Kazuhiko had been in the process of exploring the Tarnbsei spring when he heard it, freezing.
Kaguyo looked up. "Kazu-kun, daijoubu ka???"
"I'm in trouble..." he whispered, unsure if he wanted to go back. "I'm in big, big, big, big trouble, Kaze-lady... but... it was worth it. I had to bring you back."
Once Kitaria awoke, Kazuhiko had called Gwyllion's soul over, giving it to his mother. Likewise, Morrigan dragged Po-ar on errands--she had to check on things with the clans and bring Gwyllion back after all.
But she technically, sorta could.
Kazuhiko, on the otherhand....
He bit his lip. "It was worth it... but.....ughhhhhh..... This is baaaad..." he winced. "She doesn't sound happy."

Eara shook her head. "So where are we going now?" she asked Julius, exasperated with the amount of running back and forth they had to do. "I know Fir's hard to find, but by his own people?? This is ridiculous..."
She was cranky. She had little sleep, little patience, and very little to eat.
To say the woman hadn't been able to have fun for a while was an understatement. She hadn't even been able to practice her bardry, she was so caught up with work.
But she was diligent, and she didn't complain often, if she spoke at all. She was a good worker, concentrated, devoted, efficient.
All the tasks Julius had given her to keep her occupied were finished days ahead of schedule, and soon there was very little to stop her boredom.
But with the twins gone, Fir had second-guessed her and spirited them away.
Not a cool move. She considered herself their primary guardian as far as things were concerned, and she doubted that Fir would really hold his end of the bargain.
Then again, there was always room for surprises with Fir. It was his nature after all.

Julius smiled softly. "Take it easy, Little Rose. We'll find him when he wants to be found. You know how he is. Besides, I think he's trying to keep a lot of the more dangerous stuff away from teh rest of the Rats right now. And as for you, I kept telling you to lie down for a bit or visit the gameroom. Take it easy."

His phone rang a second later. Julius flipped it open and checked his text messages.

"It's Fir. He's at a Piiza joint around the corner."
------

"Kazuhiko," Kitaria repeated, her eyes narrowing.

Eara nodded slightly. "You know I can't sleep Jules." she spoke quietly, almost admonishing him.
This was also true. The woman had terrible bouts of insomnia that kept her working long into the night, even when the rest of the base was asleep.
"There's too much going on to be playing games anyhow. Things need to get done... we don't have forever."
She was still taking Gwyllion's death pretty hard, apparently, on top of everything else.
"Things like games and sleep don't solve the problems at hand, after all." she offered a weak smile. "It gives me something to do at least."

Kazuhiko winced again. "She's reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllly mad...." he scuffed his foot on the floor, biting his lip. "Ojiisan.... Ojisan... I'll be right back... maybe.... Kit's gonna give me an earful...."
He walked over to a corner, opening two portals so he could peek into Kit's room from the ceiling corner.
He watched her like a wary cat, not blinking or speaking.
He knew what he had done, as did she. He didn't know how, but she knew, and he knew she knew, and she knew HE knew she knew....
He bit his lip a bit, offering a sheepish smile.

Julius smiled and shurgged. "You know, tey might not directly do anything, but sometimes a mindless game is great for stress. Now, Sleepless Rose, shall we go find a Rat King. Just don't tell him I called you that," he joked. "Only Fir's allowed to give people nicknames."
-----

"Kazuhiko," Kitaria repeated. "Do you want to avenge Uncle Gwyllion or not?"

Eara actually giggled at this. "Secret. You have my word." she promised, nodding once.
Faeries were great for keeping secrets so long as their word was given.
"I'm a bit hungry anyhow..."

Kazuhiko peered at Kitaria before nodding a few times. "Herne almost killed me too Kit-Kat... I do."

Kitaria nodded. "Good. We need to go back to the Fir Darrigs base."
-----

Julius smiled. "Great. Pizza it is. Probably be easier just to walk. Don't worry about parking or drawing attention to ourselves on the bikes."

Kazuhiko watched her cautiously. "Okkaaaay..." he started to slink into the room, before he was half-way between both planets. "You're.... not mad, are you...?" he raised an eyebrow, unsure about whether or not to trust her. "She had to come back... That world needs protecting too..." he started explaining.
Or making excuses, both were pretty much accurate.
"She and Susan give me my best friend, and, and we keep the planet safe together..." he shook his head. "I had to.."

Eara nodded. Once Julius parked, she took off the helmet and stretched a bit, waiting for him patiently to guide the way.
She didn't know cities. She hadn't visited one for a good while now, well, save the base, but at least she was dressed for it.
She was wearing a ratty, faded pair of jeans that had holes in the knees and elsewhere, a cut-up and redesigned t-shirt and sandals completing the outfit.
As for her ears, she simply used a bandanna to cover that, although she kept the piercings she already had visible. Finishing with some eyeliner and pink-tinted lipgloss, she was the complete opposite of what she'd been before.
By all accounts, she looked like she'd been living among humans for years.
She yawned, loud and long, stretching again as she looked around. "All these buildings..." she sighed. "We should go to the woods after this."
Ah!
Suddenly it clicked. Eara's place wasn't surrounded by metal and technology; she was a forest child. She hadn't left the base for the past week for certain, and had seldom left the base for anything outside of work for the past few months.
Games may've been leisure for the guys, but leisure for Eara was stretching out and basking in the sun on a rock somewhere, preferably after bathing in a stream.
She adjusted her bandanna before looking to Jules again. "I look alright, right...?"

Kitaria gave the child a stern look. "We will discuss that later. You are lucky you are not a full hunter yet. But first, we find Herne's informant and supplier."
-----

Julius smiled as he walked with Eara. "You look perfect. Just like one of the rats."

Eara nodded, a bit shy about the entire thing. "I've been working on it... I have to blend in after all..."
She didn't know what to expect from Fir, but she was on her toes--so she thought.
When they entered the pizza place, she found herself unable to speak, her explosion at Fir still sharp and awkward in her mind.
She decided to keep with the original plan, however-----let Julius do the talking.
She couldn't decide whether she was mad he pulled all this without telling them or excited to see him after a week.
It was really, really weird how the b*****d grew on people.

Kazuhiko winced a bit. "Okaaay..." he peeked back to Tarnbsei, waving. "I gotta do something Ojiisan, tell Otousan and Okaasan I'll be home soon."
He closed the portal behind him, carefully floating down so he was eye-level with the woman. "Where do we start?"

"HI!" Maeve called, bounding over to the pair. "I missed you guys!"

Fir glanced up, gave Julius and Eara a cheeky grin and went back to his pinball game.
------

"We go to the Fir Darrig base," Kitari said.

Kazuhiko nodded, opening his portal. "Okaay..."
But he didn't let her inside immediately, he knew better.
He looked up a few feet at her, glancing between her and the gate. "Do you know who did it Kit-Kat?"

Eara caught herself smiling, hugging Maeve tightly. As tired and low as she'd been lately, there was no way she could be upset around these two. "Hey kiddo." she smiled warmly. "I missed you too! Wish I would've known where you went. What have you guys been up to the past week, hmn?"
When Fir smiled at them though, she wasn't sure whether to be happy or mad.
Part of her was overjoyed that the rascal wasn't holding grudges against her; the other part was angry.
Why was he being so laid back when they probably just spent the last week goofing off?
PostPosted: Sun Mar 02, 2008 8:21 pm

Kitaria nodded. "Yes I do."
-----

"We've been practicing illusions," Maeve said with a smile. "Fir's been workign us to the bone."

As if on cue, Fir began yelling at the pinball machine. "HELL YES. TAKE THAT PLAYER AJS!"

He definatly was full of surprises.

Eara's eyebrows raised, the woman clearly delighted. "I know a thing or two about that." she coughed softly, laughing a bit in disbelief. "Goodness Goddess... So now all we need is to get Morrigan back, and she can finish teaching you everything else. How's your brother doing?"
She still could not believe that she had heard correctly. It only took four hundred times, but finally Fir had done something...
She still wasn't going to talk to him just yet, she didn't know what to say now.
Before it probably would've been nothing nice.
"Has he been getting more grounded the more he learns?"

Kazuhiko's eyes widened. "Who???" he asked, quietly looking at the guard. "Can you let us in mister?? Please? It's kinda important please."
He'd cry if he didn't, so either way he was getting in.
Not many people could endure the guilt of making such a genuinely cheerful and loving kid cry.

The guard glanced at Kit. "Sorry. Kit can't come in. You can, though."
-----

"Much better," Maeve confirmed with a smile. She looked back at Thom (who was watchign Itachi) and smiled. "I'll fil you in on the rest later," she whispered to the woman with a little giggle.

Eara nodded softly. "Right, right." she winked. "I'm going to go talk to Fir."
She approached the man slowly, cautious; she wasn't sure if her pride was bruised from being proven wrong, or if it was crowing since he finally listened to her.
Probably a bit of both.
She lingered behind him, watching the game with a raised eyebrow. "What... is... this?" she asked, clearly intrigued.
Another crucial reason the woman didn't play the games much, was because she didn't know how.
She had never seen many of the contraptions humans used for entertainment nowadays, even if she had been at the base for what seemed like forever.

Kazuhiko didn't start crying, however. He smiled. "Ok."
But instead he grabbed Kitaria and teleported inside. After all, he made the shields to prevent people from getting in.
"Now what?"
