Irika Kristi was running around confused. She knew they were under attack but she was always seeming to be the last informed and least knowledgeable, -MAthias i need a fix!- Mathias' eyes caught Kristi running around completely oblivious as to what he had previously ordered of her. Plasma rounds were peppering the CP everywhere as Mathias jumped over the barrier infront of the entrance to Halo, unable to hear the gunfire below because of the overwhelming amount of noise created on the surface. He had no idea what was going on down below. Moving quickly towards Kristi, and making a point not to grab her shoulder from behind, he moved around infront of her, his MA6B in hands. "Kristi! Get yourself together!" Mathias shouted at her. "Use one of those Ghosts you stole and go after one of the Covenant groups. They're getting too close to us, we need some breathing room for the Scorpion..." He said, shouting once again and pointing his arm towards where the Scorpion was stationed.

Mendez butted a flood form in the face and it fell from the turret. He opened a link to Mathias. "Sir, unless we get some reinforcements down here, We're screwed over." as he said this he hopped on the turret and aimed at the now abandoned turret as the last marine on that side fell under the onslaught of the flood. "Jenkins! MOVE!" He yelled reaching for his MA5B Rifle and brought it to bear shooting a carrier in it's blubbery sac. "Ugly b*****d." He spotted a exit and picked up the turret. "Jenkins! Get out of there with that turret and get over here!" as Jenkins returned, Mendez backed out the door, shooting all the way. When Jenkins passed through the door, Mendez shut it, locking the flood out. "We're alright, for now. Head towards the surface, but keep them in this building. They CANNOT get to our men." He turned and sprinted down the hallway as fast as he could holding the bulky turret in his arms.

Mathias, moving away from Kristi since she now had her orders, moved behind something that was safe for the time being. Replying to Gunnery Sergeant Mendez he said over the radio;
'Sergeant, there's a heavy fire fight going on up here, negative on the reinforcements.'
The transmission from Mathias down to Mendez had been filled with gunfire. He was also starting to become aware of what was happening down below. SPARTAN-108 needed to get regroup his soldiers and fall back to a more defendible spot. He was unsure how this battle was going to end. They were already taking casualties as the Covenant came closer and closer, as close as one hundred feet now.
Without warning, a fuel rod gun round hit the ground only a few meters away from him. The shockwave knocked him down, and taking his breath away. Luckily he hadn't been close enough to be burnt to a crisp by the explosion. His ears rung, as he pulled himself up. Shell shock.

Mendez heard Mathias's reply and swore to himself. He skidded to a halt in the middle of their CP. "Everyone watch the doors! MOVE IT!" He set down the turret and turned it towards the door. after a few minutes a banging could be heard on the other side. "Keep it together men..." He hoped that he had the strength to continue this battle.

As Mathias stood back up staggeringly, things moved in slow motion. A hallow sounding ring was all that he could hear with 'distan' gun shots. Mathias smacked the side of his helmet with his gloved palm. Coming back to his senses, he crouched once again to avoid being shot. His body ached from the explosion, but he pushed himself to ignore it. Looking just beyond the spot where the fuel rod round went off, he saw the mangled and wravaged corpses of a couple Marines and an ODST. He thought it was an ODST at least, from the black armor that remained. By now the snipers were engaging the Covenant at close/medium range.
Mathias could see Covenant soldiers clearly, and lifted his arms as though to shoot at them, but quickly realized his rifle wasn't in his hands. His head darted back and forth looking for it. Finding the rifle, which was laying only a few feet behind him, he snatched it up and clicked the safety off. Snapping the upper half of his body around the corner of the barrier he had taken position behind, Mathias took quick aim, and let loose a burst of bullets into two Grunts. Both fell quickly, catching the bullets in the chest and head...

Howie's mind was working without thought. He wasn't thinkning, he was just working off basic animal instinct. For at least twenty minutes he had been unloading M90 shells of the flood. His heart was raceing and he felt like he had been benchpressing weights. It was amazeing how fast your body tired out when you were in combat, but some how you keep on finding the strength to continue. Howie watched as some of his fellow soliders died when the flood pounced on them.

Mendez batted at a flood form trying to lodge onto his chest. "Stupid mother---" The rest of his sentence was drowned out by an explosion nearby. He was lifted off of his feet and thrown against a wall. His head reeled as he stood up and stumbled to his rifle. Being able to see again, hs shot at flood forms from behind a box. The rounds tore through the carrier form and came to a rest in a former elite's chest. He turned his head and spit on the ground hoping not to pass out.

Captain Twombley, This is Lieutenant Brennan, Listen to me very carefully, I want you and your men to head west of your position RIGHT NOW. Because, we have a lock on the location where your standing on, so we need you to run, NOW. I know your a CO, but still, unless you want to become plasma fodder, I suggest you run... I'll keep a feed to you.

Now that Kristi was starting to play 'hit and run' on the Covenant groups, it slowed their advance and began to drive them back, only slight though. The pressure they had been putting on the Marines was lightened up. Alot of the plasma fire was now directed upon Kristi who was skillfully piloting the Ghost to avoid being shot. Lucky for her to that Covenant didn't have any more fuel rod guns, since any Covenant that had been carrying one were amongst the first to be cut down by the Marine sharp shooters.
The Elites had pushed the Grunts and Jackals forward without a step back. They had been moving so quickly that they didn't even bother to pick up the fallen fuel rod guns, with good reason though. Earlier in the battle, one of the sniper had shot the fuel rod gun in the hands of a Grunt and it blew up, taking a large number of Covenant with it.
Marines were beginning to drive the Covenant back further now. Mathias had left his spot behind the barrier, and moved closer to the front so he could more easily give out orders, and make sure his Marines hit back at the Covenant hard. "No mercy! Make them pay for tryin' to take this spot!" Mathias had shouted. Every Marine top side was firing a weapon at the Covenant, the machine guns had been tearing into the Covenant, but they were starting to run low on ammo, and the barrels were getting dangerously hot. The Marines were smart though and made sure they had at least one machine gun firing while the barrels on the others were quickly changed out.
Lieutenant Brennan's transmission filtered into his ear peice. He replied promptly and more or less relieved.
'Got it Lieutenant, moving now.'
Mathias called out over the radio to every Marine in the area, and making sure those below heard it.
'Marines, fall back and move towards the west now! Plasma bombardment is about to rain down! Move!'
Higher ranking Marines repeated the order down to their squads and the entire encampment of Marines and ODSTs were now moving at a full run to get to the western flank.

The sky suddenly warmed to a deep red as the plasma turrets on the belly of the carrier charge and fire. Several strikes of plamsa tear through the atmosphere, splitting it before its firey wake like soil before a plow.
Screaming molecules split as they touch the burning plasma, creating numerous explosions as it rains down upon the HALO surface. The impact was quite spectacular, each blast creating a whirlwind effect as they hit, making the whole ground to shudder violently.
The resulting firestorm washed over all of the plants and animal life in it's way, insinerating everything in it's path, rolling over hills like they were ramps, crashing down on the other side in the shadow of the hills.
By the time they reached Captain Mathias's position, it had diffused enough to make it not but a pretty fire show, then even less then that when the turrets finally stopped fireing.

Every Marine in the company had dropped to the ground when the first plasma bomb hit. They all hugged the dirt, praying to God that the plasma bombs wouldn't have landed on them. Mathias had, at certain moments, lifted his head from the dirt to see the affect of the bombing. He had never seen it happen with his own eyes, only heard some details of it. It wasn't a pretty sight.
Once it ended, the company stood up to their feet. Captain Twombley heard comments made by Marines near him. He was left speechless by what was left. Small fires were spread about here and there. There was barely anything even left of the Covenant that had attacked them, mainly just charred bones and smoldering armor.
"What now sir?" A Master Sergeant that stood beside Mathias asked. Twombley shook his head clear of what he had been thinking. Then shouted out, "Alright Marines! Enough gawking!...Double time back to the entrance!!" As they had earlier done, the entire company moved back to the encampment or what was left of it. A radio transmission drowned out the stampede like noise of the Marines running.
'Well the Covenant have been, dispatched...We've survived, and are returning to the base camp...'
