truth be told, seeing her in such distress, he was angry with himself for the outcome of things. He was trying to be nice, but somehow it turned out all wrong. It felt in that moment like deja vu. Here he was, making terrible mistakes again.

"Michiyo, I didn't- I'm sorry-" he reached his hands out apologetically.

When she fell to the couch and her tone changed to one of defeat, Erin slowly walked over and sat next to her. He looked at her with sad eyes, not only because of the expression on her face, but because of the lingering sense of foreboding in the back of his mind. Though he still felt sick from it, without hesitation he wrapped his arms tightly about Michiyo's body, embracing her with what he hoped was a sense of security. One of his hands reached up to cradle the back of her head gently as he spoke.

"This time it will be different," he said quietly, "This time you won't have to do it alone."

[[ Ah, we go from happy to sad in a flash, don't we? XD We're here to please~

Kiah - That... sounds wrong somehow (the watching us part) 8D And yes, I think she was due some torturing. At least she has her beau? XD ]]

She leaned into him when he embraced her, though it was a passive movement. There were already so many emotions rushing through her that she had no energy to feel anything extra about it. "It's not your fault," she muttered in reply to his apology, "They all said you shouldn't trust a Leprechaun." She let out a short, mirthless laugh, "And here I thought for a moment that he had actually honored my wish properly."

At his quiet promise, she rose her head, sitting up straight and moving slightly out of his arms. While his words had been kind, it promised something that he would never be able to deliver.

"I... I don't want to sound... mean, or unappreciative, or... or whiny," she started, giving him an apprehensive look, gauging his reaction, "But this time won't be different. The feelings won't change. I'll miss them, like I do every day, but now the wound will be torn open again, bleeding afresh, feeling like I'm sixteen again and away from the only home I've ever known."

She paused, sorting through the words to try and find a set that won't make it sound awful and harsh. "It'll... you'll be a distraction from that, like you've been already, and a welcome one, but that won't make the pain any less."

[ xd We are bipolar. Her beau.... sweatdrop Ha. ]

Erin could do nothing about the sharp spear that pierced his heart and lungs at her response. The amount of frustration that boiled up within him in that moment threatened to burst from the damn, but he controlled himself and gave no outward indication of his feelings. He swallowed hard and dry, willing himself to see it from Michiyo's point of view, to try and understand. He tried to justify her response, telling himself he would probably feel the same way, that there would be nothing anyone else could really do to quell the pain. It still didn't stem the flow of frustration and defeat.

"Right...I understand," he replied with as much sincerity as he could muster, though it probably came out sounding more flat than anything.

He removed his hold on her and brought his hands to rest in his lap as he turned forward on the couch. He pushed back the single sleeve of his sweater and pretended to check the time on his wristwatch.

"I have to go get something from my room before your mother finishes cooking," he stated, "I'll be back."

Getting up, he took a step before stopping and turning to face her again, "I'll still be there with you this time."

Without another word, he turned and left for his room. He didn't drag his feet, and tried to make it there as quickly as he could without running. He swung the door open with a bit of force and shut it behind him, leaning back against it once it closed. He closed his eyes and a long sigh escaped him as he clenched his jaw tight. When he finally opened his eyes, he looked towards the top drawer of his dresser. For a long time he just looked. Finally he moved over and opened the drawer, pushing his socks aside to reveal the hidden memento underneath. Wrapped in worn paper, was a framed photo of his family, the last one taken before he left home. He unwrapped it and placed it atop the dresser, pulling out the little stand at the back so it could be propped up.

It was his 18th birthday, and his mother had wanted the photo. Erin looked much younger, and his hair was grown in on all sides, unlike his current do. It was still shaggy and jet black though, falling in his eyes. His mother had tried to sweep it back, he remembered, to no avail. He was taller than her, and he had his arm wrapped around her shoulders. His little brother, 14 at the time, was standing in front of them. His father wasn't in the picture, but Erin didn't care. He didn't want him there anyway. Everyone looked happy on the outside, but he knew the picture was fake. Maybe his mother was somewhat genuinely happy, that her first son was finally a man. But he doubted she could really have been that excited. His brother looked a lot like him, but his hair was short and he had different eyes.

Erin leaned on the dresser, both hands flat on the surface, his arms spread at shoulder length. He hung his head and closed his eyes again, gritting his teeth. Now that he was alone, all his frustration had no reason to stay inside him. His hands balled into fists and his arms started to shake slightly. He tried to take some calming breaths, but to no avail. In a sudden outburst, a yell escaped him as he swung his arm swiftly, sending the picture flying across the room and into the adjacent wall. The loud shatter of glass breaking and the thud as it fell to the floor accompanied Erin's yell. He leaned on the dresser again, huffing through his nose.
