Hello, orange! I am doing great seeing how my country's National Day is soon approaching. One of my favorite days of the year! biggrin We eat ice cream, wear our national costumes and sleep late. What more could you ask for?

Yes, it is! And children walk in parades, waving flags, wearing their costumes and singing our song. And this isn't just a little parade, there are literally hundreds of parades everywhere in the country, all which are huge! As for our costumes, it depends where you live. For example, people who live north wear a blue one with flower patterns, while people south wear a black one with loads of green or red colors.

Here's an example National Costume

I don't know who those people are, I just found the picture on Wikipedia. smile

That is awesome!!! They are kind of like the costumes that my town has. Every couple of years, we have this major Swedish celebration and the kids they dance for the adults and our towns population goes from like 3k to 10k for that weekend. Well, when I was a child, I had to do this so I had to wear the swedish costumes that look like the ones that you have to wear.

Sorry, I would have replied faster but the 4 times that I was going to reply, I either got called to do some kind of chores for my family or I fell asleep. I am at my grandma's house right now and I am surprised that I even was able to get to the Haven because she has Dial-up internet.

Other than that, Yuudai, your national day seems awesome. Parades are always fun. I wish that on July 4, America's Independance day, that we did more things than just shooting off fireworks (which is a lot of fun though).

Wow! That sounds awesome! Yeah, why can't the 4th of July be that exciting? I love to shoot off fireworks, though.
But I really don't like sparklers, those fireworks you hold.

That's right! Swedish, Danish and Norwegian culture is very much alike, and I'm pretty sure we celebrate our National Day(s) the same way as well. And don't worry about answering too late or something of the like, as long as you eventually answer that's good enough for me. smile

Most fireworks are illegal in Norway though since so many people have blown their fingers off while they were showing off their 'skills' with fireworks. They're usually teenagers. confused

I can see the teenagers around here doing something like. Wait..... THEY DO!!! Seriously people shoot fireworks at each other. Its crazy. I mean its fun but incredibly dangerous. Me personally I blowing things up. Small things, like pop cans and that kind of stuff. I like to see how high in the air I can get them to. I think my record so far is 75 or so feet in the air!

I don't really like sparklers either When I was littler, I got slightly burned a lot by them but I like to look at other people using them!

eek
Woah! That's far! Coolness! My friends and family usually come over to my house to celebrate New Years. The last one we had, my friend, her brothers, and I had a soda can explode! It was awesome! [And no, it didn't have any soda in it at the time]. We put a little firework inside and lit it. Sparks flew out of it and everything!

It was fun! But luckily no one got hurt. We did it on purpose. I like fireworks and all, but I'm not stupid as to shoot them at someone.

My Grandpa hold Roman candles in his hands. We keep telling him that one day he is gonna have it blown off but he never listens. My uncle knows what we talk about though, when he was little, he had one explode in his hand and now it is all scarred.

Yuudai, what kind of fireworks are legal in Norway?
I think that the only ones that are illegal in my state are bottle rockets but people still build them anyway.

Hello Rayne! Are you new, fairly new, or just haven't posted a lot in the common room?? I tend to lose track of people so I just want to make sure for my own records.

To gerp: Oh, that have got to hurt! Is his hand alright though? Can he still use it, despite that it's very scarred? I hope so. Sounds terribly painful. confused Anyways, I'm not quite sure what those types of fireworks are called in English, but they have some sort of 'ingridient' that makes them extra explosive and even more dangerous than regular ones.

To Rayne: Welcome! Or at least I think it is since I have never seen you here before. smile

Well, that's nice to know. That would teach a person not to play with fireworks.

Rayne, I know I haven't seen you around here before, but welcome!

We love having you here.
