There was little to be done in this situation. Even if Froslass was still as evassive as before, there was no avoiding things from point blank range, especially not a cloud of toxic spores. Unfortunately Korra didn't get the flinch from the Astonish that Crenu was hoping for, the only reason to use such a pitifully weak attack was for that shot, fortune wasn't smiling on him it seemed, but it never did. Korra got a face full of the poison and inhaled it deeply, becoming badly poisoned on the spot and wincing from the pain it brough her burning her from the inside out. But Crenu didn't waste a moment. "Icy Wind." Even though the poison stung Korra did her best, letting loose another blast of freezing air this time from extreamly close range, her face still practically in the Vileplume's flower as the purple mist of her Toxic still danced around and started to disperse. +++++++++++++++
"Rock Tomb huh? Um..um.." Jason did't know what to do. Neither did Atlas, this was a tricky situation indeed. And he had just locked the Onix in with his Block, no way could they just let him bust out like that! But with the Rock Tomb smashing it apart what could be done to stop it? The make shift cage was beaten apart, it wasn't going to hold much longer, and Atlas roared out for an order. Jason clutched onto the hem of his hat and jumped aroudn trying to think. "Um...Bind! Don't let him get away while he's still trapped!" Atlas lashed out with his tail as the attack broke the entrapment, there was no way he was goign to let this other Onix get away now!

Faustus looked around nervously as his teammate had vanished underground. Riza chuckled quietly and nodded to the young dragon. "Faustus, in the meantime, use Agility to speed yourself up," she called, and the Dratini nodded, allowing his body to loosen and relax and suddenly he felt much faster than before. It was just as well as he did, however for a moment later the ground began to rumble beneath him, and Faustus shot off like a rocket, leaving a rather surprised Eris to burst from the ground and find herself all alone. The Quilava gave an indignant little bark, her flames flaring up brightly. "Relax, Eris, you can't expect your target to just stand there while you attack," the raven haired girl called back, prompting a snort from the little fire-type. "Fine, whatever, do it the hard way, then. See if I care."
The Quilava snorted again and glared over at Faustus. The Dratini studied his opponent carefully, and Riza couldn't help but wonder what sort of training he went through while he was being raised by Clair. Very suddenly, Faustus leaned forward, shooting out a frosty ray of ice toward the Quilava. Eris responded by running toward the oncoming Ice Beam, her flames intensifying as she curled into a ball and launched herself into a flying Flame Wheel. Wisps of smoke and flakes of ice flew off in all directions, though Riza wasn't quite sure what both Pokemon were thinking at the time. Eris landed softly on all fours, her upper lip twisted into a snarl as she growled at the dragon.
'That one sure is hot headed,' Riza thought, rolling her eyes as Eris then darted forward for a quick attack. Faustus stared back at her, wide eyed as she came in for the strike, but then just like that, the dragon's tail came swinging around, almost like a baseball bat. It looked like it would be a solid hit if it weren't for Eris' quick thinking, and at the last second she jumped up and over the intended Slam attack and landed hard on the other side of the Dratini. The Quilava quickly scrambled to her feet, panting slightly as she glared at Faustus. If that stupid dragon thought he was getting the better of her, he had another thing coming! * * * * * The orange haired girl stared at the dozens and dozens of eggs with wide, ruby red eyes. They were all sorts of different colours and sizes and they all had different patterns on them. Katie couldn't even begin to guess what baby Pokemon were inside of them, waiting to meet their future trainers. She thought of little Kord and how he must have bee waiting in a place just like this before he'd been delivered to her. Her emotions were all conflicted and she really didn't know what to do. She did know, at the very least, that she would get the center's breeding data come hell or high water, and she couldn't help but wonder just how angry Mai would be if she didn't have an egg when they met up in Veilstone City.
"So what do you think?" the daycare lady asked as they made it back to the main office. "You can leave your Roselia here if you'd like. Or any of your other Pokemon."
"It's really nice here," Katie answered honestly, looking down at the Thorn Pokemon. "I haven't really decided yet, however."
"Take all the time you need to think it over, honey. It's not the easiest thing in the world, leaving a Pokemon behind. Here, I'll give you this to look over." The daycare lady handed Katie a clipboard and a pen, and the orange haired girl realized it was an information sheet for trainers leaving a Pokemon here. She simply nodded and sat down in one of the chairs, looking over the sheet carefully. It was pretty basic stuff, identification and trainer licensing and all that, as well as a section just for the Pokemon a trainer planned to leave here. Katie smiled at how in depth it was, as it covered everything from special dietary needs to other care requirements right down to preferred games and nap times and such.

Once again, Zorua's eyes began to glow brightly and using only her mental prowess, snatched the surprised Pidgey in mid-flight and once again introduced it to the gym's floor. The little fox was panting slightly but she seemed okay, grinning impishly at her fallen opponent until it was recalled. Rod glared across the stage at Jasper, causing the bandanna-clad trainer's smug grin to widen. "What's the matter, Bird-boy? Don't like having your feathers ruffled?"
"I'm not done yet," the Bird Keeper retorted quickly, snatching up a second Pokeball. "You got past my first Pokemon, but can you handle this next one?" With a flick of his wrist, his second flying type appeared, hooting loudly as it bounced from foot to foot.
"Hoothoot," Jasper murmured. He'd seen more than a few of them in his time, though he wasn't entirely sure what they were capable of battle-wise. "Give 'em a Leer," he said, nodding to Zorua. The little fox planted her feet and sent a rather dirty look over to the bouncing Hoothoot. The Owl Pokemon shuddered a bit, but its eyes narrowed as it glared back at Zorua, though with no added effects behind it.
"So, it's a staring contest you want, then?" Bird Keeper Rod called, deciding it was his turn to be smug. "That's quite all right with us! Hoothoot, knock it out with your Hypnosis." Hoothoot gave a shrill hoot, its eyes, now glowing red, still leveled on Zorua. The little fox gave a startled cry and started to back up, but she soon found herself, well, hypnotized by the owl's powerful gaze.
"Uh oh," Jasper murmured, as a second or so later, Zorua began to wobble and she fell forward, her eyes drifting shut as she was lulled into a peaceful sleep. * * * * * * * * * * The forest's tranquil quiet had long since driven off by the cacophonous sounds of Team Hayley vs a ridiculous number of Beedrill in comparison, and at this point it was difficult to discern which side currently held the upper hand. One might wager that the odds leaned in the brunette's favor, as the bursts of flame from her overly-protective Charmander were doing quite a good job of keeping the winged, stinging menaces at bay. The little Pikachu was also surprisingly good at fending off the angry Beedrill as they were more than a little wary of her wild Thundershocks. A few of them had already been paralyzed by the mouse and were fleeing as best as their sluggish bodies would allow.
One member of Team Hayley that wasn't faring so well, however, was Mya. The little Rattata was quick and agile, but she was by no means a tank in any sense of the word and it wasn't long before a barrage of Poison Sting had left her poisoned, and while it had been beneficial in activating her Guts ability, her small frame was vulnerable and it wasn't long until she'd collapsed on the ground, having succumbed to the poison. This has the unfortunate side-effect of happening right next to Cynder, and the Charmander let out a heated roar before blasting away the offending Beedrill with a large burst of bluish flames. Hayley was able to recall Mya before she could be hurt any further, clutching the mouse's Pokeball to her chest as though the act alone would protect her. The Charmander was downright furious and he loosed Ember after Ember, completely indiscriminate in his assault. If you were black and yellow and sporting a triad of venomous stingers, you were fair game as far as Cynder was concerned.
Hayley watched her oldest comrade with both amazement and worry, as she'd never seen the Charmander completely lose it like that before. From nearby, Ivy let out a cry and the brunette turned to see the newly-poisoned Snivy coiled into a ball at her feet, shivering. Tisyphone was nowhere to be seen and that was unnerving as well, and suddenly Hayley was feeling pretty stupid for having not stocked up on Repels while she was still in the relative safety of Viridian City.

"Lunatone! No!" Liza cried as her Pokemon finally spun to a stop on the floor, completely out of it. "No, no, no, no, no!" she wailed, stomping her foot a few times before recalling the battered Rock/Psychic-type. That left only Tate's Solrock on the field to face the two terrifyingly-strong Dark-types, but she didn't have to be a psychic to know that they were done for. The elder twin muttered a quiet curse word under her breath as she folded her arms over her chest, visibly annoyed. It probably wouldn't last, however, as though nobody liked losing, she didn't mind handing over the Mossdeep Gym's badge to trainers that had earned it, and these two oddballs had most certainly done that.
"Casimir, I think we're done here," Kasiya said lightly, snapping her fingers as she pointed at the Solrock. The silvery Absol was already racing across the damp, rock-strewn battlefield toward the only remaining target (that he was allowed to attack, anyway) in sight, his curved horn glowing a sinister, dark hue as he swung it at the Solrock for what he and his trainer hoped would be one final Night Slash. The blonde had chanced a glance at Mike's Crawdaunt, wincing slightly at the sight of the battered lobster and that only made her want the battle to end that much sooner. She may not have been Xanthos' biggest fan but that didn't mean she was fond of seeing him get all beat up like that.
=-=-=-=-= Flannery was feeling oddly elated as she hopped down from her little perch and had started making her way over toward her childhood friend. She didn't get more than about five steps toward him as the conversation between Keegan and Mr. Summers quickly turned south, though the redheaded gym leader knew she shouldn't be surprised. She had absolutely no doubt in her mind that Keegan had been wanting to say those things to his parents for quite some time and she could only imagine what it felt like to get all that off his chest. She also had never seen the gym clear out that fast before, however, though she really couldn't blame anyone. She very much wanted to leave as well, but it was her gym after all and she'd feel weird leaving, so she kind of just stood there awkwardly, wringing her hands together and hoping that none of the Summers were paying attention to her.
The exchanged seemed to take forever even though it was no more than a few minutes, but hearing Todd Summers finally admit that he was proud of his son brought tears to Flannery's eyes. She'd then looked expectantly to Keegan, wondering how he'd react and if the Summers family would finally get that special Kodak moment and hug it out and all that stuff. That, however, would not be the case as Keegan was still (understandably) quite upset, and true to his character he answered with brutal honesty before storming out of the gym, but not before snatching up a pizza along the way. Flannery couldn't help but feel bad for Mr. Summers, and she made a move forward but stopped as a thought came to mind. She turned and darted back into her office, grabbing a few things before she ran out again, uttering quick apologies to Keegan's parents before she followed the other redhead outside.
It wasn't overly hard to figure out which way he'd gone as there wasn't a whole lot of options available, but after asking a few people outside she was set on the right path and before long she'd tracked Keegan down. As soon as she was close enough the aroma of the pizza greeted her senses and her stomach rumbled loudly in protest as to why she was not currently eating said pizza. Flannery cleared her throat and came closer, walking around until she was directly in his line of sight. "Hey there, Grumpy Bear," she said cutely, nodding at the pizza box. "Mind if I join you?"
=-=-=-=-= The professor watched the battle between the redheaded trainer and the two Rockets with some amusement, and it was easy to see that they were nothing more than bottom-rung grunts looking to make an easy score. Why anyone would think it was that easy to break into his compound and steal the stored Pokeballs was a mystery to Oak, but he said nothing, deftly rolling Seto's Pokeball along his fingers as he watched the Charmander deliver a rather strong blow to the Rattata while the Pawniard loosed an entirely different move altogether. Psycho Cut, Oak mused to himself, scratching his chin with his free hand. Now this shouldn't take long at all. Kressen may be young, but he's skilled, and his Pokemon are no slouches, either. Yes, yes, good. Show these morons a thing or two about respect.
=-=-=-=-= Admittedly, Erika was a little surprised that her Vileplume's Toxic had actually hit the speedy young Froslass, but Crenu had been quick to call for another Icy Wind. Vileplume shuddered from the cold, not at all enjoying the frigid conditions, but she stood strong, not wanting to give in just yet. "Vileplume, use Moonlight," Erika called quietly, bowing her head. Vileplume cooed in reply, closing her eyes as she pictured the bright, beautiful mood in her mind. Her body began to shimmer as some of her energy was restored, but it wasn't nearly as much as she and Erika would like as the Hail continued to interfere. It would end soon, however, but Erika still didn't look worried in the slightest.

Indeed they were done. No sooner had Kasiya ordered the attack then Casmir had followed up with deadly efficiency and Solrock was down for the count. With that, Mike and Kasiya were victorious. "Whoo!" the boy cheered, pulling his hand from hers. After all, he needed both to hoist her up and spin her around in celebration. It was messy (mostly due to him), overly destructive (also his fault), but it was one hell of a battle, and there was no one he would have rather had it with. "Wonderful work, love. As always." he smiled, gently lowering her to the ground and pulling her into a (literally) warm embrace. His seventh badge! They did it! He did it! He really did it! "Just like riding a bike." he said under his breath.
Xanthos elected to ignore the happy couple, and occupied his time by picking rocks out from the new cracks in his shell. He only managed to get a few out before Mike quick drew his Ultra ball and recalled him.
Despite the brutal loss, Tate found it difficult to remain cross. Sure, the challengers were strange, but look at how happy they were? He may have been too young to realize exactly what type of a connection they had, but whatever it was, it sure beat the pants off of him and his sister's. "I'm...we're impressed." the younger twin spoke up finally after recalling his Pokemon. "Even with advantages like that, it isn't often we get a fight like that."
"Ah, it's all this one." Mike said, nodding to Kasiya. "I just make the pretty light show to distract people." He was mostly joking, but Mike knew if the two of them battled full-tilt that it would more than likely be her that would come out on top. Call it intuition.
"Don't sell yourself short. You're both impressive. Unorthodox and confusing, but impressive." The gym leaders made their way across the ravaged arena and to their challengers to exchange pleasantries and the prizes. Liza usually held on to those.

Keegan couldn't remember how long it had been since he'd had a moment of true piece, and he sighed and leaned back against the rock he was sitting on as he started in on his fourth slice of pizza. About the only thing that could have made this better was having a cold drink to go along with his dinner, but beggars couldn't be choosers. He could hear footsteps coming up behind him and he stiffened up slightly, trying to figure out who it was that cared enough to follow him all the way out here. A moment or so later, Flannery was standing in front of him, and he groaned slightly, being sure she saw him rolling his eyes when she called him a Grumpy Bear. The first thing that came to his mind was "Get lost, Flannery," but he didn't say it out loud, mostly because he knew that she was still hurting and was probably just as in need of a friend right now as he was, even if she'd admit it while he never would.
"I'm not grumpy," he said quietly, but patted the empty part of the rock next to him anyway. "Yeah you'd better eat some of this. Wouldn't want to completely spoil my gorgeous figure, now." He stuffed a large amount of pizza into his mouth as though to prove his point, and he leaned back again. The sun had started to set, blanketing Lavaridge in beautiful reds and oranges and Keegan sighed. In some ways, he felt as though he'd made progress in leaps and bounds today, but in others, it still felt like he was standing perfectly still. Stuck in a rut. He tilted his head slightly, looking up at Flannery. "So, other than getting your paws on some of my pizza, what brings you all the way out here? I highly doubt that you're here for my companionship." After all, he was often such a joy to be around. ===== Damien said nothing as his partner was assaulted by the Vulpix's Faint attack a second time, and though the fox wasn't exactly bursting with physical prowess, neither was Gastly and that was all she wrote for the Ghost-type. Gastly's singing grew fainter and fainter until he'd passed out completely, and Damien's stoic expression didn't so much as twitch as he recalled his fallen partner. He shifted the egg to his other arm as he contemplated which of his two other Pokemon to send out in Gastly's place. Neither of them seemed like brilliant choices, but one was definitely worse than the other.
The dark-haired boy remained silent as he sent out his next Pokemon; his Drowzee. The Psychic-type was still fairly new to his roster, but she'd already proven herself to be quite capable. Her long nose twitched as she looked around, gaze finally settling on little Amber and she grinned a bit. "Hypnosis," Damien said bluntly, and the aptly-named Hypnosis Pokemon began to wave her arms, bending reality around her as she attempted to put the Vulpix to sleep.

Riza couldn't help but chuckle at Eris' anger as it seemed pretty irrational to the dark haired girl considering they were only training. Selena watched the two intently, glancing up at her trainer now and then out of curiosity. As far as she knew, she'd never be able to shoot fire or ice, and though there was something somehow familiar about the Dratini's serpentine form, she wasn't sure what she was supposed to be learning. The fire made her very uncomfortable and so did the ice, but the Quilava's speed was pretty impressive and the Snivy was sure that was one thing she could handle. She was still very young but she was quick, all right! Looking around, the Snivy hopped down from her rock and gave herself some distance between the battle of her teammates and her trainer. She found a few choice sized rocks and gave herself some distance before she took a deep breath. She felt stronger since her battle with that fiery monkey Pokemon and she gave a cry as a slender, green vine appeared from the little collar around her neck and snaked out toward the rock on the far right. Her aim was off and she missed by a good foot, but the Snivy allowed herself to smile. She could use Vine Whip now!
Eris, meanwhile was becoming pretty fed up with Faustus and she planted her four feet firmly into the dirt before unleashing her Extrasensory on the dragon. Faustus gave a pained cry and thrashed about from the psychic assault, the sight of which made the Quilava grin hugely, and even more so as Faustus fell to the ground. Riza stepped forward, looking a bit worried for her rather timid dragon and she cast a quick, sharp glance at Eris to hold her back. "Faustus, are you okay?" she called. The Dratini didn't answer her as he rose up, his body coiled slightly. He had a totally different look in his eyes and for a moment Riza was almost afraid, especially when he pointed his nose at the sky and gave a loud cry. A brilliant white light began to shine from deep within him and before long it had encompassed his whole body. The brightness of the light hid the fact that his body, while not tiny to begin with was steadily growing longer and larger.
Logically Riza knew exactly what was happening yet she still stood there, looking amazed as the light died down, revealing a strong and absolutely stunning Dragonair. She couldn't believe that Faustus had evolved and she fumbled for her pokedex. Eris, meanwhile, stared at her teammate with nothing less than complete shock until a burning fury overcame her and she darted at the newly evolved Dragonair, intent on ending this battle right now. Faustus narrowed his eyes at the charging Quilava and sped forward as well, initiating his Extremespeed. It was safe to say that the Dragonair was a bit faster and his attack struck first, leaving a dazed and nearly-unconscious Eris lying on the ground in his wake. * * * * * Very soon Katie had read over the information on the application enough times to commit it to her memory, though she didn't write out a single thing, instead tapping the end of her pen thoughtfully against the clipboard. Now and then she gazed up at the kind daycare lady, who seemed busy organizing paperwork and checking things over. The orange haired girl eyed the computer once again, the weight of the rocket device in her pocket feeling like it weighed a ton. After what felt like forever the woman got up out of her chair, smiling obliviously at the nervous girl as she left the room. The moment the door banged shut behind her, Katie was on her feet, reaching around and carefully inserting the device into the USB drive of the computer. There were a few quiet beeps as the device quickly broke through any firewalls and whatnot, and the light on the end began to flash, signaling that the data had started to download.
It couldn't download fast enough, however as Katie waited impatiently, eyes glued to the door as though it would swing open at any minute. The thought of getting caught was both terrifying and exciting and Katie frowned a bit when the device beeped again to signal it was done. She removed it from the drive and slipped it back into her pocket, moving back to the front of the desk just as the daycare lady had come back. "Make a decision?" she asked.
Katie nodded, pretending to look conflicted. "I don't think I'm going to leave a Pokemon here just yet," she said, sliding the clipboard across the desk. "I'd just miss Seraphim too much." That part wasn't exactly a lie as she did miss her Buneary terribly already, but the older woman just smiled and nodded kindly.
"I understand. Feel free to come back if you change your mind, or even if you just want to visit." Katie murmured in agreement and left the daycare center, finding she couldn't get away from it fast enough. Once she was near the pokecenter again she took the device from her pocket and studied it. She wasn't sure just how it had worked, but at the same time she had a bunch of monster like creatures trapped in little balls that were stored on her belt. The world was such a funny and interesting place.

The Absol trotted dutifully back over to Kasiya and sat down at her side, and the blonde quickly decided against petting him as she knew he wasn't an overly affectionate Pokemon to begin with. "You were incredible, Casimir," she told him, thinking he probably wouldn't mind hearing it, and in a surprising turn of events, the Absol actually looked up at her with what could be considered a tiny little grin. Kasiya laughed and recalled him into his Ultra Ball, only just being able to clip it to her belt before she was being lifted up and spun around in the air by Mike. She laughed louder and clung tightly to him, fairly certain that this was what bliss felt like, even if she was a little less excited about winning the actual badge than Mike was. It may have been her eighth badge overall, but it was only her second one from the Hoenn Region and she couldn't help but smirk to herself a the thought of winning the Volcano Badge from Blaine - wouldn't that be quite a surprised for him! "We make a great team," she said, closing her eyes and just basking in the moment. Tate's voice snapped her out of it and she blushed a little at Mike's words. "No way, it was totally a team effort," she said, patting Mike's arm fondly.
Liza's annoyance with losing had ebbed quite quickly, and she was even smiling as she retrieved the two trainers' prizes before rejoining her brother. "Unorthodox, confusing, impressive, destructive, and scary-strong," she added after her brother had spoken, and she eyed the couple almost jealously. Like her brother, she wasn't entirely sure what it was that was going on between those two, but they were definitely quite close and the older twin couldn't help but hope that someday she'd find someone she could bond with. "You guys definitely earned these," she said, looking around breathlessly at the heavily-damaged arena as she held out a pair of matching Mind Badges for the victorious trainers, as well as a handsome sum of prize money and the twins' signature TM for Calm Mind, even if the move had only been used once in the entire battle. "I'd say come back and visit us again sometime, but I'm not so sure that's a good idea," she said, laughing good-naturedly.
=-=-=-=-= Flannery was a little relieved when the other redhead didn't tell her off and she somewhat reluctantly sat down beside him before helping herself to a slice of pizza. She gave him a once-over in disbelief as he mentioned keeping his figure in tact before she realized he was kidding, and she forced a laugh. "Yeah, you might wanna start running or something. You're starting to get a gut," she said matter-of-fact-like before enjoying a bite of her pizza as well, ignoring Keegan's incredible lack of manners. It was delicious if not a little cold, and for a moment they ate in silence.
It all still seemed so surreal to be sitting there like this, and the gym leader sighed as she looked up at the gorgeous red and gold sky. She was definitely biased but in her opinion, no town had more beautiful sunsets than Lavaridge did, and she looked over at Keegan as he'd finally broken the silence. "You're not really that dumb, are you?" she replied, taking on an annoyed tone as she snatched up another slice. "All joking aside, I'm here because I was worried about you, obviously. It was pretty tense in the gym, after all, and I wanted to make sure you were okay, or not out doing something stupid." She paused, looking down at her feet. Keegan's family life had always been a sore subject and she was sure he didn't feel like discussing it. "I also never got to tell you just how awesome you were back there," she added after a moment or so of thought. "And I don't just mean the battle with your dad. I mean back... there." She nodded in the general direction of Mt Chimney, the giant hole in the roof still plainly visible. "And in general. I don't know if you know it, Keegan, but you really have come a long way since you and Helios first left home."
=-=-=-=-= Karrigan allowed herself to relax a bit as Amber's Faint Attack did the trick and took the Gastly out of the battle, and the fox looked downright pleased with herself as she trotted back over to Karrigan, looking over her shoulder to see what Pokemon she'd have to beat next. Karrigan's little smile turned to a slight frown at the sight of the next Pokemon, for she didn't know what it was. That's what her PokeDex was for, however, and she quickly scanned the newcomer - it was a Drowzee, a Psychic-type. "Faint Attack," she called almost immediately, knowing that Psychic-types were weak to Dark-type attacks, but even as Amber started forward, the Drowzee had begun to use Hypnosis and this time the speedy little fox couldn't outrun it. Amber's movements slowed and slowed until she stood, wobbling on all four legs. She managed one last aggravated glare before she fell to the ground, fast asleep.

The battle was obviously not in the Rockets favor and the thick skulled thieves were finally realizing that. Bob and Steve didn't like it when things didn't go their way. Instead of pulling out more Pokemon to do battle with the red head and his team they instead chose to draw out some knives they kept on them for shaking down people for their wallets and purses. One didn't need a pokemon to commit a crime. "Enough of this!" Said Steve with growing frustration. "Give up or we're going to get physical and you don't want that!"
Kressen turned to the professor and handed him the Metapod that fell off his lab. "Hold this the lil dude for me okay. I'm going to need my hands free." He was smiling as if there was no problem with getting physical with armed criminals. As this was happening the two rockets pokemon without the guidance of their respective trainers had no idea what to do.
Gigas did though. He growled at Odin to follow his lead and fired off another Ember at his opponent. Nodding Odin attacked with another Psycho Cut and blasted both the confused and misguided pokemon of their feet and sent them rolling end over end. Hopefully their next trainers would be decent hard working people.
With his hands free Kressen began striding over to the two Rockets. On his way over he dropped his pack and started taking off his jacket and tossed his cap aside gearing up for a fight. "I really do hate people who think they can do whatever they want and hang the consequences. Then I hate them even more once they get made at someone for stopping them for doing something wrong. It's that lack in logic that just really gets my goat, but there is one thing I do love doing. That's knocking some dumbass's teeth down their throat."

'Not good,' Jasper frowned as he stared at the snoozing Zorua, wondering just how a Pokemon could drop off into sleep in mid-battle. "Zorua! Wake up!" he called, already sure it would be a waste of breath, and this proved to be the case as the little fox's ear only twitched in reply. Jasper wasn't sure if he should recall her or not as she was pretty much helpless right now, though he'd quickly learn that he should be a bit more on the ball as the little brown ball of feathers that was the Hoothoot came streaking toward the sleeping dark type and smashed into her for a surprise Tackle. Quickly, the bandanna clad boy held up Zorua's Pokeball and recalled her before she could be hurt any more, and he sighed. 'Sorry, girl, that one's totally on me.'
"Giving up?" Bird Keeper Rod called smugly from the opposite side of the platform.
"Not on your life," Jasper retorted, replacing Zorua's Pokeball and switching it with another. The green-clad trainer was smirking something silly as he sent out Paras, looking over at his opponent expectantly, considering how he'd reacted when he'd initially thought that Zorua was Paras. Paras, on the other hand, stared straight ahead with wide eyes, and Jasper figured it was good that he was so close to the ground to begin with otherwise he'd probably have a seizure and fall off the platform if he knew just how high up they were.
"Seriously?" Rod chirped, hands on hips as he stared at the Mushroom Pokemon. "You seriously think I'm going to fall for that again?"
"Oh, no, you've seen right through my clever ploy," was Jasper's sarcastic reply, and he rolled his eyes as Rod sent the little Owl on the offensive, calling for a Peck attack. "Yeah, there'll be none of that," Jasper murmured. "Stun Spore, Paras!" Paras blinked and looked up, giving a cry as he saw the owl rushing toward him, intent on pecking him to death. The Mushroom Pokemon ducked down as low as he could go, his entire body practically quaking which aided him in sending out a cloud of bright yellow spores. It was hard not to laugh as the Hoothoot tried to jam on the breaks to avoid the cloud, but it was no use. Rather than landing a Peck attack on Paras, the resulting collision turned out to be more of a rolling tackle, and Jasper quietly wondered if he'd ever have a normal battle someday. Considering his oddball team of Pokemon, however, it wasn't very likely. * * * * * * * * * * The Pikachu had not missed the Snivy being hit by several Beedrill stings and she grit her teeth, noting that now only the severely weakened grass type stood between the human and what was left of the swarm. The Nidoran had long since vanished and the Rattata had been knocked out, and the Charmander was currently too busy getting his rage on to see the imminent danger his trainer was it. The mouse puffed out her cheeks and darted in front of Ivy, her tail twitching as she stared down the pair of insects that were currently drawing nearer. A flash of lightning and the one on the left was down, but that left an opening for its partner to speed forward, ramming a painful Twineedle into her little gut. The mouse wailed out in pain and loosed a second Thundershock, forcing the Beedrill to back off some. Hayley, having not missed the mouse's display of bravery crawled forward, scooping both it and Ivy into her arms before backpedaling.
The insect shook off the static that still clung to its wings and sped forward, only to be intercepted by a flying Double Kick to the head as Tisyphone decided to take a turn at being the hero. "Tiss!" Hayley cried, still clutching the two weakened Pokemon against her. "Double Kick won't work so well, um, use your Scratch instead!" The Nidoran gave a nod and did just that, jumping forward and more-or-less ignoring the fact that she was being pelted by a barrage of Poison Sting in the process. She cried out as she raked the Beedrill over and over again with her claws, finally driving the overgrown bumblebee away. Tisyphone was looking rather pleased with herself, and even a little braver than normal as she looked over to Cynder to see if the Charmander needed help.
Cynder, in fact, was not in need of any help at all as he was doing just fine on his own, lighting every Beedrill that dared come near him on fire. By now the swarm's ranks had thinned out and the smartest of those had even turned tail and fled, and the Charmander unleashed one last Dragon Rage to send the last few scurrying. Adrenaline still surging, the fire type loosed a blast of flame into the air above him. "Cynder?" Hayley called, still clutching the two poisoned Pokemon in her arms. "They're gone now, you can stop-" but before Hayley could finish her sentence, Cynder had started to evolve. His orange skin began to shine a brilliant white and his shape shifted as he grew. When the light dimmed, a much, larger lizard stood in Cynder's place, looking a lot fiercer and more intimidating than before. "Whoa, Charmeleon!" Hayley cried excitedly.

Mike's smiled widened as he accepted his badge and prizes, and eagerly added the Mind Badge to his collection as he mulled over which one of his Pokemon might benefit from the new TM. "Yeah..." he said with a chuckle at Liza's comment. Looking around at his handiwork. Between all of his Pokemon he had really done a number on the place. "I tend to go a bit..." he scraped his brain for a nicer word than 'crazy' "...overboard when I battle."
"I'll say." Tate replied bluntly, receiving an elbow from his sister. "What?" he asked ignorantly, holding his side. "Anyway, congratulations. Unlike my sister, I would gladly accept a rematch from either of you. Maybe I will even use some of my stronger Pokemon."
"Maybe we will too." Mike retorted teasingly, smirking at the boy. He had a feeling if he sent out Titanium during the gym battle he wouldn't have had to switch out at all. His smirk when fully devious when he thought about what would happen if Kasiya sent out Ada to support him. He looked over to her in pure excitement, though he was the only one that knew the reason why. "Thanks again for the battle. It was a ton of fun but now we really should be off." Taking Kaisya's hand once again, Mike turned around and began towards the door.
"Doesn't look like we have any more challengers right now, sis." Tate said, exhaling a sharp breath. That battle was tiring! "Let's heal up our Pokemon and do our rounds at Mt. Pyre." That casual comment stopped Mike dead in his tracks, the color draining from his face.
"Pyre?" Mike asked, turning back around. "If you don't mind my asking, what do you two do there?"
"Oh, we're its guardians." Tate replied looking at his sister and adopting a somewhat proud expression. "Not that there is much to guard, though. Not since the orbs were stolen four years ago." his grin faded. "But that was before we were around. I'm sure now we'd catch any thief that tried anything!" Mike's lip twitched into a smile.
"I'm sure you would." he said softly, looking down at his bag which housed one of those very orbs.
"You know, it's funny." Tate spoke up, causing Mike to jump. "Looking at you just reminded me of it for some reason. Something about you..." the boy narrowed his eyes, more out of curiosity than suspicion. "Have you been there recently?"
"Ha, not in many years." Mike said with a bright smile. "But I hear there are some cool ghost Pokemon up there so I might take a quick look sometime soon!" he looked to Kasiya still smiling. "Maybe after I take someone to the department store to buy some moves for her Umbreon? I mean, unless you wanna keep using Faint Attack." he teased. Waving goodbye, the couple exited the Gym, a sullen look flashing over Mike's face for the briefest of moments before he and Kasiya got on Nitro and took off for Lilycove.
Tate followed the duo as the disappeared into the sky. "Something very strange about that one." he mused to his sister. "It was like part of him just...wasn't there." He didn't know exactly, but that boy had lead a very...interesting life.

After the little crash in the middle of the arena, Bird Keeper Rod seemed to have figured out that this Paras was the real deal, and that could only mean one thing - order Peck attacks over and over again, until the end of time; amen. "Peck!" he yelled, seemingly not caring that his little owl had been paralyzed by Paras' spores. The Hoothoot bounced up to its feet, only to teeter dangerously to one side before falling over again. Paras' Stun Spore was certainly doing its job.
"Now's your chance, Paras!" Jasper called out to his bashful battler. "Scratch it while it can't move!" In theory, it sure seemed like a good idea, but to Paras, getting close to that nasty Hoothoot was the last thing he wanted to do and he made a half-turn, looking up at Jasper almost expectantly. The bandanna-wearing youth frowned a bit, not entirely sure what the hold up was. Had Paras forgotten how to, err, scratch things? "C'mon, Paras. You know... Scratch?" Jasper knelt down a bit, his hands curved slightly to resemble Paras' claws and he made little scratch motions with them as though to demonstrate. "Scratch, scratch! Scratchity-scratch?"
The Mushroom Pokemon looked a bit annoyed by his trainer's actions - he knew what a Scratch attack was, after all - but if it would stop Jasper from making a fool out of himself, well fine! Albeit a bit apprehensively, Paras scuttled forward, his little eyes narrowed as he reared back and slashed at his paralyzed opponent not once, but twice, leaving twin gashes along its sides. Feeling somewhat accomplished, Paras gave a little cheer and hopped back, looking on in cautious determination to see what his opponent would do next. * * * * * * * * * * "Ohmigosh, ohmigosh, ohmigosh," Hayley repeated over and over again as she stared at Cynder, and soon she was jostling and shifting the Snivy and Pikachu in her arms so she could pull her Pokedex out of her bag and point it at the newly-evolved fire type. 'It has a hotheaded and barbaric nature. In battle, it whips its fiery tail around and slashes away with its sharp claws. It is always seeking new opponents and only calms down when it has won.' Cynder whipped his head around to look at the device as it prattled off the information, giving a bit of an approving nod. One of the Beedrill on the ground nearby twitched suddenly, and Cynder gave it a second flame bath, prompting a furrowed brow from Hayley. "Uh, okay, perhaps we should get out of here..." she murmured, stuffing the 'Dex back into her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. "Cynder, Tiss, let's get a move on."
The Charmeleon and Nidoran didn't need to be told a second time and they quickly followed along after their trainer, with Cynder ushering Tisyphone along ahead while he brought up the rear. Any would-be attackers trying to sneak up on them would be in for quite a surprise. Now that they were no longer being pursued by a swarm of really pissed-off Beedrill, finding their way out of the forest was relatively easy. Hayley also managed to find some healing herbs and berries along the way, and as soon as they were far enough away from Viridian Forest's exit, she mashed them together to make a paste for Ivy and the Pikachu. Part of her Watcher studies had involved learning about common plants to use for medicinal purposes, and she was quite glad she'd paid attention during those lessons. Before long, she'd cured the poisoning and had given them all a few Oran Berries to munch on. For the most part, everyone was feeling pretty good, except for poor little Mya who was still pretty much out of it.
Hayley had no trouble convincing Tisyphone to return to her Pokeball, and even Ivy was a little reluctant. Cynder was having none of that and walked along defiantly ahead, and feeling like she'd just escaped a nightmare, the pajama-clad girl continued onward to Petwer City. She'd managed to convince the Pikachu to go with her so she could get checked out at the Pokemon Center and the mouse rode along in her arms, still feeling a bit tired after the Beedrill ordeal. It must have been close to lunch time by the time the brunette arrived safely at sweet, sweet civilization and after a bit of wandering, set herself on the right path to the Pokemon Center.

Keegan snorted in reply to Flannery's comment, running his hand over his stomach as though to make sure she was only joking. He wasn't by any means completely ripped or anything, but years and years of back-breaking labor had left him in pretty good shape. Small victories, he supposed. He considered another slice of pizza but decided against it for now, instead leaning back across the rock until he was looking up at the sky. He could see a bit of Flannery's hair in his peripheral vision and he grinned a little, wondering if the other redhead would ever change her hairstyle. Probably not, or at least nothing drastic, anyway.
Actually, he thought dully, but wisely chose to keep said thoughts to himself, recently it has been brought to my attention that yes, I am in fact, that dumb, but please, continue. He shifted slightly so he could look up at Flannery as she spoke, frowning a bit as she brought up what had happened back at the gym. "Yeah, I'm sorry you had to be there for that," he sighed, closing his eyes. He wasn't expecting her next statement, however, and he couldn't help but smile. He figured that if he replied with modesty, she'd probably deck him in the nose and he didn't really feel like getting his face all mussed up again. She was giving him a genuine compliment, and he knew that Flannery wouldn't say something like that unless she meant it. "Thanks, Flannery," he said, sitting up and looking directly at her, not feeling the need to remind himself of the hell they went through yesterday. "That means a lot, coming from you. And I do know. My Pokemon and I, well, we're no pushovers, and I intend to make sure everybody else knows that from now on, as well."
He rose from the rock and stretched, groaning slightly as his joints popped noisily back into their rightful places. "Really, though, thanks. And I'm sorry things didn't work out the way we wanted them to." He leaned down and kissed her cheek. "You can have the rest, by the way," he added, gesturing to the remaining slices of pizza before turning and heading back into town. He had Pokemon to heal, and a game plan to figure out. No more Mr Nice Guy, or, well, whatever kind of guy he was right now. It was time to get serious. ===== It's about time, Damien thought to himself as he watched the Vulpix succumb to Drowzee's Hypnosis. He very nearly made a comment about the redhead needing her PokeDex to identify the Psychic-type but decided against it, as there was no need to be that petty. "Confusion," he commanded calmly, glancing around the perimeter of the battle area. For the moment, things seemed relatively normal and he allowed himself to relax a little.
Once again, Drowzee began to move her hands, this time emitting a pinkish aura that she used to take hold of the little fox. She raised her right arm high, lifting the Vulpix into the air. Her eyes seemed to twinkle with hidden delight as she brought her arm down again, sending Amber hard into the solid, wooden floor.

Perhaps Kasiya was a little more excited for the badge than she'd initially thought, especially once she'd accepted it from Liza and she stared at it, wide-eyed. It was heart-shaped and she realized it couldn't have been more fitting for the moment, though she also came to the realization that she didn't have any proper cases for her two (somewhat slow growing, as of late) badge collections. She thanked the gym leaders and stowed it with her Heat Badge, quietly contemplating challenging a few other Hoenn Gyms sometime in the near-ish future. Prize money and TMs were always good too, though she wasn't sure she even had any Pokemon that could learn Calm Mind.
"Hey, I didn't say anything about not having a rematch, just maybe, y'know, not here," Liza retorted, crossing her arms over her chest again, though she wasn't sure she liked Mike's teasing tone. If these two had stronger Pokemon than the ones they'd used in the battle, well, she almost shuddered to think of it.
Most of the conversation from then on out pretty much went over Kasiya's head as she continued to think about the other gyms in the region and how her younger, and less-experienced Pokemon would probably benefit from the challenges. She was also a little excited for the prospect of challenging Blaine, but she'd be able to wait a bit on that one, at the very least, until Shocker was well again. She blinked a few times, coming back into the conversation in time for Mike to mention shopping, and she frowned playfully at his comment. "I'll Faint Attack your face," she teased right back, giving him a gentle poke in the side as she followed Mike outside. "Bye, Liza! Bye, Tate! Thanks for the great battle!" she called, and moments later they'd climbed onto Nitro's sturdy back and were headed for Lilycove City.
Liza followed alongside her brother, returning Kasiya's cheerful wave as the couple took to the skies on a Charizard. "Hmm?" Liza looked at her brother, and shrugged. "Yeah, I never was able to get a full read on him," she said, crossing her arms again. "But whatever it is - was - is, I think he's on the right path now."
=-=-=-=-= The professor tensed slightly as the two Rocket grunts drew a pair of knives, apparently not happy that the battle was most certainly not in their favor. He stepped forward to say something, but found himself oddly silenced as suddenly there was a Metapod being handed to him. "Oh, hey there, little friend," Oak said, looking from the Cocoon Pokemon and back to Kressen. It seemed the redhead was confident he could take on the two armed thugs. "Now, Kressen, think just a minute here," the older man said, a bit of a worried tone in his voice, but he wasn't sure the trainer would listen to him. He shifted the Metapod so that it was under his one arm, quickly scanning the nearest shelves for other Pokemon that might be useful to help them out. Confident or not, Kressen could very well be in trouble here.
=-=-=-=-= Okay, so she probably wouldn't have hit him (probably!) if Keegan had responded with anything other than a thank you, but Flannery was admittedly a little surprised to hear him agree with her and for a moment she wondered if she'd spaced out and was daydreaming this entire conversation. That wasn't the case though, and she smiled and nodded as he spoke. She wasn't sure just where this side of him had come from, but she liked it. She was about to ask if that meant that he planned on going after more gym badges, but before she could get a chance to, he'd leaned in and kissed her cheek. Her eyes widened a little but she managed to keep herself from blushing, as it was a friendly gesture that she often gave herself. "Um, okay, you're welcome, then" she said, smiling a little as she helped herself to some more pizza. One last thought occurred to her, however, and she stood up. "The next time I see you, you better have like, a gazillion badges!" she called after him. "Or else!"
=-=-=-=-= Karrigan grit her teeth as she watched the Drowzee's Confusion toss poor Amber around like she were a stuffed toy. She wasn't sure how much the Vulpix could take, or even if she was still able to battle but she wasn't about to chance letting the fox get hurt even further. The fact that she was asleep and unable to protest made it easier to recall her, and she studied the Drowzee carefully as she thought about which Pokemon to send out in Amber's place.
The obvious choice was Ikouma and she knew it, for the Sneasel sported a very useful immunity to Drowzee's Psychic-type attacks. She wouldn't be allowed to send out Aegeus and Lennier didn't have any attacks other than Confusion, which would make fighting another Psychic-type tedious for him. Naga was still a bit too little, and she almost didn't want to send out Ikouma, but the dark-haired boy's earlier comment still lingered in her mind. "Ikouma, you're up," she said quietly as her Sneasel appeared in a flash of light, and she didn't hesitate to give her first command. "Taunt." There would be no more of that obnoxious Hypnosis. Ikouma took a few steps forward, eyes narrowed at the Psychic-type. He gave a bit of a grin and raised his claws, daring Drowzee to come and get him.

As Lilycove was but a stone's throw away from Mossdeep, the pair arrived there within minutes. Mike sighed. He couldn't seem to keep himself away from this place. It must be my punishment, the boy thought. Melodrama aside, he couldn't argue that it was a perfectly convenient pit-stop before they headed out. "A quick stop at the store then we can heal up and head out," Mike asked somewhat rhetorically. Neither of their Pokemon were seriously injured in the gym battle, so there was no real need to rush to the center.
Nitro touched down right outside the department store and lowered himself to the ground, a proud grin on his lips. "Yes, yes." Mike hopped off and helped Kasiya down from the dragon's back. "We're both very proud of your flying skills. Aren't we, love?" He smiled at his Pokemon, who continued to wear his smug expression while he was recalled back into his ball. "Goofy little lizard." Mike said as he gently snapped the Pokeball onto his strap, then locked his hand with Kasiya's. "Fourth floor." he continued. "If you want TMs, they're on the fourth floor." As the Hoenn native, and a frequenter of this fair city, it felt only natural that he lead the way. "That is of course if anything else catches your eye along the way."
