.::Stark::.

Stark walked out into the Courtyard, the breeze cool and welcome on his scars, both old and new. That last battle had taken quite a bit out of him- out of the whole Team, in fact- but it had been worth it in the end. The Tribe of Everlasting Balance had pledged support to the Guild, a powerful group of allies indeed. And yet, Stark still felt... hopeless. There was evidence everywhere- the world was crumbling, sinking into darkness. So many people were dying. It wouldn't be long before everything collapsed entirely.

Stark stood up a little straighter, however- he couldn't just give in. Much as it hurt to hear, Argonne was right. He was being a coward. No matter the outcome, he was going to fight to the bitter end. This world was worth fighting for, after all.

Stark nodded to himself, then turned to leave, when something caught his eye- a blur of blue-white at the edge of his vision. He turned toward it, and his breath caught in his throat. One of his own- that was an unusual sight, nowadays. He had expected most of his kind to have retreated into the mountains by now, waiting out what they assumed was yet another disaster. Stark moved toward the other Absol as she- Why, yes- she is a female- looked into the depths of one of the fountains. Stark chuckled to himself- he knew exactly how enthralling those things could be. He walked up slowly, stopping a few paces away, and cleared his throat.

"Remarkable, isn't it? Seeing so much running water in one place, I mean." He sat, feeling at ease so close to another kinsman. "Where you and I are used to, it's fairly uncommon. I guess down here they can afford to spend such a commodity in such a way." He smiled, looking up at the clear spout of water.

"It's quite beautiful, I have to admit."

Aloura

As Aloura stared into the water, she allowed her thoughts to wander as her focus on the rest of the world dimmed. To that end, she did not notice the other pokemon until he let out a slight cough. Slightly surprised, the absol turned towards the noise to be met with the unexpected sight of another absol. Said absol was a bit larger than she, (but then again most absols were- she was small for her kind) and the many scars that decorated him bespoke of how dangerous he could likely be if he so wished it. Initially this made her a tad nervous, but he seemed quite amiable. This, and the fact that they were both absols, quickly put her at ease. Contentedly, she followed the other pokemons suite and looked back to the fountain.

"I have never seen such a strange thing as this, but there is a certain grace held in it to be sure." Aloura agreed with a warm smile that reached her blue eyes. She relaxed more even as she spoke. "I have never seen any other absols here either..." she trailed off for a moment, shifting her glance back to him before adding "Would you mind if I asked what you are called?"

.::Stark::.

Stark nodded as she described the fountain- to be sure, he had reacted much the same way to these strange devices- though, honestly, it still intrigued him that water was used for decoration in the lowlands. But, in the end, she was right- there was a certain grace in water, a sensation that could not be captured when it was frozen. He turned at her statement about the rarity of their kind. It was true, after all- most Absols did not take such an active interest in the world. He was about to respond when she asked his name. He paused for a moment, then decided to answer.

"Stark Dravin. A pleasure to meet you." He turned back to the fountain. "There are a lot fewer of us left in the lowlands, it seems. Likely they're retreating to the mountains. They assume they can take refuge in the mountains, ride out this disaster... but it's not something that will simply disappear if we avoid it. We have to act." He shook his head, as though dislodging this depressing thought.

"But enough about that. May I, in turn, ask what you are called, miss?"

Aloura

Stark. It was certainly an odd name, but by no means a bad one. Far from it. Aloura hardly knew the abosl but it somehow seemed to her to be rather fitting. As for the comment, Aloura didn't quite know what to think. As well as she knew, her clan had never been out of the mountains, much less retreated to them. Far as they were concerned, other poekmon didn't even exist. Even so, the sense of impending disaster had caused problems even in her cut off corner of the world. She could see why other absols would want to avoid it as much as they possibly could. Her thoughts about taking action, however, were one and the same with Starks. They would accomplish nothing by hiding. They had to do something about it. That was why she was here, after all.

The absol considered venturing a comment on the statement, but decided otherwise when Stark shook his head and shortly thereafter asked for her name. The latter action of which she conceded to readily. "I have been given the name Aloura." she responded, slightly surprised to be called miss. She wasn't used to such formalities. "And meeting you, Stark, is certainly a pleasure," the comment was completely sincere. It really was incredibly nice to be around another absol, especially one as pleasant as Stark. "As for what is to come, we are of a shared opinion. My kin are also in the mountains, and they have done not a thing to help stop this. They are not even of the belief that there is an outside world. I think you are correct. We must take some action." Her statement was a definite, firm opinion, but it faded to a softer thoughtfulness as she continued, "I know what they fear though. Acting against an enemy you do not know is a difficult task."

Stark nodded at her name- Aloura. Fitting, he thought. Very elegant, considering the other Absol's manner. He smiled and inclined his head slightly at her greeting. "Likewise, a pleasure to meet you, as well, Aloura." He listened intently, then, to the description of her clan- sequestered, it seemed, even comapred to other Absols. In a way, he didn't blame them- the lowlands were dangerous, prone to chaos of all kinds. The mountains seemed to offer something else- like they could somehow weather catastrophe better than their neighbors. But it was incorrect, all the same.

Stark nodded again. "It is true. We don't know much about the enemy we have to face. It has been- frightening sometimes. Very much, so. But what scares me more than that... is knowing what happens should we simply allow this threat to persist. No matter the outcome, if we let our enemy continue unchecked..." His expression grew stern at this point, as though trying to intimidate some invisible threat around them, "then we shall all suffer."

He sighed. "My clan used to understand this- we were closer to the lowlanders, at one point. But, then, a representative from some group here came to the village... they convinced many of our own to follow them- even as they destroyed their own home around them," he said, his eyes growing unfocused as he remembered that night. "Since then, my clan has not trusted the lowlanders with anything- they fled deeper into the mountains, guarding themselves from any... 'corruption' that would come from those who lived apart from them." He growled deep in his throat.

"They're fools if they think they can survive by isolating themselves." He glanced back at Aloura, and bowed his head. "I'm sorry- I didn't mean to vent all of this on you. It's just... you seem to understand how I feel. After all, we're somewhat the same, you and I- two Pokemon away from their own, both in disagreement with the rest of our kind."

Aloura

Aloura found her self completely agreeing with the way Stark had put the situation. She was sure she'd known it somewhere subconsciously, but she had not really realized it until now. The enemy truly was a less daunting thing then what would result for it being left to it's own devices. She very nearly shuddered at the thought of what would happen if the guild was not there to help stop it's progress.

Aloura pondered this for a moment, when Stark begun speaking of his clan. There was a certain grimness about him that had not been present before. She could even hear a brush of pain in his voice. She had the feeling that there had been much more damage dealt to the absol than the short summary he had allowed for. Concerned, Aloura glanced over to the other absol only to see his eyes misted over, likely with some recollection. This was followed by a deep chested growl that only served to increase her concern. She had only just meet the absol, but she had quickly come to like him. She did not want to see him suffering. Though he seemed to think otherwise as he apologized, it did not bother Aloura in the slightest that he had vented to her. If listening to him would help, then it was the very, very least she could do.

Her eyes softening, Aloura reached out a paw to raise Starks bowed head, meeting his eyes with a guileless look. "There is no need for apology," She said gently, letting the paw fall back to the ground. "We are of the same kind, and have come to this place for the same purpose. I will always be willing to lend an ear to you, Stark. Our kind may not be of understanding, but the same cannot be said of us. As you said, we are in disagreement with our kind. And so we shall do what we can." She smiled slightly, "This is a world worth the fight, thought it is of a perilous nature. There is hope, though small, that they perhaps will come to see that to."

Aku xxxxxJack

Aku and Jack headed out to the courtyard for a bit of a stroll. Each Pokemon was having a hard time falling asleep in their new home.

"It's nice out here...I wonder if they'd let us sleep out here..."

Jack nodded in agreement, looking around the place. He kept a simple look on his face, not wanting to look excited or too happy. That wouldn't be the cool thing to do. Aku took note of this laid back behavior, and lightly pushed her new friend.

Jack gave her a forced and dramatic taken aback expression, putting a paw over his heart, and shaking his head, jaw dropping. He waited a moment, and then his dramatic expression melted into a teasing grin.

"What? I could file for assault and battery!"

As Aku and Jack walked through the courtyard, they would inevitably come upon a pokemon that many had seen before.
It was always a bit of a surprise, the first time. To see such a massive and rare pokemon. But there was also a sense of normalcy to his existence; he was a common sight in the guilds and above the city, if only by virtue of his massive size and presence.
This, however... this was surreal.
The massive beast was slumped against a tree. The thick tree seemed to be decades old, but it still craned and groaned in protest under the giant's weight.
Leaning against the tree was a Lugia. His body was flat against the ground and his feet were resting against the earth. A small fork and knife danced back and forth from his stomach to his mouth. Each one was carefully controlled with the considerable and powerful psychic the Lugia was capable of.
If anyone got close enough to take a good look, they would be able to identify a truly massive plate that rest across the Lugia's stomach. It was laden with pile after pile of pancakes that the Lugia seemed to be rather happily partaking in.

Aku's mouth dropped as her eyes studied the massive Pokemon not too far off from her own, tiny body. Her eyes were trying to comphrehend what she was looking at, cause there was no way she was seeing what she thought she saw...tongue twister...

Jack looked at Aku, and followed her gaze. It landed on Lugia, how could it not? He kept his cool and calm demeanor, but on the inside all of his guts were dancing with joy! His heart racing. He had just laid eyes upon a legendary...and it was only like...his second day at the guild! Boy had he picked the most righteous path (to coolness)! Maybe he'd even be bros with a Lugia.

Aku jumped up with joy and spread out her arms. But they were in a court yard, and her glide did not last long without a steady and consistent wind. She tried not to run, but ended up in a fast awkward gait with her arms out like an airplane.

"Ohmy-....er...uh...Hello, I am Aku. Head Captain of Team Semper Fi! This here is my second in command...Jack."

Aku motioned with an arm at her partner, but when she looked, he was not standing beside her. Her arm dropped as her gaze quickly and anxiously scanned the yard, and eventually Jack approached, and stood where Aku had motioned to prior. His eyes were half closed, and he had his head tilted up, as if he didn't even care that a Lugia was sitting right before him! Aku found this highly disrespectful of her partner, and gave him a little shove,

"I apologize about his lack in personality and manners!"

Jack scoffed,

"I lack not in personality, oh dear Aku."

[Don't worry, I was just posting in hopes to make friends! And it worked!]

Desmond

Desmond stared at the young pair for a few moments as he carefully considered his options.
Normally he would just take control of their minds, wipe out the last few minutes and then send them on their merry way.
But on the other hand, he was in a fairly good mood. Pancakes did that to him.
Do I mind wipe them... or deal with them...?
Mind wiping them would definitely be a lot easier, but on the other hand they seemed fairly young.
Desmond took something of a "brute force" approach to the whole "psychic intrusion" thing, so it was possible he could permanently damage them if they were young.
Eh... I'll deal with them.
The fork and knife stopped dancing in midair and the Lugia raised his right arm in a sort of half-hearted wave.
"Evening."

Aku's ears drooped as she realized this legendary probably wanted nothing to do with two little annoying noobs. Especially because of Jack's attitude, which hadn't been very polite. Aku gave a little clearing of the throat, and put her arms behind her back, trying to seem a little bit more refined and collected,

"Sorry if we interrupted your meal...we'll leave immediately."

Aku knew that the Lugia did not want enthusiastic attention from "fans" or some sort of thing like that. Her guilt and shame began to show on her face as she began to quickly walk away. Jack, on the other hand, watched Aku leave, but did not budge. Instead he turned back to the Lugia.

"Huh. You made my partner blush. Wasn't very nice, but she is a girl...takes things too seriously sometimes. Anyway, what is a big brute like you doing out here?"

Jack's cool and calm demeanor was nearly ruined when a rumble erupted from his belly. Aku and Jack had only just gotten here, they weren't settled enough yet to get any real meals in. Either way, he pretended to ignore it.

Aku was not too far away, staking out in a bush and waiting for her partner to come to her. So stupid Aku...gah...and he's a Lugia! He totally knows you're hiding in the bush...I hope Jack isn't being mean...

Desmond

Desmond mentally shrugged as the fork and knife renewed their slow and careful dance. He didn't really care about the kids.
No part of him, however, was fond of being insulted. Especially by such a tiny, weak little creature.
The cutlery came to a halt before slowly dropping onto the plate to rest. Desmond simply looked over at the Minccino.
"Your friend's anxiety isn't my fault. And as to why I'm here..."
Desmond slid the plate off of his stomach with psychic and let it rest on the ground as he rolled forward onto his feet. Now standing, the Lugia's full size was easily apparent... he was at least a good ten or eleven times taller than either of the pokemon and he had to weigh a good thirty times more than either of them did. Simply put, he was massive.
Desmond looked down at the Minccino with a glare.
"I'm here to make sure that when the fighting starts, the people dying aren't kids like you."

Aku stopped trembling but did not leave the bush. She did not want to, and she'd prefer if her partner just left the legendary alone, so as no one got hurt. She agreed with the Lugia, it was not his fault at all for her anxiety, she should have never approached in the first place. Jack clearly felt different.

"Kids like me? I don't need it as much as Aku seems too."

Jack looked behind him, scanning the yard and his eyes eventually landed on a bush that had a yellow ear sticking out of it a bit. Aku always underestimated the size of her ears, and would be insulted if he said anything, so he pretended to keep scanning, until he shrugged, and turned back to the legendary,

"What fighting? Why would fighting happen in here? Are we not safe in here?"

"What fighting"...? Was the Five Islands really that unaware of what was going on, or had the kids just not been informed?
Then again, so many seemed totally oblivious lately. Part of that was Tolin's fault for covering up most of it.
Not that it hadn't been a good decision. It would've been bad if reality had slipped out.
"The guild attracts trouble. There's always been a lot of fighting here and there, but normally it's nothing major. Some idiots who have decided they would like the guild's possessions, or think they're the rightful rulers or whatever. Usually they just get beaten down and that's the end of it. Right now, though, there's a group that's declared a bit of a war on the guild. They're much, much stronger than normal pokemon. You kids would be better off staying out of it. You'd just get in the way."
It was a little bit brutal, but it was absolutely true. If something happened and they got involved, they would just distract the stronger members.
"Hold on."
The Lugia suddenly disappeared, as if he had never been there to begin with.
It was only a few moments later that he reappeared holding a normal-sized plate.
One of the pancakes floated off of his plate, up through the air and onto the one he now held. A brief exertion of psychic later and it had been cut clean it two.
"Eat up." Desmond put the plate down and then looked straight over at Aku. "You too."
A psychic force took hold of Aku's body and pulled her up and out of cover before dragging her through the air and depositing her by the plate.
Though there was only one pancake, it was considerably larger than normal. For the two very small creatures it would be more than enough, even split in half.

Jack was about to protest him getting in the way, and how he and Aku could only help, when the Lugia poofed. How could he get in the way? He would get stronger, and prove the legendary wrong. A big leap for a little Minccino, but keeping Aku safe was his priority, and if keeping the guild safe meant keeping Aku safe, he wanted to have everything to do with this war.

The Lugia reappeared and had pancakes. Jack opened his mouth, just to shut it. He didn't really want to make the legendary angry, he would just have to prove his worth through action, not words.

"Good hiding spot, Aku."

Aku growled under her breathe at Jack, but didn't mind too much. She felt pretty cool getting pulled through the air by a Lugia. This was definitely her new idol. She was placed on the ground right beside her plate, and gave Jack a glare before turning her gaze towards the Lugia.

"You never told us your name....Are you on a team?"

She felt stupid for asking, but she was quite curious. She plopped on her rump and began eating her half of pancake. Jack watched her out of the corner of his eye, making sure she ate all of it before eating some of his own. Even though it was quite huge, the two didn't really have enough funds to buy good food too often.

"Thank you very much for the food."

"Yes, yes! Thank you."
