Fasumbra - I need to ask you a question about our battle if you're still here..
Fasumbra As he neared her right side he suddenly swung the weapon with tremendous force and speed..
Now, my question is, where exactly are you intending to strike? My foot, my head, my side, where? O_o You never specified...And I kinda prefer to know all the details so I can counter properly.

Monseiru X if going strict with the mage types and magics and with no subclasses under the other magic type, the only offensive attack a white mage has is holy. if they're heretic, they might wanna learn dark holy. the black mage is nothing but offense and status. so... it'll be a battle of who has the best mp count- who's the last person to heal/attack. and not only that, the black mages are stronger than white mage, magic power-ly.
i love me a white mage. but they'd get their asses handed to them. Well they do have reflect...

Holy's a bitching attack. And White Mage can, again, null the enemy spells like hell - and if it got down to running out of MP, White Mage'd beat Black shitless. XP

In FFXI it would probably be Red Mage > Black Mage >< White Mage. I.e. it depends on the skill of the player, too.
That is, if we're going by the more recent definitions and abilities. Even if they don't get subjobs like in XI, Red would still come out on top. They can enfeeble to no end (Silence, anyone?) and use a sword to interrupt the casting of others and do more damage at no MP cost.
If we go turn-based style, probably Black Mage. You know they get ridiculously powerful spells, and with turn-based you don't have to worry about really long casting times or interruptions. Black Mage gets Drain and Aspir/Osmose, too. Those spells are invaluable.
White Mage has great survival abilities (Cure, status cures, Blink, Stoneskin) but no real damage unless you count games like Tactics where Holy does good damage. In Tactics they could probably "0wn," but Black and Red can simply do more damage otherwise. Besides, with Aspir it just means that a White Mage will run out of MP faster. No more cures for you.

...Personally, I belive miss Binatica is in the right on this one. I belive that a backstory can be the basis upon all their powers. The charector itself should be powerful, not LEARN how to be strong. For example, my main charector Fas has trained for over 4000 years to learn how to convert Mana. Now I know that sounds stupid, but listen to what I mean. It is MY belife that Mana resides in EVERYTHING in existance. EVERYTHING. If you have no Mana, then you don't exist. THEREFORE, That would explain why Fas would need to train for thousands of years to get good at it, as well as the fact that he's STILL training. In other words, to be blunt, Fas' skills are almost god-like. Except for the fact that Mana Conversion is very tireing, and Fas, even with his massive energy count, becomes tired after converting Mana, as had been demonstrated.
Therefore, I feel Binatica has every right to destroy his weapon. Hell, I would too if I got my hands on any of my opponet's weapons. I'm expecting him to pull some bullshit about it being a "ledgendary weapon" and indestructable. My personal weapons are destroyable, it's just that they're REALLY hard to destroy. But that's beside the point.
The point is Binatica is in the right.

Typhoon_Omi White Mages [FF1 and on] always have a fairly nice melee alternative, such as the Hammer, yadda. Black Mages don't. White Mages can have some decent HP. Black Mages never do. what the ******** are you talking about black mages usually have shanks white mages get staves just cast bio for the win cure the HP damage OR the poison not both which do you choose miss white mage AHAHAHA cast bio again AHAHAHA cast bio again OWNED

Chris Custard ...the black mage would KILL the white mage. LIEZ!
Black Mage: RAHR RAHR METEOR RAHR
White Mage: [Shell, cure.]
Black Mage: [From hence fouth, does considerably less damage.] ..poopy. FIRAGAMRAHR RAH-
White Mage: [Curaga, each time an offensive spell is cast.]
Black Mage: haha u noe wut? ULTIMAAAA-
White Mage: Hooolyyy-
Black Mage: .. i r no healing magic. fook plz.
(Items aside, eventually, they both run out of MP due to constant attack/healage.)
White Mage: [Slightly higher HP & not too sub-par physical attacks.] Sup b***h?
Black Mage: [Extremely low HP, only has staffs.] ..hi. dont hurt me plz-AHHEEEHEEEEEK!
Then, if it got down to items, any advantage Black Mage had, White Mage'd have. And both, depending on the game, can learn Silence - so we can't use that as a "BM PWN" point.

In general, in MOST RPG(s), they get staffs. They get anks. That's it. And bio? Ever hurt of, ohhhh.. Remedy, Regen, etc.? White Mage can just cast Regen, then focus on Holy'ing the s**t out of BM save when seriously hurt, which won't be very often after a Shell casting. We33!

thank you chris, for being a man of reason.
like i said, i love white mages. all the pretty reflect and cures, you can't beat 'em. but you can't reflect lvl4 [-aja] magic. so... reflect if you want, you're still catching a blizzaja. the only thing a white mage can do is cast holy, which is a stronger spell and has a longer cast time... it should but don't quote me on that... so the mage can probably move before that very readable spell is cast. i mean, it's the only spell in a white mage's arsenal that calls down a beam of light, by any name, in any game. ff6 pearl dropped the balls of light on you, fft holy completely white out the screen after the beam came down and spread.
you've GOT to be stupid if you sit there and let that hit you... or sleeping or casting your own magic.
the only thing is that a black mage can't heal. if the white mage gets in more than two hits of holy or reflected magic, it's over.

you do realize we're all discussing the details of magic systems for completely different games right?
i'm talking about ff4 here
perhaps we should figure out what we're talking about before talking
