"Hang in there, Shocker!" Kasiya shouted. "You can take it! Get back in there and fight back with a Brick Break!" She knew Shocker had been through worse, and she continued to stand with her arms folded, watching as her beloved Raichu uncurled herself and jumped at the Arcanine. Her small yet powerful paws were glowing with white energy as she first delivered an uppercut to the canine's jaw and followed it up with a downward punch to the top of his head before finishing it off with a solid kick to his chest. The impact was intense for a small Pokemon and the Arcanine was knocked back slightly from the hit while Shocker did a backwards midair somersault and landed gracefully on her hind legs. Kasiya smiled and giggled lightly at her Pokemon's behavior. "Showoff."
"Whoa..." Haruka blinked, taking a step back as her Arcanine was knocked for a loop by the much smaller Raichu, but it wasn't the actual hit that she was impressed by. The way the mouse had executed the attack and then landed afterwards - it was quite a show of agility and power at the same time. "Arcanine, Flamethrower! Again!" she shouted, remembering then that she was still in a battle. For a moment it looked as though the large canine was going to attack, but at the last minute he lied down on his belly and whimpered at Shocker, still eying her with big, puppy-dog eyes.
=-=-=-=-= It took a lot of willpower for Mai to avoid rolling her eyes but she managed and nodded instead. Giovanni's 'flare' for names was had never been anything but lackluster and she rather wished he would have let them choose their own names. She sighed before she strolled forward and took the box nearest to her - black leather with gold trim - and studied the other badges inside. The Fog and Feather Badges gleamed up at her, alongside four others: Cianwood City's Storm Badge, Goldenrod City's Plain Badge, Azalea Town's Hive Badge and Violet City's Zephyr Badge. From the looks of it, she would be portraying a trainer from Johto, which was fine, and she could already picture the disguise she'd be wearing. She also had a bit of an advantage in the fact that the kids didn't know what Pokemon she used. Well, her Espeon and Flygon would be recognized by Kasiya at the very least, but her Typhlosion, Blastoise, Glalie and Seviper were primed and ready.
She saluted despite the fact Giovanni had his back turned and left the Rocket boss' office, snapping the badge case closed as she made her way down the corridor, a devilish grin curling on her lips as she headed towards her room. She felt very good about the party and their plans for infiltrating it, but she couldn't help but feel that Giovanni was underestimating the children. Again. She wouldn't be surprised in the least if they were already expecting Team Rocket to crash the party, or Rowan's seminar, at the very least. That was the least of her worries though, as at least she could play along if the brats were expecting them. Right now she was more concerned with setting up a backup plan in case 'the switch' happened again, lest her irritating kid sister ruin everything. She reached her office in little time and opened the door, where she crossed the room and picked up her phone. She pressed a few keys and listened intently while it rang, lightly drumming her fingertips on the smooth surface of her neatly organized desk.

Keegan had to hold back a laugh as Themis' eyes opened wide at Mike's accusation before he began to thrash his head back and forth, howls of anger escaping his throat. Themis apparently didn't think Mike's method of 'motivation' was exactly fair, and he hated it when opponents didn't play fair! The Manectric's burst of anger would prove to be his downfall though, as the Ampharos' colourful attack blasted him full-on in the chest, and he had to dig in his claws to keep himself from sliding back any further. Another low rumble crept from his throat as he glared at the large, yellow Pokemon in front of him. "Are you going to just sit there and take that?" Keegan asked casually, shrugging his shoulders. "Your honor is at stake." The redhead wore a smug grin as he spoke, obviously amused by Mike's motivational tactics as well as his own Pokemon's lawful behavior. The Manectric had never liked breaking the rules, although in his mind ignoring his trainer's orders apparently wasn't one of those rules.
Themis was quite angry now, evident by the impatient way he pawed the ground, glaring daggers at Beacon. "Give 'em a taste of your new move," Keegan called, stucking his hands in his pockets and looking around. Still no sign of Kasiya. Themis reared back his head, and a second later an intense stream of flames spilled from his mouth towards Beacon. Keegan admired the Flamethrower with an appreciative nod of his head. He didn't regret teaching it to Themis now.

A single eyebrow was raised at the sight of an Electric Pokemon of all things loosing a jet or fire from its gaping maw. That is certainly entertaining. Mike thought as he watched intently. It wasn't nearly as good as say, an actual Fire Pokemon's utilization of the move, but it was certainly something. It lacked the raw ferocity, the unquestionable sense of belonging, the spirit. Spirit and emotion are key when regarding fire. "Fire is a passionate element." said the boy under his breath as he saw the attack impact Beacon. Few know of it's true power, its life, its frailty. He snapped his fingers, sparking a tiny flame between his thumb and forefinger. "It longs for life just like us. So beautiful..." He opened his hand, the small wisp dissipating harmlessly in the air. He let out a curt 'hm.' and turned to his Pokemon. No time for poetry.
Beacon squealed as the flames wrapped around him, several patches of scalded fur in place of his once clean and unmarred body. "A no no..." He wiped himself off, visually upset at his new look. The Ampharos stuck out a small pink tongue at Themis, he disliked this Pokemon quite a bit. Then he did something he had never done before; he turned to his trainer, looking at him for an order. Mike was taken back at the sight of the Ampharos' receptive gaze. His eyes looked ...attentive, focused even. Not taking any time to let it sink in he shouted a command.
"Beacon, let's give 'im another Signal Beam!" For all he knew this was another one of his unusual Pokemon's phases, he better take full advantage of Beacon's for lack of a better term, moment.
With frighteningly uncharacteristic speed Beacon whirled around, the gem on his forehead already flashing with a build-up of energy. Lowering his head, the Ampharos fired another swirling red and blue beam at the Manectric.
"Hm..." Mike scratched his chin intently as he watched his Pokemon. Perhaps this was...progress?

Mitsu's smile quickly faded into a frown as Crenu had mentioned her "crowd." She didn't think anything was wrong with any of her friends. Her frown had grown deeper at his comment of his lack of family. Perhaps he too didn't quite have a loving family as M.A. or Kilik had. Maybe he even longed to have one like herself. Oh well, no time for thinking like that. Her frown had vanished in a flash, had it actually been there? She had gotten use to pushing her issues to the deep depths of the back of her mind, forcing herself to completely forget the pain that she felt when it had hurt too much.
It was getting quite late, but Mitsu wasn't quite that tired. She spent many sleepless nights back in Mossdeep trying to decipher that book or just roaming around the city with Tate and Liza like old times. She even took the liberty of visiting their space center a couple of nights to watch the stars and the other things that were found deep in space. "Wouldn't the early birds for the party be bothersome?" Mitsu asked. She too had thought about camping out on the beach, but decided against it for two reasons. One, people would be thier fairly early tomorrow morning and two, the beach didn't exactly have beds on it. So she'd be sleeping in the Pokemon Center as always. Apollo neighed snapping Mitsu back into reality. She stroked his mane a few more times. The warmth felt amazing. The silver horse was magnificent and she felt grateful to be taking care of the horse for Dante. Wonder who's taking care of Kenny, and all of Dante's other Pokemon.

Leo, huh? That would be fine. Mai's pseudonym, 'Cammy,' made him smirk a little though; how innocent sounding it was. He watched silently as Mai stepped forward to take her box, followed by 'Tina' (whose real name he really could not recall; he distinctly remembered that sometime ago, she'd fancied him to be attracted to her, and had been obnoxiously clingy until, by a stroke of luck, her station was relocated). The last box he claimed for himself; it was of a dark, maroon sort of velvet material, the six badges firmly planted within its cushion-like bottom. Three of the badges were from Kanto, two from Johto, and the last, the Feather Badge, was from Hoenn. Sure, he could play the part of a region hopper.
Jaxon's golden eyes idly slid over the hostile Persian before saluting nearly unanimously with the other two admin. Tina stepped out with him, blabbering on about something or another, but he found her nasally voice terrifically annoying and couldn't exactly get himself to care what she was saying. How fabulous this mission would be. He was stuck with the woman who was practically tying herself to his arm and that other woman who he, on one level, didn't want anything to do with, and on another level, was vaguely thrilled to be working with. For those reasons, he strongly disliked the both of them. At least Mai was a terrifically strong trainer, and this Tina girl was more than competent herself, if he could remember correctly; she could be sharp-minded if needed, although quite aggravating.
"So, I was thinking, Jaxxy, why don't we be a couple for this mission? I know you want to~ It's a good idea, besides."
Jaxon frowned, really not wanting to entertain this notion. There really was no reason for those kids to be suspicious. Didn't trainers approach trainers and battle and chat all the time? It wouldn't be strange for the 'Cammy-Leo-Tina' company to do so as well. He sighed then, predicting that if he said no, she'd pout and hold the grudge throughout the mission. Ah well, then. A couple and another companion could seem more benevolent by a tad than three trainers hungry for battle, so it wouldn't hurt anyways.
Jaxon finally found himself alone in his quarters, giving a breath of relief; Tina's presence was suffocating, but he could deal with it. He sat down on his bed for a moment, releasing his true-as-blue partner, Chad. "Time for a big job, Chad," he said, resting a hand on the Hitmonlee's shoulder. Or head. The Pokemon looked up at him with that unfaltering gaze. "You really are like Charlsea," he murmured, patting the Pokemon's head before standing up again.
With that, he began to get ready, slipping on some beach-friendly attire, namely a loosely fitted dark gray tank-top, lime green board shorts with white, gray, and black swirls and designs, and large brown flip-flops. On second thought, he grabbed some gel and sculpted a little fohawk for himself, placing white-rimmed aviators tentatively on top. He was the image of a fun-loving, chill guy ready to hit the sand for some beach football or maybe even the waves for some surfing now; the change in look made him smirk crookedly a bit in the mirror. Jaxon was ready to go. He'd slip into character when he got there.

Her call had taken but a quick moment simply to schedule an even quicker meeting, and in the meantime Mai had went about her quarters preparing her own disguise. Jaxon and Phoebe (while Mai didn't care one way or the other about the majority of the other rockets milling about the base she did know the names of pretty much all the higher-ranking officials) were both lucky and unlucky at the same time: on the one hand, they had the luxury of being virtually unknown to the group of kids but on the other hand, neither of them knew just how unbearably hopeful and determined the lot of them could be. On their own they were weak and easy to to pick apart, but together they formed an almost unstoppable force. First and foremost they needed to cause rifts. Rifts that would be large enough to have them fighting with each other. For the Rockets to pull this off it would take not only just the right amount of manipulation but also timing perfectly the delivery of information that would form the much-desired rifts between the friends. Mai sneered at the very thought of the word as she slammed shut the larger of two bureaus within her quarters, tossing the selection of clothing onto her bed beside the black leather badge case.
Next she headed into the small bathroom connected to her room and opened up a cupboard, sifting through its contents before she came up with a small box. After making sure it was the one she wanted she removed her long overcoat and tossed it over her computer chair before doing the same with her royal purple tank top. She let her pale blonde hair fall down around her bare shoulders before running a brush through it, and the first stage of her transformation was underway.
Approximately forty-five minutes later Mai loosed the towel from her head and stared blankly at the damp, chestnut-brown locks that framed her pale face. It had taken careful work but she'd managed to match her slender eyebrows in colour lest they give her natural colour away, and she smiled as she admired the darker strands and how they made her pale skin seem even paler. Next she slipped out of her everyday wear and changed into a modest yet flattering sugar pink (that's right, sugar-freaking-pink!) two-piece bathing suit, her lower half covered by a light and breezy flower-patterned matching sarong. She slipped her feet - pink painted toenails and all - into a light pair of beach-worthy sandals, also pink with Velcro straps to keep them in place. At this point the admin stopped to admire her handiwork in the mirror, finding the only thing about her new appearance that gave her away were her eyes. As much as she was drowning in that overly cheerful pink, those cold, icy blue eyes of hers would be a dead giveaway to anyone who'd gazed into them more than once. It needed to be remedied. After going back into the bathroom she opened a vanity drawer and removed a larger box and flipped open the top, going over the selections carefully. The next time she gazed into the mirror, a pair of warm, friendly chocolate-brown eyes stared back at her, and Mai smiled. "Why hello there, Cammy," she sneered, still quite annoyed by the name Giovanni had chosen, "are you ready to party?"

Kasiya smiled upon seeing the Arcanine overcome with infatuation and she was quite glad she'd taught it to Shocker that day. She'd got it for her specifically for the battle with her father's Raichu and it had worked wonders and probably had been the deciding factor in that battle. She snapped out of her mini-trip down memory lane in time to watch Shocker jump backwards and avoid a nasty-looking bite from the Arcanine, thinking that for a moment it almost looked like a training match between Shocker and Hiro. However, Kasiya's critical eye could easily tell that Hiro was larger than Haruka's Arcanine, although she wouldn't mention it to Haruka. Shocker wore a wide grin as she avoided another vicious bite attempt, waving her paw back and forth at it as if to say, "Oh no you don't!"
Kasiya rolled her eyes and shook her head, but still continued to smile as she nodded at her Pokemon, the orange egg now resting on the ground and being protected by Levi, who'd wrapped her arms around it and was hugging it to her gently. "Okay Shocker, enough playing around!" she told the mouse firmly. "Finish him off!"
Shocker gave a quick nod, now grinning as she turned back to her opponent, who had sat back on his haunches and was watching her intently. For a moment the Raichu thought that perhaps this was too easy? Nah. Kasiya hadn't given her a specific order, and now the mouse's cheeks were crackling with electricity, her ears twitching excitedly before she sent one final Thunderbolt at the canine, taking a few steps back as she watched the electric blanket coil around the Arcanine. The Pokemon's eyes were closed even before the attack had even ended and Haruka called him back long before he could hit the ground. "I've got to admit it, kiddo," she said, lacing her index fingers through the belt loops of her dark trousers, "but you seemed pretty harmless at first."
Shocker scoffed loudly and obnoxiously as she headed back towards Kasiya, long tail waving like a flag behind her as she walked. She flashed a wide grin and a thumbs-up to Levi when she reached her teammate, but her ears and tail drooped quite quickly when the Marshtomp did not return the gesture. Shocker sighed and patted the Water-type's back, knowing just how Levi felt at that moment. Disappointment and frustration had been an ongoing theme with Shocker a while back, and only now was she really starting to realize her full potential. She hoped that with time, Kasiya could help Levi to feel the same way.
=-=-=-=-= Flannery hadn't been expecting to see the Flamethrower come from the Electric-type, yet she admired it all the same. Glancing over at Mike though, it was easy to tell that he wasn't nearly as impressed as she was. Granted, it wasn't as strong as it would have been coming from a Fire-type, but Flannery found it somewhat reassuring that Keegan could be resourceful and versatile when teaching new moves to his Pokemon. She shifted her weight on her feet and studied her hands for a moment, her mind going momentarily blank. Her stomach rumbled and for a second she thought she caught a whiff of something quite delicious-smelling coming from the direction of the Summers' kitchen. While Flannery herself was a god-awful cook, she knew of no one else who could cook like Maggie Summers. The woman may had been almost obsessively-compulsive about keeping her kitchen clean but her cooking skill was matched by no one. Well, at least no one in the vicinity, anyways. She glanced back a the two boys and sighed. Hurry the hell up, would you? I'm freakin' starving over here... she thought grumpily, folding her arms.

From everything Keegan had heard about Beacon, it was rather unusual for him to not only wait for an order but respond to it as well. As fast as he responded though, Themis was that much faster and he eyed the swirling beam with distaste as it neared him, waiting until the last second until he dashed away from it, a white light streaking out from behind him as he flew into a Quick Attack. The Manectric turned his gaze on Beacon, circling around and coming at the Ampharos from the side.
Keegan watched intently, actually quite impressed that Themis seemed to be using his head in battle for once. The impulsive Manectric seldom thought things through before acting, but giving him opportunities where he could think for himself would probably have benefits in the long run, perhaps teaching the Manectric to lose his rash behaviour and think.
It was about then that he too caught the scent of food in the air and it inadvertently caused his stomach to rumble. In all his travels he'd never found anyone who cooked like his own mother did. She'd also begun to impart her wisdom to him, and while he still didn't hold a candle to her abilities, he was quite the talented cook. Being stuck at home and cooking for his parents while they ran the breeding center had its advantages.

"Harmless?" Kasiya repeated, suppressing a frown as Haruka walked towards her. "I won, didn't I?" She placed her hands on her hips and tried to wear an indifferent smile, finding, however, that she now was glaring at the older girl. Shocker glared up at her too, still standing next to Levi and the egg. Leviathan had turned her back on Haruka and was staring at the ground, eyes brimming with tears. "And how dare you insult my Pokemon! You really hurt Levi's feelings!" She was shouting now but she didn't care.
Haruka raised an eyebrow at Kasiya's outburst and folded her arms. "I didn't insult your Pokemon," she told the girl firmly. "I realized your Marshtomp is still young and I didn't want to hurt it," she added. "I really didn't mean to offend."
"Yeah, well you did," Kasiya retorted angrily, deciding to omit that she too had felt belittled by the comment. "I know Levi is young but she's come a long way in only a few days." She knelt down beside her two Pokemon and took Levi in her arms, eyes widening a bit when she realized the Marshtomp was bigger and heavier than before. "Either way you owe her an apology!"
A sigh escaped Haruka's lips and she scratched the side of her head. "Fine." She knelt down in front of Levi and Kasiya and held out a hand to the Pokemon. "I'm sorry Levi, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings," she told her honestly. "I can see that you're quite tough already and you're going to continue getting tougher. Someday we'll have a rematch and you can show me just how strong you really are, okay?"
Levi narrowed her eyes, whiskers and fins twitching ever so lightly before she let out a growl before proceeding to blast Haruka in the face with a Water Gun. The girl's eyes went wide and in only a few seconds her entire top half was soaked thoroughly. Now, however, Levi was smiling and looking a lot happier than before and she nodded eagerly at Haruka. "Maaarsh!"
=-=-=-=-= After adorning a pair of dangling, seashell earrings and a matching seashell necklace, Mai towel-dried her hair a little more and pulled it back into even pigtails that rested just behind her ears. A classy, pink and white woven belt was fastened around her waist and she attached her six Pokeballs to it, making her transformation into Cammy complete. It would be easy enough to slip into character once they actually arrived in Slateport. It was just about then that she heard a knock on her door, and she opened it, not at all surprised to find a familiar face gazing down at her. His sandy-blonde hair had been brushed back and gelled into place so it looked spiked, and a pair of sunglasses were pushed back on his head. He wore a yellow tank top with a black, silhouetted image of a Pikachu riding a surfboard as well as a pair of jean cutoff shorts, the frayed ends of which dangled down his muscular thighs. Lastly he wore a pair of black flip-flop sandals, and he grinned down at Mai, looking much like one of those handsome surfer guys found on every beach under the sun.
"Leo Sinclair, I hardly recognized you," Mai smirked, gently poking him in the stomach with a finger. "You hardly look the part of Silver Squad leader in that getup."
Leo returned her smirk and gestured towards her chestnut-coloured hair. "I could say the same to you, Mai Masaki," he retorted. "But I gotta say, that colour is quite stunning on you."
"Shut up," she said quickly, turning her back on him. "And don't call me that. For the duration of the party you will address me as Cammy, understand?"
"Understood," Leo nodded, looking around the room. "How very like you though, all business and no play." He entered the room and shut the door behind him, leaning against a wall and studying Mai closely. "Anyway, you wanted to see me? And for your information I'll be going by the name of Bryan for this operation."

Miharu watched with a mixture of amusement and frustration as the Metapod struggled to get up after being tackled by Sparkle, and sighed when it finally did. The boy was looking quite flustered now too, and suddenly Miharu felt a little sorry for it. Sparkle, on the other hand, was standing in front of her trainer, tail light flickering as it wavered back and forth. She obviously was feeling quite good about her new form and Miharu remembered that the Flaaffy’s cuteness had been what made her want one in the first place. Sparkle looked up at Miharu questioningly, wondering if they should finish it off or just give up. The Metapod, on the other hand, didn’t look quite ready to give in yet, as on the boy’s order it hardened its shell again.
“Oi,” Miharu murmured, shaking her head. “Sparkle, go ahead and use Thundershock,” she told the Pokemon. Sparkle let out a small growl as the sparkling, blue electricity arched off of her body and struck the cocoon Pokemon. It rocked a bit on the spot before toppling over, a long, jagged crack appeared in the back of its shell. A brilliant white light spilled from the crack before it opened wider, the creature hiding within slowly pushing itself backwards until two wings appeared, and the newly evolved Butterfree spread out its wings, and fluttered about excitedly.
“Hah!” the boy cheered, pumping his fist into the air. “Now my Butterfree will teach your Flaaffy a lesson!” he shouted. “Get it with your Tackle attack, Butterfree!” The butterfly Pokemon heaved a sigh before fluttering forward, exhaustion clear on its face. Sparkle braced for impact, eyes narrowed in determination.
“Hey, are you dumb?” Miharu shouted back. “Your Butterfree is weak to electricity! Not only that but your Pokemon just evolved as well! Pair that up with the fact that Sparkle had just been wailing on it with attacks and you’ve got one pooped-out Pokemon on your hands!” Sparkle narrowed her eyes and ducked as the Butterfree passed by over her head. It was relatively easy to avoid seeing as how exhausted the butterfly was. The green-haired girl truly felt bad about having to attack the boy’s Butterfree but he seemed adamant against stopping. “Thundershock, Sparkle, but try not to overdo it,” Miharu sighed, closing her eyes.

The Flaaffy looked quite sad as she generated another shock and directed it at the butterfly. The blue lightning found its target quite easily and both Miharu and Sparkle winced at the Pokemon’s cries. It fell to the ground, motionless, and the boy stared at the Pokemon for a moment before recalling it. “You see?” Miharu shouted, but quickly stopped herself upon seeing the boy’s expression. She sighed and walked towards him and put a hand on his shoulder. “Look, you’d better get your Pokemon inside and healed up,” she said, gesturing towards the red-roofed building behind them. Nodding slowly, the boy turned on a heel and went back inside, his initial cockiness gone. Miharu got the impression he was several years younger than she was and just starting out as a trainer, and she felt bad for yelling at him. She sighed, sitting down on the ground and forcing a smile as Sparkle sat down beside her and rested her chin on her trainer’s knee. Miharu slowly petted the Flaaffy’s head, realizing that between the Sentret and Metapod/Butterfree Sparkle hadn’t really taken any damage at all. However, that didn’t stop them from making a quick trip back to the Pokemon Center, although Miharu did wait long enough before going in as not to meet up with that boy again.
Once Sparkle’s energy had been restored the duo headed out of the Pokemon Center and made their way back to the gym. Miharu’s lips were set in a tight line as she opened the Goldenrod City Gym doors yet again. This time, navigating the maze was quite simple as she recalled which way she’d already gone, although upon arriving in the main area of the gym she discovered that the leader, Whitney, was not presently at the gym, or even in Goldenrod City, for that matter. Feeling disheartened, Miharu and Sparkle left the Goldenrod Gym, looking around the bustling city as they tried to figure out a plan of action. “This sucks,” Miharu mumbled as she and the Flaaffy made their way down the fairly crowded street. “I was all psyched up for that match and everything.” Sparkle bleated softly and Miharu picked her up to cuddle her. “It’s all right. We’ll just go off towards the next gym.” If she remembered correctly, the next gym was located north, in Ecruteak City, and was run by a young man by the name of Morty. Other than the name of the city and gym trainer, Miharu knew nothing of the Ecruteak Gym or the type of Pokemon Morty trained. It didn’t really bother her though, as the last few days she’d felt as though her confidence had been bolstered. The thought of winning her third Johto League badge had definitely been driving her to do better, and she decided then that she wouldn’t let the absence of Goldenrod’s leader get her down. After recalling a reluctant Sparkle, she mounted her bike and headed north, back towards the National Park.

Beacon let out a short bark of annoyance at his attack missing, and followed the speeding Manectric with his eyes as he dashed around to hit him. The Ampharos watched intently as Themis closed in on him. Just before he was about to to hit from the attack, Beacon let out a high-pitched cry and swung his body to the left. The attack clipped his left foot, but he avoided any major damage. He let out a happy honk as he fell to the ground, a large cloud of dust accompanying the less than graceful action.
Mike's mouth hung open. Did Beacon just...dodge?! Two quick attacks and a pretty much successful evasive maneuver in one battle? It must have been his birthday, there was no other explanation. "Er, Beacon, use Rain Dance!" said the boy, snapping back to the battle. Rain Dance would be perfect, he thought. The rain would make Themis' Flamethrower next to useless, and Electric moves were out of the question so he didn't have to worry about getting blasted by a no-miss Thunder attack. That is, if the mohawk dog even knew Thunder.
The Ampharos had landed on his back after his little lurch, and was staring at the clear skies above. The clouds were so pretty. Rain Dance? Oh, that means more clouds! Yay! Beacon clapped his hands and let out a noise similar to a cat's meow, the skies almost instantly beginning to darken with black storm clouds. Beacon stood up as the rain began to trickle down, the thunder starting to rumble in the distance. In mere moments the sunny humid weather of Lavaridge was replaced with a torrential downpour. Lightning tore through the once peaceful sky.
Mike smiled and crossed his arms, the rain descending upon him like a watery blanket.

Keegan groaned inwardly as the downpour started, hating the feeling of his hair being plastered to his forehead. Themis merely looked up, blinking as the raindrops landed on his body, knowing full well that his newly learned fire attack wouldn't be as powerful now. It didn't bother him though and he glanced over his shoulder at Keegan, who pushed his sopping hair from his eyes and nodded at the Manectric. While Beacon was celebrating the change in weather he'd created Themis raced towards the Ampharos' turned back, fangs beared as he jumped at the dim-witted Pokemon, a slight crackle of eletricity coursing over his body before he lunged at Beacon with a vicious Bite attack.
Keegan closed his eyes and sighed, allowing the cooling raindrops to help calm him down. Short of a miracle he knew there wasn't any way for him to win; Mike was just that much more experienced. He grit his teeth and decided right then and there that it was time for him to really get serious with his training. The Beach Party was tomorrow and there was no way he could face all those other trainers at his current strength. He was quite proud of all of his Pokemon but deep down he knew they could all do better, himself included. He'd had enough of being outclassed by all his friends. It was time for a change.

Miharu definitely loved the feeling of the wind whipping through her hair as she zipped through town on her Mach Bike. She still felt disappointed at missing out on her chance to battle with Whitney but she knew that one day she’d return to Goldenrod and have her chance. For now she was content to make her way to Ecruteak City and get some training in on the way. She passed through the gatehouse leading out of town, and then headed along the road, making up the distance quickly thanks to her speedy bike. Before long she passed through into the National Park, where fond memories of her win in the Bug-Catching Contest were fresh in her mind. As scared as she had been when she’d confronted the Pinsir she was glad that she had been able to curb her fears and capture it. Aska really proved to be a valuable asset during the contest and she was quite proud of how far the Pidgeotto had come in such a short amount of time.
The green-haired girl followed the bike path through the park, humming lightly to herself as she went. She was guessing that if she maintained a good pace she could reach Ecruteak before supper time, and that would leave the early evening for training. Some point tomorrow she would find the gym and challenge Morty - that is, of course, if her courage held up. The bike path lead her to the far gatehouse of the park and she exited it, finding herself in a small, wooded area with a clear path set out for her. She could see a few trainers around, some in battles, others just talking. No one seemed to notice her even as she dismounted her bike and walked along beside it, not wanting to disturb anyone. That was, of course, until a boy probably her age waved her down and stepped out in front of her. “Hey, you’re a trainer, right?” he asked, looking her up and down.
A bit irritated by the fact that he’d jumped in her path, Miharu nodded slowly, her expression one of annoyance. She knew he was going to ask her for a battle and she figured the only way to shut him up would be to accept. “Yeah, I’m a trainer. I’m heading to Ecruteak City to challenge the gym,” she told him flatly.
“Hey, that’s pretty cool,” the boy replied, spinning a Pokeball on the end of his finger. “I’m not really into collecting badges as of yet but I do like to battle. What do you say?”
“Sure, fine, whatever,” Miharu answered, leaning her bike up against a nearby tree. “Wanna make it a double battle? I want to make it to Ecruteak by nightfall.” The boy agreed and as the two kids squared off, the other trainers in the area gathered around to watch. Miharu paid little attention to them as she waited for the boy to make the first move.

“Okay, let’s get this battle started! Stantler and Venonat, I choose you!” the boy shouted as he threw out one Pokeball followed closely by a second. A hoofed Pokemon with large antlers appeared on the battlefield followed by a smaller, purple puffball. The Stantler reared up on its hind legs before slamming its front legs down on the ground while the Venonat simply sat there, its antennae twitching as it awaited its opponents.
“I’ve never battled a Stantler before,” Miharu mumbled as she plucked two Pokeballs from her belt and hurled them. “Sparkle, Petunia, let’s go!” The ever-joyful Flaaffy hopped up and down a few times, her tail glowing brightly as she looked around, clapping happily as she saw the large beetle Pokemon materialize next to her. She seemed happy to be battling alongside the Pinsir again, although at first Petunia had no idea what Pokemon was standing next to her. “Petunia, Sparkle evolved into a Flaaffy,” she told the bug quickly, who then brought her two horns together happily, accepting her team-mate’s new form. Miharu chuckled a little before snapping herself into battle mode. “Okay Sparkle! Hit that Stantler with your Thunder Wave! Petunia, I want you to start off with Harden! Go!”
Reacting quickly, Sparkle’s tail began to shine before a weak jolt of bluish electricity snaked out towards the Stantler, wrapping around its legs and traveling up its body until it was completely blanketed in electricity. It cried out and pawed at the dirt, trying to rid itself of the electricity by dispersing it into the ground. After a moment or so it was finally able to, although it had already been afflicted by paralysis. Meanwhile, Petunia raised her arms high and made a clacking sound with her maw before her carapace shimmered and became rock-solid, giving her a solid boost in defense. It was just as well because a moment later the Stantler, gaining back some mobility, had charged forward in order to slam itself into the Pinsir for a mighty Tackle. All this went on while the Venonat surveyed the situation closely, deciding to act as its partner moved away from the large Stagbeetle. Its antennae quivered in the air before it let out a high-pitched screeching noise that was directed at Petunia. The Pinsir shrieked and tried to block out the sound but was unsuccessful, and Miharu frowned, hoping that her Pokemon had not become confused.
