He recoiled slightly at the other's cool touch - the bruises still hurt, especially when they were touched. As for the other's question, he could only shrug. "I... I disgust her... that's what she says," he murmured. He looked even more depressed than before, when it had only been the rain that got him down. Now, instead of trying to ignore his memories, he was being forced to think about them, to try and confront them. "She says that... something like me should never have been born..."

Wei shifted himself back against the couch with a sigh, eyes flickering between the windows (and consequently the weather) and the utterly depressed looking kitten. "Well, I do believe she's wrong. I know we have to face more...eh, challenges than the regular person but still, you got to admit being the way we are isn't that bad. I think we have some advantages, especially you. I don't think many can pull off that cute look that many cats are born with, at least Chang can't that's for sure," Wei murmured with an uncharacteristically gentle smile.

Liao smiled slightly in spite of himseld. It was funny... Wei didn't seem to be angry at him or think he was some annoying kid or scorn him of anything... in fact, he was trying to help... trying to cheer him up. That knowledge helped Liao rise a bit from his depression - a rare feat in and of itself. "I... I suppose," he murmured a little uncertainly, eyes darting back up to the other's face.

"You suppose?' Wei asked with a teasing sort of expression. "You need to yourself more credit, Kitten, jus' 'cause some b***h of a mom didn't appreciate you doesn't mean others won't," he murmured, a more than kind side to the snake showing (one that was quite rare). Ruffling the boy's head of bright hair, the young man grinned.

"Tell me this, do you value your mom's opinion? With the way she treated you I don't think you should..."

"I don't know," he murmured, looking surprised. He had never before questioned whether or not he should listen to his mother - wasn't a a child always supposed to listen to their parents? He shook his head slowly. "I... I guess I shouldn't." A slight smile twitched onto his lips. "I... thank you," he murmured. He had never really been around people enough to have heard their thoughts on this and never before met another with his condition, so he would never have talked, anyway. He felt immense releif that he was no longer alone - releif that spread through his whole body, bringing slight color to his cheeks.

Wei smiled. He was glad that even though he was pretty much messed in the head that he could still help people out, granted that he wasn't pissed off or something along those fragile lines. "Well, since we've had our little heart to heart, I think it would be a good idea to go to bed. I don't think I'd be a very good host if I made you stay up so late," he murmured, standing up with a slight waver. Blowing out the few candles in the kitchen area, Wei turned towards the boy, "Don't hesitate waking me up if you get scared or something, I don't think this storm is going to be stopping anytime soon, unfortunately."

But didn't the boy know that already? He had almost forgotten that the kitten was well...just that, a kitten. He assumed that cats and other such mammals could sense approaching storms just as well as he could, even if they did it through different means.

Liao nodded. "Thank you." he remembered vaguely the room he had slept in the night before. Following that faint memory, he slipped into bed, yawning and tried to lull himself into sleep. Rain helped most people to sleep, but not him. It was too much connected with bad memories... he shuddered lightly before falling into a deep sleep, his fatigue finally taking over.

"My whole family is like me," he murmured back, his voice low. He was cautious when it came to talking about his... condition. You never knew who might be listening. He watched the men out of the corners of his eyes - he was always on guard and wary of anyone that might be around so he could be ready to run if there came that time. "Father is like me, but Mother is arctic. So we're mixed." He didn't bother himself trying to get the other's interest with anything. If he seemed dull, so be it; it just meant less trouble for Kio to deal with later.

"You're the only other I've ever met, I thought that maybe I was alone except for the occasional rumors I heard floating about of others. Never could find anything solid to point to and say that I wasn't alone. I feel a little less unique now that I know for sure that there are others." He shrugged. "I was treated as a god by my people but now...my people moved away and I'm trying to find the man that caused them to.

"Give it up. If he was able to make others leave, then they already had their own doubts and thoughts. They would have left, anyway, although makyber a little later." Kio was logical - it wasn't worth chasinf fate and wasting time on revenge. To him, it was as simple as that. Pride didn't do any good, but having a low self esteme was idiotic. His path was the middle, or the grey side. He didn't care about his own... "uniqueness." It had some draw backs - such as the dogs that always sniffed at him - as well as some assets, but he wasn't going to make a fuss about it. He knew there were quite a few others like him - he'd even met a few outside of his family.

Coyote shrugged and shook his head, "He convinced them that our land was dying, that our ways were dying. My people were noble and proud before but now, they've left their reservation and been pulled into these cities where many are unable to find jobs. On the reservation everyone provided for everyone else, here everyone would take food from another's mouth just to fill their own."

He lifted his shoulders casually before letting them drop, "Besides, I'm well known for my petty vengences."

"Suit yourself, then. But vengence isn't worth it if you end up hurt or in bad enough trouble. Don't let emotions get in front of judgement or common sense," he advised. It wasn't good to just jump into something without planning, something Kio lived by - which was probably why he was "boring."

Wei took the time to blow out all the remaining candles before he stumbled off through the darkness to his room. Once he was gripping the inner part of his bedroom doorway, the snake sighed in relief. Only a few near accidents and one toppled lamp which thankfully hadn't broken...the journey to his room hadn't been that bad...or at least that's what the young man kept telling himself. Running a hand through black hair, the snake sighed to himself. What was he going to do now? Stripping of his clothes, the dark man hobbled around looking for a pair of spare shorts while taking certain piercings out, all the while musing to himself alound just how in the world he was supposed to get Haro now.

He knew where he lived, well for the most part, as long as he stayed with the tiger... The kid had also been very...reluctant at first but with a little persuasion Haro was very easy to manipulate. He just needed to get that b*****d Shin out the house... And so the snake slid under his sheets trying to dream up a plan as to hoiw he would get the careful teen out of his house...leaving Haro alone, of course...

-----

Restless, the boy sat up slightly, head leaning back against the wooden head board. One hand covering his shoulder, Haro stared up blankly at the ceiling. What was he going to do? Wei...wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted...and he so obviously wanted to take back his pet for reasons unknown to the bird...

Shin had...tried to protect him and in the attempt he had hurt himself quite badly. Haro had thought about the tiger's condition before but when someonething had actually happened he'd...he never realized he would've been so completely shaken by the idea of Shin...of him...he couldn't even think it, let alone voice it. The boy held a hand to his head, lowering tired eyes to the sheets he had long since kicked to the end of the bed.

He couldn't let that happen again.

Turning golden eyes towards his few belongings, the boy slowly slid off of his bed. He couldn't let Shin get hurt because of him...ever again.

((Kyuuuu~te. <3333 *luffs on Haro*))

--The boy looked up at his mother with wide, grey eyes that were currently filled with incredulity. How could... how could everyone else not be like... like him? With these ears and... everything. And if he was different... why? His mother wouldn't answer that question.

Her red-lip-sticked mouth began to form to words that would later become engraved in the young boy's mind, her eyes full of mallice. "What you are is disgusting. It's abnormal - it's not right. You should have never been born."

Those cold, harsh words bit at the bright-haired boy's ego like wolfs a peice of meat, snatching away every last scrap until he was left with nothing but self-loathing. Her words became law as his self-esteem slowly disintigrated.

He had been too young to resist, to think anything other than what his mother had told him. And it was almost too late. Now those bad thoughts had begun, how was he to stop them...?

[[Thanks. :B <3]]

He had been wary of the older man for the last few days, Wei could feel it. Instead of giving him that brilliantly sickening smile and a hug in the morning, the boy gave him a glance... It wasn't as if he minded...it was merely different from what he was used to. Haro had every right to be guarded, he supposed what with his actions the previous night.

"Nn, kiddo, are you mad at me?" The snake asked, leaning a dark hand atop the boy's head. Of course he was. His stupid little hands were clenched so tight Wei thought is Haro dug his nails any further into his skin he'd bleed...

He was older now... He could handle Wei if he had to... Returning to the end of his bed, Haro frowned. What to do...what to do? He couldn't leave. He wouldn't do that to Shin but he had to think of something. Laying back, the teen stared up once more at the ceiling...what to do...

--Shin hadn't understood back then. All he had known was that he wasn't supposed to play with the other kids or something bad would happen. He was too devoted to his mother - and the memory of his father, as he was now gone - to question her words. But the games of the other children always seemed so much more fun than just... watching.

A girl walked up to the solitary, dark-haired boy and extended the hand of friendship - both litterally and figuratively. He smiled and took it, not thinking that something might happen. After all, he had to make friends at some time, didn't he?

But it was only minutes - an hour at most, maybe - later and he was bleeding and it wouldn't stop. The teachers, who had always been so anxcious and cautious rushed to call all the emergency number they knew and soon enough an ambulance as well as Shin's mother had arrived. That had been the only time in his memory that Shin could remember his mother - always so calm and under control - losing it.--
