YES! I AM A VERY PROUD FRENCH HORN PLAYER!!!! Yesh... Uh...yeah.
SO! Don't yall just hate it when you play the "marching french horn" and people call you a mellophone???? I hate it even more when the people in my very own section call us mellophones when there are, at this moment, no mellophones at my school! evil scream gonk xp

sexyful alien girl Erm(God,I'm such a n00b),what's a mellophone?any pics?Or is it just a french horn? It is, I forget the technical terms, a trumpetish thing. It is more so related to a trumpet than a french horn. But you can get more in tune with it than a marching french horn. whee 3nodding

I'm a mellie. We only have 6 in our group and then the two who graduated will be gone. With only one freshman coming, it seems that the mellophones are doomed!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Anyway, a mellophone is like the trumpet version of the marching frenchhorm. It's easier to carry *no it's not!* and you can either use a trumpet mouth piece, or take a screw apply it to your mellophone, and then use a french horn mouth piece. Our section leader does that, but I think she's the only one...

Whenever someone asks me what a mellophone is I tell them a giant trumpet because compared to trumpets it's huge. I don't like it as much as a concert horn because the case is wierd and heavy. But i love marching band and it's easy to march with. You could probably find a picture of one on yahoo or google.

I opt for the mellophone one. =3 Or a horn mouthpiece + adapter, obviously.

There's going to be 7 in my section after i drop for second term. i feel bad because my friend katie who is my bf in my section is like NOOOOOOO b/c 3rd is the best hour since i make her laugh a lot....

AMEN TO THAT! The trumpest always talk behind our backs though. In our band, the trumpest are our mortal enemy, and this year, thanks to the stupid freshman *minus my boyfriend, okay not really* the section has gotten worse!

i played french horn in 6th grade and i was the best in my class. i had the coolest teacher, and some of my other friends were in my french horn class too.
but then in 7th when i got into honor band, 2 girls who absolutly hate me (for only god knows what) joined my section. they did really mean stuff like hide my warm-up books and music, and make me late to class all the time, so then the really awesome teacher started acting like she was out to get me!!!
and to top everything off my homework was killing me, so i wasn't able to find anytime to fill out my practice sheets(much less practice) i was still pretty good at learning as i went though, so i didn't exactly suck. but then one day my teacher pulled me aside after class saying i had dented my french horn (and i KNOW that i didn't!!!) so finally i just gave up "I QUIT!" i went to my counsler to get my scedule changed and she said "you realize if you quit now, your out of band for good right?" i said yes, and that was it...
but now, as much as i miss it, i know i could never handle the level of disapline for marching band that some of my friends have. ppl in marching band are the coolest!!! smile heart heart heart

Huzzah! French horns! I play Frenchie and--uh--who agrees, it can be really hards sometimes. The notes can really bug me sometimes.
