It was strange to Miki. This woman was being very kind and looking past her faults, treating her much like a mother with her own child. With more kindness in her voice than most of the ones at the adoption agency combined; a strange exception to the case of human beings. Cleaning, food, rest........they were words that while one would take in normal stride, Miki had not heard addressed to her for the longest time.
But the cuts did sting a bit, each one being cleaned oh-so-carefully and slowly to ensure the riddance of the germs that were probably welled up within them, and even though the girl bit her lip to keep from crying out, there were various times where she winced slightly and cried out in pain, feeling the refreshing yet burning feeling run through her wounds like a rush of a wave at the beach. It became a pattern: wound examination by Yuki, cleaning, bandage.
The girl was now slightly covered from the head down to her legs in bandages, and her cut on her knee also wrapped up nice and tightly just like the rest. The child said not a word until the woman pointed out her briused feet, and asked how long she had been walking about.
"Quite awhile, really. W-well, if you mean recently, I've beent trying to beat the blizzard-like weather and tried to caculate how fast I'd need to go. I started really hiking about three weeks ago......but apparently my caculations were quite off, since it's snowing and all." the girl shrugged, as she fought off her ongoing headache, hence the pausing in her speech.
"But as for in general-"
dum, dum, dum, went her head.
"-I've been hiking about for about two months aaaand...........5 months or so." she answered, happy for her feet getting bandaged especially. "I can't thank you enough for helping me out; it means so much to me...."

Yuki smiled. "That's sad. Having to walk aroud for so long. Originally, my father took me away from ere, but I ran away and came back, started up a small buissness. I came from a rather wealthy family, so instead of begging me to come back, well... he just sends money each month." Yuki finished wrapping the small girl's wounded feet. "There, now why don't we go and get you some food, then send you off to bed?" she said picking up the small girl. "Hope you don't mind me carrying you. You really should rest your feet for now,". With that, she opened the door, thanked Rina, and walked back to the living room. She sat the small girl down and began to speak in ENGLISH for once. "Okay, guys, she speaks Japanese, so if you don't understand just say you don't speak Japanese." She turned and faced the girl. "Most of them only speak English, some speak French or Spanish, and one or two know some Japanese, but if you don't understand, just say 'I don't un-der-stand.' 'K?"

((Writer's block! sweatdrop I don't really know what to write)) Yuki wlked into the living room with the girl in her arms. Ciel nodded as Yuki explined in Eniglish that the girl spoke Japanese. Ciel looked at the girl, now bandaged up as tried the remember the few wrods of japanese. Yuki turned to the girl and began to speak to the girl once again in Japanese. Probably telling the girl nearly the same thing.

Miki listened to Yuki's shortened version of the life story with interest. So she too had had issues with her family in the past; perhaps that was what made the girl so keen to help others. It would make sense that way. But this girl was being honest; perhaps she should know the truth...but not right this moment. While one would think that Miki would need to use the restroom for it's actual purpose, she had spent less than 50 minutes ago in a public one, for both relief and for the sake of warming up a bit from the hidious blizzard. After all, "her kind" wasn't really allowed in nice places very much, so public places were accustomed to her. But it had warmed her up none, hence why she was still frozen both when she left and when she arrived here.
She suddenly felt herself picked up, and rather comfortable in the caring woman's arms. It was strangely nice, being all bandaged and in the arms of another, even though Miki was still a smelly mess most likely. Not from dirt (since it was snowing for the past while now), but from just walking about in general. "Nah, I don't mind, Ms. Yuki. It's rather....warm, actually." she answered with a small smile and a stiffled yawn as she rested her head against Yuki, her headache now taking toll as she just laid there like some infantile child for a few moments. She closed her eyes, and didn't notice that the girl from before was outside with some sort of clothing for Yuki.
She felt herself enter the warm living room again, and was surprised to find herself slightly disappointed when she was sat down upon the chair, but made herself properly sit up for a moment as people were still being addressed, and she played with Ami's messy hair. She was not disappointed because of the chair (for it was beyond comfortable and very nice), but simply because as weird as it was, she had enjoyed laying in the arms of another in a comforting matter. Strange, this was not like Miki; her job was to take care of only herself and to not give emotion any care, to hide it from view. Could this be due to losing her parents at the small age of 4? Was this infintile act really within reason? It was hard to judge, and she didn't know what to think, really.
She listened as both sides were clued in on the language barrier. "I....understand. I speak bits of language of English, but not enough to fill all situations. I'll take your advice." The girl nodded, this time speaking in broken English. She had been living by streets, and therefore picked it up bits and pieces at the streets. She was mentally surprised to see the wagon still by the door and not shoved outside like usual, but it seems that the girl herself had been the main concern for a change.

Yuki smiled. "I will teach you then." to Miki. "What's your name? I wasn't told," she asked before walking into the kitchen behind a small counter. She got out some white rice, and some salmon she had in the fridge. She looked through the cabenits and got out some bananna leaves, and a bamboo sushi roller thing. (I have no clue what they're called) She quickly went to work making some sushi for Miki.

((I dunno what they're called either. >.>))
"Ah! Sorry, I completely forgot! I'm Miki." she answered, not bothering with the last name for now. She made herself comfortable and curled up like a cat on the chair, resting her head on the arm of the chair as she watched the woman enter the kitchen. While Miki was tempted to go to sleep (since she was ill, after all), she was surprised that the food was apparently not some joke like she figured, for she saw the woman searching for ingredients for something, as well as rice. As if her stomach had eyes, it made a dull cry. The young girl had been fortunate to come to this place; she had merely been following a dream left by her older brother, who was now gone. Who has been gone...all of them were....
NO! It was useless lingering on sad thoughts; she had to force the depression that the sickness was giving her away, and she instead turned her thoughts to the warm room, and the kind inhabitants in it. She was really thankful for it all.

Yuki smiled. "Miki. That's a nice name. I hope you like sushi, Miki-chan," she said comming back in with sushi on a small platter-like dish, along with a pair of chop sticks.

Miki's ears almost literally made a physical twitch at the sound of the word 'sushi'. Rubbing her eyes to prevent sleep from entering into her just yet, she was surprised and yet totally beyond happy to see Yuki carrying in a food she hadn't had in ages-sushi. Pure, Japanese home-made sushi. As the tray was sat in her lap, she pinched herself to make sure she wasn't in some dream. She wasn't.
She was awestruck, and for a moment nearly stared at the food with her mouth open wide enough to catch a family of flies. "T-thank you so much!" she said, before she quickly began to 'dig in' to the food, as one could put it. Her manners were non-existant except for the sake of the napkin, and she merely picked up the food by hand and started eating it with pure delight. It was so delicious, that she for a bit had completely forgotten about her headache and illness. It was as if saying 'forget you, fever, I perfer food right now'.

Rina followed Yuki and the small, now bandaged girl into the living room, and watched with an almost bored expression as they conversed. Sighing a little, Rina walked over the girl, now known as Miki, and gently draped the shirt over the top of her head, where it billowed down to her shoulders. "...Sumi masen, Miki-san," Rina said gently, excusing herself if she was being rude for doing such a thing. She turned, keeping her eyes on the girl as she ate, and scratched the back of her head. "You might get a cold," Rina said, shrugging, forgetting for a moment that Miki didn't know English. She watched the girl for a moment before she noticed something that amused her just a bit.
"Er, sumi masen," Rina said, smiling when Miki finished a handful. She reached over to hold the girl's hands in hers. Then she made the girl clap her hands together. "Itadeki-mas!" That was what the Japanese did before eating a meal, wasn't it? Rina let the girl's hands go, unable to find any words in her scarce Japanese vocabulary to explain why she did what she did. But Rina just chuckled, sighed and made her way back over the the couch.

Yuki chuckled at this. SHe wasn't gonna scold Miki or anything. Rina did her job fore her by doing the Japanese version of our prayers before we eat here in america (even though half of us don't anyways). Yuki walked back into the kitchen, and came back with a small cup of tea for Miki. "Miki-chan, here. It's herbal tea." she said offering it to the small girl.

As Miki had finished the first handful, she saw the other woman from before come over and put a large shirt over her odd outfit. Miki didn't fully catch the part in English, but could make out something about keeping her from getting cold.
However, Miki looked a bit confused as the other lady from before placed her small hands in her larger ones, and made a clapping sound while saying what sounded familiar, yet very distant. "Strange, I don't remember that at the orphanage...." she murmured to herself, then murmured the phrase to herself a few times with clapping, a bit lost. This was a downside of leaving Japan; she had yet to learn all the customs. She had researched a ton of them one time, but that was years and years ago. The last time she remembered anyone saying that, was a distant infantile memory of her parents doing it, teaching her the same way Rina did. NOW she remembered it; just great.
She could hear both women chuckle at her inexperience, and the girl flushed a deep red and averted their eyes, falling silent. It figures she'd screw up somewhere between point A and B; usually when she heard laughter in the same room as her, it was someone laughing at her. It was something that Miki didn't like very much, but yet she heard very often. It sort of gave her a bad outlook on the sound of laughter, after countless small jobs and English conversations. They were her worst memories.
As she had finished up the last bit of sushi, she remembered the ending phrase and used the same clapping motion at her empty sushi plate, for she had devoured it all: "Gochiso-sama!" At teh sound of the girl offering her the herbal, she thanked Yuki quietly and took a sniff at the healing tea; it was nice to her headache, and was nicely decreasing it, as if relieving the pressure. She sipped it quietly.

Ciel stood by the wall in the living room, watching the commotion between Yuki, Rina, and...Ciel was sure Yuki had called her "Miki-chan" several times. Ciel smiled as Rina clapped Miki-chan's hands together and said "Itadaki-masu!" before she ate. She recognized it. A friend of her mother had shown it to her once when she was little. After Yuki came in with the tea, Ciel decided to join Miki and the others. Using her limited amount of Japanese Ciel said, "Konnichi-wa, Miki-chan," Ciel paused, "Um...watashi...onamae...Ciel!" She was trying to say "Hello Miki. My name is Ciel" but it didn't come out well. She only hoped Miki-chan could understand her broken Japanese.

Miki had looked up when she noticed the third girl (who she remembered was called Ciel), actually take the leap and attempt to communicate with her. This surprised Miki; this was usually what she had to do in English, so it was weird to see someone try to accomdiate to her. The girl smiled a rare, kind smile, and broke her silent spell for a moment and tried her best in English to respond. After all, the girl did it for her, so why not return the favor?
"It's nice to meet you, Ciel. Your Japanese is not bad at all, especially since it is a language you are not accustomed to." Miki commented the girl before taking another sip of tea. "Is English your main language, or do you speak others as well?" she asked, hopefully wording it right, though she wasn't sure. But Miki was trying to start conversation; after all she knew very little about this one and the language barrier made it hard to learn, but it's worth a try.

Yuki chuckled again noticing the hopefulness in Miki's eyes, and understood what she was probably thinking. "Miki-chan, you did word it right, but you shout make your sentences flow a little, like you would in your own language. Right now, I think you're fine, but when you learn to speak English better, let's hope it comes naturally. You are a smart girl, after all." She turned to Ceil. "I could teach you some Japanese too if you want?"

Miki continued to sniff and sip the herbal tea; it was doing wonders for her headache, and she could finally see clearly and concentrate a bit, although she could feel the flush of her fever now. She shrugged it off now; it probably wasn't a good thing to do, but she wasn't about to show weakness to her host. She had shown enough already.
As this said person spoke to her, Miki nodded in agreement, and suddenly realized that she had thrown in a compliment. Strange, it's been awhile, whether Yuki was merely joking or not. Right now, though, Miki could care less. Fully comfortable, she lay quiet while the others talked, and she kept feeling her head droop, then jerk back up, fighting off sleep. She couldn't sleep now; it was important for her to stay awake and fight off fever. A funny pattern:
Droop droop droop........jerk! Blink really fast! Droop droop droop........jerk! Blink really fast, and yawn adoarblely while rubbing eyes, cup now on the table next to her. Show serious face of concentation.
