>>His mind STILL reeled as they drifted across the ocean, mind barely focused enough to keep the both of them airborne. The woman laid...the princess laid on his back, arms crossed over his chest and shoulders. A princess was LAYING on him! A princess! Well, granted she was who she claimed she was. And of Dreia...that part was a little far fetched, however the woman did scream nobility...His yawn cracked in a yawn, his body instantly aching upon the admittance of weakness. They had been island hopping, but Maryline was dead set in getting there as fast as possible. She didn't answer why she had to get there so quickly...only that if she didn't get there in time, her life and the life of another were in grave danger. After a while, he stopped asking, merely going on longer stretches before landing for a small break. It had been over two hours...His eyes jerked to the side at a sound. A seagull? Seagulls were never far from land!<< Hey, Princess? I'm going to take another pit stop on the island coming. >>No answer. He shifted the weight slightly on his back<< Princess? >>Her arms felt loose. Was she...Sleeping?! The gall! He resisted the urge to do a spin, unsure if she would keep onto his back. Especially with one of his hands taken up by her bag. He was getting so tired though...And the chief was going to tear him a new one with this. But...He turned his head, dark brown eyes falling onto the midnight haired woman. He could see a small spot amongst the black, close down to the roots, that still held a bit of gold. A blue eyed blonde. He should have known. Jack tore his gaze away to look back in front, faintly smiling now. He was always a sucker for a damsel in distress...after all, helping people was what got him into the force anyhow...AHA! Land-Whoa. He blinked against the wind, powerfully beating his wings again. Not an island however...no...this was much larger. Much. They had crossed the ocean<< Princess...Princess. Wake up. >>He lightly bounced her<< Maryline! >>Her eyes flickered at the 'wake up', her jaw just parting for a yawn-<< Ah! >>Her grip immediately tightened as her eyes went wide. The woman’s heart felt fit to run right out of her chest<< Have you gone mad?! Y-ow! >>He winced as she shouted in his ear, tilting his head slightly away<< Perhaps. >>That was a grumble though, caught up in the wind and lost forever. Transporting a random woman who he just met illegally over an entire ocean without so much as a hint to headquarters...he had gone mad<< We're there. Have a good nap up there darlin? I... >>the faintest tint of blush appeared on her cheeks, mascara'd eyes shocked<< My deepest apologies. If ill dreams had not found me...>>She shook her head. No excuses<< You have my truest gratitude for all you have done for me, Sir Jack...>>Well...damn...Who could be upset at that?<< Don't sweat it sweetheart...At least I have quite the interesting story to tell back home. Still... >>A delicate smile lighted on her lips, instantly warming her tone<< I wish I could do more. Hey...hey. You're doing plenty. Saving a life and all that, right? >>He could honor that. Smoothly he angled down towards the land<< >>She rested her head upon his shoulder, still faintly smiling as he descended while images flashed in her mind. Solstice, Trelweny, Anon, Rune, Aki…Zell…and now Jack. She had met so many kind anthros while here. Perhaps Zell was wrong…perhaps she was wrong. This future wasn’t so different from her present<< Everyone is…so very kind here. About that. >>His eyes snapped back into focus on the scene before them<< You just can’t go up to people like that, and ask them out of the blue to help you with something big like this. There are some sick people out there, who would whisk of you off in a heartbeat. You got real lucky with me… >>Why did everyone keep telling her that? Nothing that horrid had happened to her yet…<< I understand. >>He nodded, and fanned out his wings as his legs began to fall forwards. The male felt her shift now, moving her arms up, and wrapping her legs around his waist. He would never picture a princess like this…but who was complaining? His feet touched the shore, coaxing him into a jog until he slowed to a stop<< This is as far as I can take ya. >>She clutched to his back with a death grip as suddenly it was all her keeping her body from crashing into the sea. She couldn’t die here, not here. She had to get to the castle before Zell…she just had to. As he landed, slowly she allowed herself to loosen, and drop from him. The female stretched then, and fixed her gown<< I cannot express my eternal gratitude enough, Sir Jack. Without you, I am uncertain if I would have made it here safely. >>The man almost blushed! Praised by a beautiful exotic woman? Definitely one of his fonder moments in life<< Don’t worry about it. Here. Your bag. >>He all too happily handed the heavy thing over<< ...This is goodbye, ain't it? >>Gracefully she bowed her head, slender fingers taking hold of her bag handle<< Aye. I shall not forget you, Sir Jack. Perhaps our paths will cross once more? >>He snorted slightly, kicking at the ground slightly at her head bow<< Doubtfully. You're getting yourself in a baaad place. But I'll always look for ya. After all, a regal blonde like you would be a little hard to miss. >>Those blue eyes widened slightly as her head snapped up, a hand reaching up to a midnight curl<< Regal blonde... >>A small smile flitted onto her smooth lips, just curving the corners as she nodded in acceptance<< You truly are quite the slueth. Merry met, and merry part, Sir Jack. Keep safe, princess. Be a shame if the world lost someone like ya. >>And with that, he started walking down the shore. First he'd find an inn to stay at, sleep for five hours, and then possibly work up to leaving. If he summoned enough courage to face the cheif<< >>And she of course, went straight, walking right to the nearest street. And then...stood right in the middle of it. Afterall, the tactic had worked so well before<<
>>Without another word, he solemnly nodded and sat down, right next to the pillow with his hidden book. Keep Solstice here? This was serious. Something to get even the dragoness riled up. His jaw tightened then at the sigh, and instantly his heart dropped to his stomach<< She... >>He whispered, for a moment his face contorting in a mixture of sadness and pity<< I knew this would happen. >>Those bright emerald eyes closed, sharp mind already tallying off what he would see to be done before departing<< She should have stayed here. >>Which was worse? Being captured, or going to your future captors? The male slowly stood<< I'll be ready to leave in 15. Surprising. >>His head snapped up to the staircase, eyes just catching the smooth porceline skin of Solstice's legs as she walked down, donned in a silken black night robe. Her face was calm, cold...as unchanging as ever unless in anger<< What are you doing up so early? Naeco got hungry. >>Only when she had reached the bottom floor did she let those shocking green eyes focus on the two males, full of the crisp chill her face so aptly mirrored<< I'll be ready in 15 to 17. Depending on how quickly Aki writes as I get changed. You're not going. >>His tone was flat as he looked right back at one of the most terrifying females he'd ever encountered<< >>Her hands fell to her hips, chin raising slightly as her midnight hair shifted<< Why? Naeco. Your daughter. You're her mother if you haven't forgotten. I don't know how long we'll be gone. Anon can watch over her. She's babysat Naeco enough. >>He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Moreso, he couldn't believe what he was saying. Solstice finally starts to show that she actually liked all of them, and he was as good as smacking her hand for it. But she had a kid...a baby, not even a child yet...<< She needs her mother. Anon is not her mother, and if something happened to you...If there's fighting and something happens... Anon just stopped crying at night, I don't want to see her start back up again. >>She slipped in, the corner of her mouth tightening slightly. She knew about how the fallen angel cried, about the nightmares she tried to deny. They both did; her and Aki. Thanks to Lucifer, they at last stopped. And then started again when he abandoned her. The pain just began to ebb, but if she found out that she was losing another close anthro, possibly two with aki...<< Idiotic fluffs. I knew this would happen. I'll be fine. I'm as good as a fighter as you. And if something happens you're going to leave her as a single parent to a child thats not even hers? >>He was surprised...morning Solstice was remarkably easy to handle. He hadn't been killed yet<< ... >>She softly growled, turned, and walked into the kitchen<< Fine. >>Maybe he should save all debates for the morning. He could get used to this<<

Maryline. Princess. Regal blonde. Blue-eyed. Dyed hair. Make-up. Dreia. It had taken some doing for the Talented even in merging to find the one voice among the many. One stranger's voice who was not blocking them as the princess herself was managing to do quite effectively. Of course even in such emergency they were sticking to their protocols & scanning surface thoughts only. More would be a very serious breech & though they would... not to the general populace without just cause. Besides... the surge of thoughts, of voices, on the surface alone of all those on Gaia was nearly overwhelming as it was. It was no wonder Trelweny tended to inhibit too much of her Talent to keep them at bay. One could easily go mad from the turmoil. Now the collective of minds was bright and ablaze with hope.
*We have a confirmed sighting!!* The force of the telepathic merge shuddered those who received it in their places. Which was everyone in the 'family' pretty much -who were not too young or immature to understand. Seifer blinked, feeling his girl within the merge. Rune...? A mental nod from the merge & a hug his only answer. The gunblader was stunned as he listened to the rest of the mental report. So the Runes had retained more of that Guardian Force's abilities his had talked of? And somehow Trelweny in her uninhibited state was either able to unlock or otherwise draw it forth? Ever the tactician, Seifer wondered if this was a permanent thing.
And the father in him wondered what effect this mind merge as well as the power itself would have on their unborn children.
*Maryline! Is she SAFE though?* Anxiety raked the young fistfighter's thought. Soothing tendrils of thought wrapped around his consciousness. *She was when the cop left her on the beach. The Princess has been fortunate in the one she asked to help her yet again.* A reference of course to when she asked Zell. *He was worried though, about her trusting too easily. We can hope Princess Maryline has the gift of luck some call being God's Beloved Daughter - that it will keep her from most dangers and harm.* The thought collective did not need to say that even being God's Beloved Daughter even the best gift of luck would not likely on its own protect the Princess from danger she put herself in. Nodding mutely that he understood, Zell clenched his fists beneath his invisibility cloak. He almost started when he felt not just Illyana's but Seifer's hand too find and grip his upper arms in a gesture both to hold him back and console. *Thanks...* Thought softly, trusting in the collective to share it.
Before another question could be asked the merge 'spoke' again. *The cop did not stay to watch which way she went. We only know she went a way other than he did. We are checking the nearest towns for sights of a stranger fitting the new images of Maryline from his mind.*
Zell nodded. *kay. Keep me informed. And... thank him somehow, kay?* The merge smiled, mentally hugging the SeeD. *Of course. After this... before we break the merge.* That was their Zell... one of many reasons why they loved him. Even as hurt & anxious & worried as he was, Zell still wanted what was right done. They'd find a way to help this undercover cop Jack. Perhaps a nudge to his chief that his dalliance helped his cover because what guy wouldn't try to hook up with a female like Princess Maryline? It sure would have looked funny for him to turn her down. Perhaps also a suggestion that Jack needed a raise. Things the winged male could not do on his own. Surely he would have too much pride for them to give assistance on his case.
But that was for later. A blink in their merged thoughts now, nothing more.
Hemi sat back, sighing internally as Solstice came down the stairs. Not good... She would not want to be left behind. He opened his mouth to speak. She HAD to be though. Naeco...
Silently the kitsusagi watched as the conversation went on without him, slowly closing his mouth. Baby blue eyes watched it all in a state of shock. Especially when the dragoness was convinced -to him- quite easily. Poor Anon... crying at night?.
"I can come back... wait here after I've taken you to the other anthros..." There was an odd note in Hemi's sweet voice. He was not allowed to go either. Not unless they needed all fighting hands (paws, talons, whatever). Or in his case... waiting to be needed for healing. Thankfully he was much better now, but if there were many bad injuries ....
The healer wizard did not want to think about it. He didn't want it to come to fighting.
*We have a confirmed sighting!!*
Hemi jolted, and nodded to Aki to get ready as he listened to the mental communication. Hard to say how long it lasted.
*We're on Alert*
"She's been spotted but not found exactly on the coast of Dreia. We're on alert and will be moving as soon as the 'paths have a fresh sighting report." Blue eyes looked steadily at the water dragon male. He was not smiling, and no tail wagged. "You about ready?"
((I hate figuring out when to do tactical things. Do you know how hard it is keeping everyone from overriding me to land on the spot Jack last saw her and fan out from there? Only because I can convince them doing so would be like declaring war & probably would put Maryline in even worse danger is helping at all.
...hmm... I should really put that in, but I'm not sure how or where...))

Papers? Papers? >>The princess slowly opened her eyes, her body slightly stiff from sleeping in one spot. So hot. Slowly she slid a hand up her body to wiggle a peeping hole through the mound of freshly cleaned laundry. A police man was at the window, holding up the crisp white papers and reading them over before handing them back to the old woman. The watch on his wrist read 1 o'clock. She had been back here for three hours? The female didn't recall the trek from here being quite so long. Maryline hunkered back down into her warm cocoon, hiding once more. They must be close if security was being pushed up...The car lurched forwards, and the radio sputtered to life once more<< You can get up now if you'd like sweety. That'll be the last check point to my place. >>More then happy to oblige, she sat up, and gently rubbed her shoulder. It was cramped to say in the least, a 4 seat white toyota. It didn't even have back doors. But she wasn't about to scoff or complain...not at such a kind act<< Are you certain this is all right? Well I very well couldn't leave such a young thing out on the street to get run over. People drive all sorts of crazy speeds. You'd think it was the race track! >>The princes smiled at the small frame infront of her. She liked Carol. Thank Arigon that she had just come from visiting her granddaughter...otherwise, she might have gotten another Chez. The thought sent a phantom shudder down her spine, and steeled her gaze. Her determination. It was worth it, all this was worth it. The reliance of strangers, the difficult traveling conditions, the anxiety and stress...was worth it to keep him safe<< Ah...here we are...welcome, to Dreia. >>Her blue eyes snapped to the nearest window, her smile broadening. Her kingdom, her home, her...The smile, died. A thick smog clung to the air, tinting the normal blue to a gray. No birds flew. The factories that pumped it out were everywhere. Like weeds, they gripped the country at the roots, and slowly killed the land. If it could be called land. Not a blade of grass stood, no tree visable as her kingdom morphed into a world of pavement and stone, a city. Where it once was a place of rolling hills, flowers and cottages, now it was of industrialization. Her kingdoms heart, had turned black. If she looked out the windsheild, she could just see the top spirals of a large building. The castle. That was where she had to go<< It...it is...certainly a grand force. Grand force, bah. It gets the job done, but with all this smoke, I wont live much past 70. I read somewhere before that once this actually was a War kingdom. War Kingdom... >>She closed her eyes. It was, back in her time. But it hadn't looked like this. The battlements were at the edges, keeping the enemy out...Dreia was beautiful<< Hard to believe, I agree. But aparently, it was once a very important place. Controlled most of this side of the ocean, and certainly was the most powerful. Such a shame...wouldn't have minded to live in that sort of time. Now people don't even know what a Dreia is! >>She flinched as if physically struck, though the words stung all the same. She was aware of that. It hurt however to hear it<< Aye...one would have never thought... >>She reached up to gently touch the cold glass of her tiny window. They would just be entering the start of her manors property...and yet buildings still ruled over once-gardens. Replacing the fountains and servant cottages<< Do you know of why? Why it changed? >>She clicked her tongue in her mouth before slowing the vehicle down to a stop at a red light<< Now, I've only been around for Roman and his fathers rule. But both, are stupid. They don't know what in the world they're doing up there. King Roman also has a son you know...the next heir. He inherited half of his fathers intelligence. Thank God I wont be alive to see what he does here. >>She nodded slightly, somber now. A series of ill rulers would run the kingdom into the ground. She didn't know about his son however-Her gaze snapped to the old woman. God?! That was different. Surprising that Roman let some people worship another diety. The car turned, and then slowed to a stop. Out came the keys, as the old woman sighed infront of her<< This is as far as I can take you. Be careful though sweety...That King Roman is a fickle one, he is. Be just as likely to make you a wife as to have you executed. >>There was a difference? The princess nodded, fiddling through the shirts and undergarments to find her black bag once more. Then again, Carol didn't know. She hadn't told her half of what she told Jack, to try and keep everything quiet<< Thank you...You have done above and beyond any expectations. >>Her slender hands clasped upon the handle before slipping inside the bag. A golden coin flashed out from the purse within to curve into the young womans palm<< Even knowing that bringing an outsider in without documentation would bring misfortune upon you... Oh those tin cans wouldn't touch an old senile woman like me. All paperwork just to have me die on them before they got me in a cell! >>For emphisis, she gave a small cough. She unbuckled herself and turned her head, kindly brown eyes krinkling<< I'll be fine. >>The woman lightly frowned, shaking her head<< Be that as it may... >>Maryline reached out and gently took one of Carol's hands. It was soft...warm...fragile. Almost as if she was holding a dream. She pressed the gold coin into it<< I know not if this currency still takes hold of Dreia, however I have faith that some merchant or collector will be willing to trade for a fair amount. >>The old grandmother blinked at the midnight haired girl before her, curious. Those soft eyes then traveled down to the coin. A pheonix, rising from the crashing waves before it was devoured. But this...this was the family crest. She deeply frowned<< How did you... Farewell Lady Carol. May you wake to see the sunrise, and Arigon smile kindly on your soul. >>She stepped down on the pedal of the passanger seat, pushing it forwards just as she opened the door. The princess grabbed her bag and started to get out<< Arigon? >>My it had been years since she heard that name! She had been but a kitten back then. Her orange ears twitched slightly, her free hand reaching up slightly<< Are you some sort of Historian? >>Maryline stepped completely into the sunlight, taking a deep breath upon the feel of its warm rays against her pale flesh. Even as she got goosebumps from the sudden chill of winter<< Not I, dear Lady Carol. I am but a reminiscer. >>She closed the door, and started out to the northeast. Towards the heart of the city...her country<< >>He gave a sharp nod, tearing his eyes away from the kitchen<< Give me a few minutes. I have to grab a few things. >>Without wasting any time for responses, he quickly made his way up the stairs and into his room. 5 minutes was all it took for the dragon to finish putting on his robes, strap on his dual swords, and run a quick brush through his hair. He started out, grabbing his wallet on second thought. Incase they needed to buy supplies. He started down the hallway<< Ah-key?>>He froze after passing solstice's room, and leaned back slightly to peer in. There the little hybrid laid, curled up in a mound of her mothers silken blankets. Just a baby, sleeping with her mother. She was getting big though. Soon a child. They grew up so fast...<< Hey sweets. Your ma'll be here in a minute. Just getting some breakfast. >>As she blinked her golden eyes, he softly sighed, and walked into the room. It could be the last time he ever saw her...He glanced at the floorboards, where approximatly Hemi would be. He didn't have much time though<< Come here. >>She blinked up at him as he crossed the room, shuffling slightly to make room for him. Like she was getting out of her warm cocoon in the middle of winter! The male got the hint, and sat down beside her so she could instead curl up in his lap<< >>God she had become so affectionate these past few weeks! At least with him and Anon. He patted her soft royal blue hair<< I'm going to visit Maryline, alright? You remember her. The nice, blonde haired girl that sometimes stops by. >>What was he saying? She couldn't understand all of that. She was just a baby. Solstice still occasionally allowed her to breast feed. He sighed<< >>Blonde haired girl? She remembered. She smelled nice. Like flowers. She liked flowers. The little girl reached up to play with the others cheek. She liked to pat and stroke and trace his cheeks. They were rough, unlike moms and Awn's<< >>Ugh, he needed to shave still. Later. The male smiled into the little serpents hand<< I might be gone for a long time. I might be gone for a short time. It all depends on Maryline. I'll try to make it short. >>Something was wrong. It just felt wrong. Where was mommy? The others tone was beginning to scare her. She wiggled out of his lap<< >>He sighed again, deeper. Sadder<< Sorry Nae nae. I love you. >>He patted her fleeing head one more time before standing and walkin from the room. He jogged down the stairs just turning to the side in time to have Solstice step past to go up. His eyes followed the dragoness up<< I'm sorry Naeco. Don't forget about me. Goodbye Solstice. >>He spoke softly, emerald eyes calm<< >>She stopped at the top of the stairs, one hand olding a mug of coffee, the other a bowl of cereal. She looked over her shoulder<< Tell Anon bye for me as well. And sorry to you for that. Hell is going to break loose in an hour when she wakes. ...Just... >>She turned away to walk up the last step<< Be careful. >>She dissapeared into the hallway, her voice softly trailing behind her, almost nonexistant<< Naeco loves her Uncle. eek >>the male nodded, and looked over to Hemi, his arms beginning to cross<< Ready when you are.

'That would be now.' The usually smiling baby-blues seemed to say as the kitsusagi padded to Aki's side and putting a wing around his legs disapparated them from the cottage.
The two appeared in the clearing before the cottage. The air was still and tense with worry & anticipation. Readiness. Only the simplest of the fae and other animals played, and even they were subject to the almost palpable aura around the grounds. A female skunk anthro watched by the woods, then nodded lightly in greeting before returning to conversation with a red-headed wizard of stocky build and leathery dragon's wings who had also given a nod. All around milled those that had been called to be ready, with those on the second wave as well -both groups anxious to go to the rescue while at the same time hoping they would not be needed. All giving nods to the new addition, not at all surprised.
*the Princess' good fortune continues to smile upon her* The Thought of the Many reached all now involved, including even Aki though to the water-dragon's mind there was added gentle waves to soothe any fear that might be in him at having his mind touched. The comment of course referred to Maryline's luck in finding another kind and helpful soul. *We have a visual of where she is* Images of where the woman Carol swept through the minds of those the merge touched. Zell blanched, slightly recognizing the area. Poor 'Line... He had read the information on Dreia, seen the schematics & everything with Seifer, but this was seeing it as someone who was there experienced it... and he knew from visiting the castle with Maryline the day before that this was much different than his beloved remembered. The merge consoled him, even as Zell felt Seifer's grip tighten to a painful point upon his bicep. Damn odd time for him to go and get brotherly all of a sudden!
He felt the gentle touch of Illyana leave his arm just before she stepped away. If it could be seen behind the hood of his invisibility cloak the fistfighter's face would be unreadable as he nodded slightly, hazel-blue eyes locked on the panels for the location where Maryline was & was going. *At least they've not found her yet...* His mental tone as it was conveyed displayed the hurt youth's every emotion. Every emotion he was not letting surface in his unnaturally still body.
Illyana arrived a moment later stepping through her disc and into the clearing, tossing the cowl of the invisibility cloak over her head to reveal the waves of blonde hair and bright, intelligent eyes. A tall & slim red-head with long hair and large dog ears strode up to Aki at the same time. His face had a grim smile of greeting even as he handed a cloak to the waterdragon. "It's an invisibility cloak." Another smile, this one a bit sad. There was no time for introductions, and Bill Weasley knew it. The blonde female nodded. "Put it on, Tovarish, and come with me. Unless we are wrong and you do not wish to be in the front wave with Zell?" The young mutant already had a teleportation circle ready. All they had to do was step across.

>>The woman gawked at her as she placed gold coin ontop of gold coin on the little wooden desk before her. Jaw slack, the other gazed in disbelief and confusion. It almost made Maryline smile, almost. The house was quiet, all of the children ordered outside to play as the other woman thought to try and pawn one off on the princess. She had swallowed her tongue right fast as the midnight haired woman pulled out her purse, and proceeded to slowly take out every gold and silver coin within<< 27...28...29...gold pieces with 18 silver. >>A small fortune, even in her time. Now... Her soft blue eyes, now tired and sad, flicked to look out of a dirtied window to just catch a glimpse of a running boy. It had taken her quite a bit of time to find an Orphanage, but when she did, she must have stumbled upon one of the worst. She had to. The woman couldn't fanthom any where worse then this for children. Her eyes moved back to the owner. The others hands were twitching in excitement<< I shall gladly give you every coin to go towards this establishment and the children within. All I ask in return, is usage of your facilities. I am weary from travel, and I have a meeting that I cannot delay. >>The other nodded dumbly, lifting a trembling arm to point towards the dilapidated stairs. How safe. Maryline nodded in thanks before walking towards it, her hands on her black purse. Slowly she made her way up the rotting stairs, testing each step before putting her full weight on it. The building definitely needed some repairs. She heard the clatter of coins just as she reached the top of the stairs, and barely repressed a sigh. She could only hope that the woman was trustworthy<<
~~~~
>>an hour of hard scrubbing later, Maryline stepped out of the shower. It was a pitiful sight, nothing more then a tin washtub and a rusty showerhead, but it had a decent pressure to it...and they did have running water. A surprising find. She used the only towel she could find to dry her now shoulder-blade length hair, ridding it of the last few black flecks. Make up gone...the disguise abandoned...she had to hurry, before they found her. It would be twice as dangerous now. She hurriedly got dressed and exited with her bag to go back down the stairs. There was kids now, everywhere, playing, talking, sleeping...but all that were concious looked up immediately. A hush fell upon the children, some eyes becoming wide and glassy. She hesitantly stepped off of the staircase, slowly looking around her at all the young, slightly dirty faces. She headed for the exit, stepping around child after child. But as the door closed behind her, leaving her alone in the street, she caught a whispered 'so THATS an Angel'. A smile played on her lips as she headed once more towards the castle. There wasn't a moment to spare<<
>>Aki was left blinking as his eyes adjusted to the lighting change in the clearing, one hand slightly raised still as if to stop the apparation. The hand fell to his side and he shook his head. He'd never get completely used to that<< the Princess' good fortune continues to smile upon her... Whoah... >>He rocked slightly on his heels as he sucked in the air through his teeth at the images slipped across his minds eye<< Marylines...THERE? >>It reminded him of how he always pictured Hong Kong to be like. Cramped, polluted, and industrialized<< Zell... >>He hadn't even thought about how the fistfighter was taking this. Maryline was his...his...well...everything<< We'll get her back. Promise. >>His eyes refocused on the golden haired woman before him, though not quite the blonde he was looking for. He gave a small nod to both her and the male, reaching out to take the cloak. He immediatly slipped it over him, not voicing a single question. Questions took time. Time. Maryline might not even have 5 seconds to spare<< No...I'll be most useful in front. >>He flipped the hood down to match the other, following her lead<< ready when you are.
Cool tendrils of thought brushed Aki's mind trying to gently explain the situation and what was going on. Knowing that the merge would be doing so, Illyana carefully tucked each wavy strand of blonde hair back beneath her hood as she pulled it up and disappeared beneath it. **Seifer is keeping Zell held back from rushing forward, we -the collective minds- are keeping everyone back to not turn this into a declaration of war. Do you understand, Aki, that as much as we want to we cannot do more than wait until the princess' exact location is known and even then until she is in trouble or else we will be at war with her very country? You have not met her but Relm is procuring documents that hopefully will help. Hopefully we will need more your wisdom than your steel...**
All this conferred directly to his mind in a moment, probably not even a second. The thought paused and feeling a touch in her mind Illyana took the water-dragon's wrist in her hand and moved him through the teleportation disc.
Closing it behind them the mutant gave his wrist a squeeze. *This way. My discs make too much light for all they're silent to teleport where Zell & Seifer watch the monitors.* The voice was the same he would have heard before only now it came straight to Aki's mind. *I know it's hard, getting used to the telepathy. The merge is keeping us linked mentally though. Quieter than using our communicators. Just think it, & the merge will pass it on to who you want.* As she 'spoke' Illyana Rasputin led him to where the two from Garden waited. At some signal telling him they were there Zell turned and pulled Aki into a fierce guy-hug which could tell more than even transferred thoughts how the fistfighter was taking this. Too controlled. Far too controlled. Teetering on the brink. Hurting. Aching. Ready to cry, ready to fight. Not a smile to be found & his body... stiff. Not even vibrating from contained energy and bounce. Serious. Deadpan.
A slap on the back, as harsh as it could be and yet still make no sound was the only acknowledgment from the young expecting father Seifer, given as soon as Zell stepped back to watch the monitor they needed.
'So THAT'S an Angel' ... *Princess Maryline has left an orphanage. She will be at the castle soon.* A vision of where the children saw her heading. The merge not yet sharing what it had picked from their young and open minds of her long blonde hair missing at least a foot of its royal lengths. Zell clenched his fists in readiness, Seifer gripping the handle of Hyperion, Illyana making sure she stood near all three males -just waiting for where to make her teleportation disc.
They had to be ready... Ready to get there in a moment to become Maryline's protection. Hopefully without causing a war. Although after what they had seen of the country... most of the family was itching for the war -to bring Zell's princess' Dreia back to the country she had told of.
>>There it was. The castle had been through...some remodeling, since the time which her father ruled. The ponds were gone...as the gate had retreated to only 50 yards from the manor...as was the lushious forest, replaced by a tall stone wall. It looked more like a mansion now then any castle. Where was the spirals? The ramparts? The necessary 27 gaurds patrolling the outside?...What had happened to her home? She walked up to one of the two gaurds infront of the gate, the faces unfamiliar to her. That unnerved her more then the missing ponds<< Greetings, kind Sir. I request passage through to the manor within. Would thoust be so kind as to open the gates? >>He blinked at her. Was she...joking?<< Only those with summons or the proper paperwork may enter. Sir, I do trust that I am the single person who the King most wishes to see at this current hour. >>She spoke lightly, almost smiling to the young male. A clean-shaven youth. How quaint<< However, I do wish to surprise him. >>He nervously glanced to his partner on duty<< The-the King gave specific orders to... Please. I beg of you. >>Her tone turned soft, features delicate. She almost looked...fragile as both hands held the handle of her bag<< It is of the highest importance that I make it inside, today. I do not have time to tarry. >>Pretty. Pretty, pretty, pretty...<< ...Who are you? >>She took a deep breath and slowly let it out<< Princess Maryline Dorise Sang, Lady of the Morning, Daughter of the Dawn, Defender of the Sword of Truth, Princess to the Seven Seas of Oculupse and unbeknowest heir to the Dreia crown. Once more I ask. Unlock this gate. >>All through the titles her tone as strengthened, her spine straightening as her head leveled. Building until she looked like the regal woman she claimed to be by the last sentence. One got more bees with honey then vinegar, but she didn't have the time to sweeten the lad up. Fear and intimidation worked just as well for quick fixes<< >>His eyes got wider and wider, shock and confusion swirling in their brown depths as the woman...transformed, right before his eyes. But she already had him at 'Princess Maryline'. Every sentry knew that name. Every soldier knew it. They were on the lookout for her, constantly. He nodded, now speechless. It was her. It was her! He scrambled for the lock, the other gaurd now looking at them both anxiously. He rushed to throw open the gate<< >>She lightly smiled, oblivious to his previous knowladge on her<< I thank you, kind Sir. May Arigon smile kindly on your soul. >>She slipped through then, and headed towards the manor. Towards quite possibly, her final resting place. The female harshly swallowed, forcing each step to be just as strong as the last<<
The gypsy rover came over the hill, Bound through the valley so shady... He whistled and he sang till the green woods rang... And he won the heart of a lady...
>>The female softly sang, quieting her pounding heart<<
Ah dee do da dee do da day. Ah dee do da dee daaay dee. He whistled and he sang till the green woods rang... And he won the heart of a lady...
>>This sounded...oddly familiar. She allowed her fingers to touch a trimmed bush, her bright blue eyes focusing on the thick doors before her<<
She left her fathers castle gates... She left her own true lover... She left her servants and her estate... To follow the gypsy rover...
>>All for Zell...It all was for Zell<<
I know. >>He was surprisingly calm, Maryline having been a dear friend of his...but then again, he was a fighter. He knew none of them could afford to lose their head in this. He followed unresistingly towards the teleportation disc<< I don't know much about politics...but I can imagine anything dealing with a country's government must be handled with care. Fighting aside, I'll do best with handling Maryline. >>He didn't care to elaborate more, the reason already plain to see. He and Zell were the ones there who knew Maryline the best. And which one of them had the cooler head? He stepped through the disc with a nod. Merge...interesting name. In a blink of an eye they were in a dark room, almost cramped now with the admittance of so many anthro's. The monitors glew eerily and-He stiffled an 'oof' at the large body mass slamming into him, instead settling for a sigh before hugging him back. Controlled. It screamed control, too much control. The princess' dissapearance had truly wrecked havoc on him. He shouldn't be there. He mentally was not fit to be here...But Zell would only permit himself to be in one other place, he knew. And that was at the castle gates, waiting for her. His gaze drifted then to the computer monitors a moment before the bright emerald sharply widened<< Whats- >>He clamped his jaws shut immediatly, forgetting himself. The male lifted a hand to point to a far screen, the camera positioned in what he could only presume was the meeting room. Large doubledoors were opening, the gaurds at either side standing at stiff attention. A shape entered, bowed, then quickly left. Not a minute passed before another figure then appeared. Slender. The camera was too far to distinguish facial features, but one thing was obvious...Golden hair...Maryline<<
The merge near cried, keeping the thoughts of the guards at the gates from the others as it prepared for what it knew was coming as well as what could only be guessed at. Soon... very soon Zell & those with him would see where the princess was. Soon... the country's reactions would chose their own.
The merge did not foresee the leaders of this country handling the princess' arrival diplomatically. Not there on her own.
With a scowl he did not care would not be seen Seifer tossed a bag to the floor at the first sound of the water-dragon's exclamation. The vaporous mist instantly swirled and surrounded them yanking all sound from where it touched, dissipating from sight even before three pairs of eyes with varied shades of blues settled on the indicated monitor. Just in time too, for Hyperion would have clanged as he dropped it to the floor to wrap his arms vicelike around Zell from behind just before the fistfighter likely would have lunged for the monitor -or worse, to shake Illyana to transport them to her side at once. *'Line!!!!!!!!!!!!* The mental yell echoed through the minds touched by the Many of the Merge even before it could filter it. Heart-anguish, pure and strong. *Dincht! Stick to the f---ing plan. dammit!* The 2 seconds felt long before Zell was again as composed as could be expected, his eyes riveted to the image. One fist clenched while the other gripped the mutant-sorceress' hand so she could not leave without him. Seconds now. Their arrival but seconds. With an unheard grunt within the magical silence invoked by the Weasley Twins' magical concoction Seifer Almasy bent down and wrapped his gloved fist around the familiar heft of Hyperion's handle. His own narrowed blue eyes never leaving the monitor but with a more focused watchfulness, like that of a hawk. Not that anyone could see, though his body vibrated slightly with the readiness if one could read auras & energy at all. *Be ready... our eyes... the Talents' thoughts. Even one move against her -even a fraction- and we're there.
They won't get her, Dincht.* The former Sorceress' knight's 'voice' bore a sureness, like swearing an oath. On some level Zell was reassured. On some level he was moved. On some level he wanted to convey that to Seifer, with whom he had always butted heads. But he found himself unable, frozen from reaction until he could react for her.
>>The hallways...the hallways were so...different. The heart was the same, however, once stairwells were stoned up. Tapestries, priceless tapestries and works of art were replaced by petty displays of glittering gold and gild. It was embarrassing. The vaulted ceilings were kept clean, but where were all the servants? Where were the maids, the stablehands, the noblemen and ladies? Where were the visiting lords and merchants, the children and hum of life? That was the thing. The hum of life. Dreia seemed, in every aspect...dead<< Please wait here as I inform the king... >>Her eyes snapped back down to the squat man whom she followed, the top of his head shining in the light, presumably from old age. She nodded gracefully, and came to a stop, dropping her bag down on a chair outside. The princess barely refrained from clasping her hands, knowing it a sign of weakness<< >>He continued on, clearing his throat before stepping through the two large wooden doors<< Your Majesty... >>He smoothly bowed<< Princess...Princess Maryline Dorise Sang...requests an audiance.
>>King Roman sat regally up on his throne, his fingers curling around the armrests. He was a willowy man, thin in his old age with shoulder-length silver hair. A gold crown rested upon his brow, crafted to specifically fit him, and only him. The end curved just an inch above his sharp green eyes, now ablaze in the thought...that she...Princess Maryline...was...here. He looked expectantly at his son, seated directly to his right. The boy was graced with his handsome features. Sharp, proud nose. Watchful green eyes. And thick, black hair, neatly combed under his much smaller crown. Oh yes...he'd been waiting for this for a long time<<
>>As the squat man moved out and beckoned her forwards, the woman stepped through. Hair gathered in a bun at the nape of her neck, and clad in her modest blue dress, the princess barly changed a hair from the day she died. She graciously bowed her head as she came to a stop no more then ten feet from the stairs leadng up to the king and prince. That poor boy<< Your Grace... What is your business here? >>He asked smoothly, repressing a smile. This was all too delicious<< I deem myself unworthy to lead the people of Dreia. >>She took a deep breath, steeling her resolve. No turning back now<< My charge is theivary from the Royal Treasury, complying with the assisted murder of a Magickal, resisting arrest, assaulting militant figures, commiting High Treason, exposing confidentual information to outside sources and deeply fratenizing with commoners. >>The last wasn't a law or rule, but it was highly frowned upon. Especially if they knew just how deeply<< Under these grounds, I formally request to commence the cerimony to remove myself from the Royal Family. >>She finished this as strongly as she had started out, bright blue eyes hard. They gawked at her as if she had grown a second head. Was it something she said?<< But...but...Why? >>The prince frowned at the butterfly before him. This was the princess his father hated so? But she was...she looked...He was almost ashamed of his blood now<< In the most simplistic terminology...I fell in love with the commoner. I seek nothing more, then a wholesome life with him in peace. I've... >>the king leaned forwards now, catching how his son gandered at the woman<< got a better idea. >>This was too good to be true. He was brilliant. Truely, brilliant. The male smiled darkly. Oh, how he hated this woman<<
>>A sleeved arm immediatly came up to cover his nose and mouth as the mist came up, more instinctual then any avertance of a real threat. The sleeve soon dropped as he watched the screen. Mary-<< *Line!!!!!!* >>The thought rippled through him strong enough to almost be his own, crashing through his entire body. He looked at Zell, but the others eyes were glued to the screen. One hand reached up to clasp a sword hilt, peaking over his shoulder as he stood at ready. No audio. Damn it. He wanted to hear what she was saying! His grip on the sword tightened. They needed to do this diplomatically...but he wanted to land a hit on the king almost as badly as Zell himself. He just hoped Maryline knew what she was doing<<
All at once the audio missed fed quickly into the minds touched by the Merge tinged with apology. *The Princess still keeps us out. The king's mind is repulsive.* The Merge did not hide that it was still not going beyond reading the public mind. *We breach a different protocol now. You're going. Now. Stay silent. Stay still. We'll cover the rest. Illyana, you go to Relm.* Within the thoughts the impression that seconds counted and to add seconds onto seconds was something that they did not want to chance.
Then different than apparating, different even then stepping through Illyana's portals, the three males were set down in a triangle formation around Maryline. Zell & Aki on point in front of her, Seifer directly behind. The carpet did not stir beneath their feet, nor did even a fold of fabric shift on their body during he teleportation. It was that smooth. The mind-touch of the merge did not even seem tired. In fact it felt invigorated.
All this... in mere seconds.
*We don't trust the king...* The merge said sadly. Zell nodding internally fell silently to a crouch and waited there, eyes fixed on the king and trying like crazy not to turn around to Maryline and take her in his arms to whisk her away with him somehow. He understood... everything might fall down to battle readiness. Except for the Runes the Merge did not have battle readiness. Even though Trelweny could fight, she had not the training and experience of a true warrior. As the focus mind, it would be her reactions the merge acted on. That might be too late. If the king proposed what the merge suspected and Maryline refused as the merge hoped...
Zell clamped down on his heart and waited & watched in readiness.
Besides... he could guess how his princess in her dignitary mode was presenting herself.
Behind the princess Seifer also stood ready, careful to keep Hyperion beneath the invisibility cloak. He trusted the merge to keep the three's presence from any sensors be they mechanical, mental, or magical. Trelweny on her own had the capacity to do so -if she ever broke down her inhibitions completely. Combined and in gestalt with the massive generator the merged minds were near god-like status. So they wanted Relm to arrive with the papers via mutant power instead of apparating, or were they just covering bases? Simply not involving the wizards until the last minute?
Meanwhile he was counting the guards, strategically checking their placement.
((okies... that was not planned. I'm getting a bad vibe from the king though. ...is that weird considering he's just a typed character on a screen? O_o I get too involved in these. *sighs*))
>>She didn't trust him. She didn't like the grin on his face, or the gleam in his emerald eyes. Then again, perhaps she was only being bias on his previous attempts to kill her. The female gently bowed her head in acknowladgement, passing the floor, so to speak, to the King. She didn't like this. She didnt-Her spine stiffened slightly, her brown creasing the slightest amount in a frown. Something...shifted. Something...The smell of spice...spice and sweat. Her heart gave a painful lurch, a motion unseen on her smooth face. Suddenly, she missed Zell. So very much<<
We're going? >>The thought was of surprise. He quickly pulled up his hood a moment before there he was, staring face to face with one of the most dispicable men he had ever heard of. It was hard to look at the King, but harder still to not look behind him. There she was, the entire reason they were even there. And they couldn't even take her back yet. He couldn't imagine how Zell was taking this mentally<<
>>He waited until she nodded until speaking once more, taking that time to carefully rid of any contempt in his voice<< I am becoming old. Feeble if you will. My time is fastly growing short. My son, Mika, will soon be taking the royal crown. Though it has always been my wish, to see him wed. >>Oh...the look on the womans face was priceless. It was still porcelin smooth, always that, the woman entirely too skilled to let that drop...but her eyes. Oh...her eyes<< I propose...a proposal, between you and my son. >>Her heart nearly stopped beating. He must...he couldn't be...surely...<< I...do not...understand, your Lordship. >>She spoke slowly, softly. Oh, yes she did. Oh how she did. But her mind wasn't allowing her to grasp it<< It only makes sense dear lady. It would be an utter shame to lose a model of willpower and bravery such as yourself. And as you most plainly see, the country has fallen into a depression over the past few decades. It needs a woman such as yourself, with a level head and iron fist, to urge it back on its tracks. As for Mika, he is in need of a bride to come to the throne, and produce a proper heir. I cannot see a finer match for him, then a member truely of the Sang family blood... >>This...this wasn't...fair. How long...how long had the man been scheming this? Here she was, banishing every last shred of who she was...and there he came...offering everything back on a silver platter. She could help her people...Arigon knows how she's seen it fall into utter dispair! She could fix it...she could save the country that she loved but...The woman took a deep breath, just tasting the sweet scent of spices. But...the King knew she was in love with another. He knew...and he still offered. A greater mercy would have been to sentence her to the dungeon<<
*Maryline... No....* The thought was little more than a whisper but held so much heart that the merge was already sharing it with the others, the connection between the individuals automatic but more an overall focus. Closer focus of its powers were on keeping the three warriors undetected by the enemy & in keeping the group -all those wanting to race to Maryline's aid- in control. It had not thought to keep the moomba anthros oh-so-open heart from spilling over to everyone. Nor had the merge thought to shield the 3 warriors' presences from Maryline's senses.
Inside, Zell's heart was aching as it filled with his unshed tears. Through the eyes of the Dreians that the merge had shared with them he had seen the state of Dreia. He knew how his love's heart ached for her people and her country and could imagine what this ... what seeing her beloved country like this was doing to her. Much as he did not want it... he could see why she might agree to such a proposal. Could see that she might... to save the kingdom she loved. And if that's what she chose.... because he loved her he would support her. Even if it killed him inside.
Willpower alone kept the fistfighter rooted to the floor. He could almost feel the invisible eyes an ears of the gunblader as they kept watch on him. *It's her choice....* Zell's mental voice was full of pain & anguish, baring none of his 'smile through the pain' attitude as he answered the unspoken question. *I know she loves me....* The mental tone back to the pained whisper, not yet begging for comfort he knew none of those 'listening' could give though it was close. Zell was so very close to breaking. On the inside. SeeD training was strong. Though he was close to breaking, so surprisingly was his willpower to protect Maryline strong.
He could see her accepting the vile king's proposal. He could imagine her wedding that ... son of his to save her people. He knew it was a possibility...
But Hyne... he hoped she would not.
Over and over, a litany in his heart. Just Maryline. Repeating. Forever.
>>He almost stopped breathing for Zell. Ever since he first met Maryline, she had retained her love for her people. Never did she blame them for the attacks...never had she denied her title as their princess...She really could...she really would...<< She really... >>He stopped thinking on it. Zell didn't need that<<
Well, Lady Sang? >>Oh...this was all too sweet. Either way, he gained. Either way, she lost<< A common mistake, most royalty makes... >>She spoke softly, her eyes becoming almost gentle as her heart painfully throbbed<< ...is that they exist for themselves...when really...we exist for the people. They give us power, and they can take it away. For we need them, more then they could ever need us. This is the philosophy I live by. >>Her tone was gentle. Regal, though just hinting at the sadness beneath. She wished Roman would stop looking so smugly at her<< I love Dreia. Through better or worse. >>Her gaze drifted to the right, where 5 large floor to ceiling windows stood. Those were new. The room would have done better without it, the view only of the cold stone wall, and the depressing gray sky above, the occasional pipe shooting up to spit out more smog. She wondered if she jumped, if the fall would kill her. Her eyes drifted back to the king<< Do you? >>His eyes narrowed, the smile dropping at her question<< You forget yourself, dear Lady. My sincerest apologies. >>She knew herself to be growing bold, though the King was plucking at already strained nerves. He was enjoying this. Fully, and honestly enjoying this. And the prince. Her eyes flicked to the young male. Just sat there, mute, like the puppet he undoubtedly was. She was quick to squash her rising fury. Now was not the time<< No matter. You must be tired after your long journey here. We shall talk more about this over dinner. Sir Senrit'll show you to a guest room. >>She instantly bit her tongue to stop another sharp comment. He was letting her stew in the decision. Letting it haunt her longer. She didn't have time for this. Zell could be there at any moment, and then...then...what could she possibly...tell him? The female smoothly curtsied, a shallow display due to both the lack of respect and the lack of material on her skirt<< As you wish, your Majesty. >>Without another word, she started for the door, a gaurd stepping out to open it. The King didn't deserve Arigons good graces<<
Rune.... delta
"F--- this." The gunblader's firm, unyielding voice echoed though the meeting hall seconds before he snatched the invisibility cloak from his frame amid the swish of fabric. With one motion it was off and disappeared (*so shot*) into a pocket of his trenchcoat as his cold eyes somehow managed to make contact with all in the room as he appeared directly before the departing Princess, all of his imposing 6'5" frame (not counting his horns and wings & tail) blocking her path.
"Seifer...!" Zell appeared from under his own cloak, shooting a look at the gunblader but otherwise looking readily on those that would likely be their adversaries. "New plan, Dincht. Not watching a f---ing game of cat & mouse. Or having to deal with a moping prince later." *huh? Prince?*
A glowing circle appeared overhead and for all anyone could tell a single form came through. Pixie-ish at only 5' tall her wild light brown shoulderlength hair fanned out around her impish face. Glowing red fae wings fluttered keeping the girl hovering above them. A red glow was emanating from her forehead where a ruby shone, its light encompassing her and then the four beneath her in the magical ruby magic of a carbunkle. Still hovering, Relm Arrowny gave the king and his son a mock curtsy. "May I present to you the crown prince of Aveldale."
Seifer smirked, watching the fistfighter straighten and give an almost proper bow for a visiting dignitary while still retaining his obvious dislike for the king of Dreia. *Relm... I'm going to kill you.* * -inner laughter- love you too, Zell.*
"Dare to guess our hand, gentlemen?"
>>F--- this. She froze, eyes widening at the familiar voice. No. Please. No. Please arigon, no! The cloak was yanked off, her eyes focusing on the large male<< Why must you do this? >>She whispered to the SeeD<< Why could you not wait? >>The female turned then to look at the one face she yearned and dreaded for. Zell. Arigon...Zell. Her eyes burned only a single question. Why?<<
>>wait, they weren't hiding anymore? He clamed on his teeth, choosing to stay hidden. They could cause a ruckus, but he'd stay put as a surprise. If things got bad, he was the only one now that could sneak. Wonderful. He was a spy now<<
>>His eyebrows shot up at the appearance of not just one, but two men in his meeting room! One plainly armed! He quickly raised a hand to still the two gaurds from attacking<< What is the meaning of this? I had no prior engagement schedualed today with the Prince of Aveldale. >>Truthfully, he didn't even know there was an Aveldale<< >>She slowly shook her head, taking a deep breath<< An honor to meet the Royalty of Aveldale indeed. >>Her voice was stronger now. Much stronger as she completely blocked emotions before they overtook her<< Though you are intruding upon a previous audience. You would do well to remember where you stand next time, young Prince. >>She gave one last curtsy to the fistfighter, proper and clean, before turning and continuing towards the door, towards Seifer<< I shall have your answer tonight, King Roman. >>She stopped a foot infront of the gunblader<< Unless our unannounced guests have quarrel with me.
