Amagai Genji, the Investigation Team's Gentle Fist "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."
If there was one thing that characterized Amagai Genji, it was honest; that isn't to say that he wasn't many other things, that he didn't believe in many other virtues, but one that he always held close to his heart was that like his grandfather taught him he saw no virtue in lying to the people who loved him...or anyone else for that matter. His heart, his beliefs, they were on his sleeve from the moment that they had met; his and Minori's relationship had been built on that, built on the fact that they could believe in and trust one another even with the smallest of secrets and the things that they believed. When she had felt guilty about her Shade's actions, how it had nearly killed him at his Estate not so very long ago, he hadn't lied to her about the fact that he did not blame her. If he had, and he had lied, he knew that she would have seen through him...but she didn't, because he was honest. When she told him that she loved him, and he told her that he loved her, they could trust in one another and know that it was the truth because they had that bond, that trust. It was so important...it was vital to who hew as, who they were together...and so when he told her that they were going to see this thing through to the end, that he wouldn't abandon her, he hoped that in that, too, she would see to the truth of the matter.
They were in this together, they were going to see this through together, and at the end of the world, they were going to be standing there as the world was Restored...now and then, together. He may tease her with little words he would eventually share, with kisses now and then that he hoped would leave her wanting for more, but in that of all things, he would never fib. She was strong, capable...she could do things that even he could not. His believe in her, his trust in her, were absolute, and it was what allowed them to be such a formidable pair. Until the end.
Those were the thoughts that were on his mind as he stepped down from the ladder to the top of the Warehouse, back onto the streets below. The challenges between Factions had slowed but were not entirely finished in Inaba, and though they could hear fighting in the distance, there was nothing in the streets of the Downtown Drag in front of them now that caught his eye. Aiya's appeared to have a couple of demons lingering around, but they didn't look hostile, more like they were taking sanctuary inside. In the other direction near the rubble of the Textile Shop and the path out of town towards the Amagi Inn, it was unusually quiet. If they were going to find themselves at the heart of the action, they were indeed going to have to head towards Junes. It wouldn't be a long walk, but it would be one full of danger, he imagined. Nodding towards this beautiful blond companion, he let the look in his eyes say it all. ...He would fight beside her. He would stay with her. He would not allow himself to be killed or his wounds to get the better of him.
"We shall reach Junes soon. Whatever is there..." he smiled in her direction honestly, feeling some of his fatigue from the match with Chiaki fading, "We will not be defeated."
