The world was full of bad. He knew that to some degree. But on the other hand, it was quite often filled with good. People were prone to wanting to see the smiles of others. Of those close to them, around them, or just passing by them. Because of this, even if there were reasons to feel down at times, he found that the kindness he was able to seek out in each person was uplifting enough to keep even the worst of situations bright.

And in that tufffluff found great solace.

It might have been silly. Actually, he knew it was. Regardless of what was said he wanted to find great joy in the little things. Being allowed to study at a school. Being able to take part in classes. Meeting people and making friends with them. All those small things that most saw as no big deal he found to be little treasures. Tiny little things he could dwell on and think about in the evenings.

And that was enough to keep him going. To drive him to do well.

2. Loss - Bibi

Bibi was freaking out. She had lost her favorite book! She read that thing all the time. She didn't know what she would do if it was gone forever. She thought she had looked everywhere for it, but she had yet to find it so obviously she was forgetting someplace.

She grumbled and whined a bit before looking in her bag again. Maybe it magically appeared in there while she was frantically looking for it. Nope. No such luck. She said, disheartened. She was really going to miss that book...

15. despair - Caid

There was no other word for what he was feeling. Like he was sinking deeper and deeper into a dark, dank pit of this horrible feeling. Like quicksand, the more he tried to get rid of it the worse and worse he felt. He didn't even have a reason for it, or at least not that he could think of...

17. Empty - Bibi

Bibi couldn't remember ever having felt this way before. This was so much worse than just a bad day. This was awful. It felt like there was nothing inside her except for maybe air. She needed to be around people, but all her friends had been busy. She had thought that maybe a crowd would help, lots of people, potential for friends. But...even then she felt like she was alone. This emptiness was the worst thing she had ever felt, and she hoped she never felt like this again.

[ 6 => 4 - Death ]

Death is the two golden scythes stitched onto his tattered, dirty coat. The edges are filled with frayed threads and there are certain stains—if you ask where they came from his eyes glaze over as his mind undoubtedly flashes back to the past—that cannot be washed out no matter how many times he tries. Death means falling into the shadows and running as fast as you can and clawing your way to knowledge and falling to his knees and—

Death means the end.

In between all the chaos and the fighting, the days that the girl spent were relatively normal. Safe. Her days ran on a day schedule—wake up, go through her morning routine, eat, get ready for classes—and ultimately ended with her going to bed. While most would likely find such a life boring, the ghoul honestly found it to be quite…welcoming. She appreciated these moments of peace, knowing that they would only last so long before chaos broke out once more.

Having lived a rather privileged life, Xiu faced very little strife as a scareling. Her family was small, and the people with whom she socialized with also consisted of a small group who she was not particularly attached to.

And so going to Amityville had been a big step for her. IT was not only the fact that she was now within a large group of people and forming her own friend groups, but there was also the fact that she experienced one thing that she never had before: the loss of people who she knew, people who she cared about.

She had to admit, seeing something like that definitely changed one’s mindview.
