What people should do is practice turn-about sales.
Buy something cheap you don't want, wait for the bottom price to drop out, then resell it a little more expensive.
Do this about ten times at a hundred gold profit, you got 1k.

You know, you can take the damages the prostitute got from the horse and file it on your tax returns as depreciation.
