Kal was doubtful about this large squirrel actually being a god or anything of the divine sort, but it was offering a cozy bed for the night, so Kal really couldn't complain. "Any food or water around? We've had a decently long durationed trip," he asked, trying to word it as intelligently as he could. He wanted to sound respectful to the large chainmail wearing rodent. For even if it wasn't a god, it did wear armor, and did carry a staff, meaning held magical power. Best not to disrespect a powerful mage. Even a rodent mage. No need to provoke damage upon one's self.

Laren nodded at the avatar's instructions and Zeus, being already on her shoulder just ruffled his feathers and began cleaning them. The ranger went about her task, completely trusting in the god's judgemen, though subconsciously keeping an eye out for danger.

Erron watched as Laren focused on her feathered ally, he turned to the avatar and made his question brief.

"Are there any dragons to rival the strength of the gods?"

((Wow that made no sense... fixed.))
Selce looked at Erron in a dumb sense of shock,'Is it possible?' She asked herself very unsure, her heart at odds with her mind to formulate her opinion on the matter, or if it was even conceivable. She looked at the avatar. "That can't be possible, can it? Or could say a mage ever grow to such power to rival a god?" She asked hoping the answer was a very assured no.

((One thrust into the plot, then back to work again stressed Future reference, keep checking the OOC Thread for status updates.))

Upon Laren touching the base of the tree, her eyes opened wide, as did Zeus', glowing brightly with emerald light. In fact, the entire forest seemed to glow in response to their touch. The world around them seemed to fade away as the pair arrived in a world similar to the one they had just departed.

Laren was surprised however to find Zeus was no longer seated comfortably on her shoulder. She now felt his presence in her mind, as well as his wings fused to her arms, magnified by her size.

Echoing in her head were the heralds' words:
"...travel southwards, I cannot tell you what you will see, however you must investigate what you find and acquire something from the journey... It will impart its own knowledge to you as well as send you back to this world..."

Back in the mortal realm, the group was somewhat shocked at Laren's trance, as to them it appeared she was frozen in place. The avatar of Kernell turned to the mageling who spoke so inquisitively to it.

"Young mage, you must know that all things in this world are linked to the pantheons above. While little can contend with the divine, the divine often are vain and create items that are extensions of themselves. Mortals often refer to them as artifacts, however they are far more than that. It is rare that such an item remains out of the gods' possession for long, as they are missed dearly by their creators. The only exception to this of course is Chaos himself. He does things that even he does not fully understand. The pantheons attempt to chain him, however he is by far the craftiest amongst all the gods, and therefore remains unabated and free to cause mischief, or good, wherever he feels it would be most amusing. My personal belief is that Chaos granted whomever orchestrated this war an artifact that allows the bearer to avoid divine wrath... A most grievous event though it may be."

"Such an item could be used for incalculable evil. We must find such a thing and destroy it!" Tjaden said almost immediately. He could not fathom a reason why a servant of good would want to conceal their actions from the gods. The very thought of doing so would imply guilt.
"Our small group has already surmised that a third party is responsible for both racial conflicts. We seek proof of such a thing and a direction for the unfettered hatred which plagues mortal lands." Tjaden explained. "We are currently seeking our next lead to unravelling the threads of this national mystery."

Brurag sighed as he walked back and forth, listening to what the talking squirrel had to say. He found it hard to believe but then again if a squirrel could talk who knows what could be. He spoke up to the thing and asked it
"Where do exactly do we go and how will we know what we're looking for when we get there?" He was tired of all this waiting around and doing nothing. If that squirrel wanted them to get something done then he should've told them were to go and let them be on their way.

The divine herald turned his gaze to the rugged warrior.

"You do not go anywhere. Laren, ranger guardian of nature, is currently traversing the dream world and is attempting to find some enlightenment on the current situation. Until she has found what we cannot reach due to our constraint to these shrines, I would recommend that you get rest. My woodland spirits are guarding this shrine both in the material world and the dream. The dream is a far more dangerous place for those not attuned to nature. You would likely be incapacitated if you were to enter it anywhere other than one of my shrines."

Kernell could see that Brurag was still impatient and let out an odd sigh.

"If you are still persistent in ignoring your opportunity for rest, then fall asleep next to any of the trees near this shrine. You will enter the dream and be able to aid my spirits in defending this shrine from the nightmares that prowl throughout it."

((UGH! college kills so much time!))

Laren couldn't help but make a puzzeled face as she looked at her new pair of wings. So her and Zeus have been merdged into one fo the duration of this then? This got her wondering which one of them was eally in charge of their combined form and she quickly got her answer as she looked up at the sky, pondering this question.

"FLY!" came the overwelming instinct, while Laren herself quickly deduced the instinct came from Zeus she still never the less felt the compulsion and began to wave her arms to see if she actually could.

The dream world was fascinating to the eye. Everything seemed to have wisps of light surrounding and circling them, from the trees to stones to anything that was a part of nature. However one thing to the south suddenly appeared as a great beacon to the ranger.

There were some ruins that were arriving fast at the pace that the flying elf was approaching. Immediately she hovered over a set of strange ruins that glowed brightly; a great oak that overshadowed the entirety of the stone ruins.

It was dying, the roots reaching out extraordinarily far for a single tree. The tree's limbs wilted and the bark was decaying.

Come to me... Ranger... Hear me...

The voice seemed to resound in Laren's mind, it must be originating from the ancient tree.

Tjaden was not battle weary, but the offer to rest was a welcome break from a long walk. Still, he was uncertain as to what was going on. The squirrel-thing had appeared rather suddenly and the shrine itself was a strange sort of place.

"Your offer of hospitality is most welcoming." Tjaden said with a short bow. He did not know how much a nature god would stand on curtsey, but he knew that many of the gods required acknowledgement for the gifts they imparted on mortals.

Tjaden was certainly far more relaxed in this environment than he had been on their trek, but he was done asking questions of others and waiting for their response. A sort of anxiety had gripped him upon leaving the city which compelled him to find his own answers and deduce his own conclusions. To that end, he set about exploring the small shrine, its layout, its construction, its symbols and any other aspect that may have caught his eye. Bringing his learned view of human religion to evaluate the shrine, Tjaden hoped to ascertain more about what they had stumbled on. After all, they had came to this shrine because they were told it was unique to the point that those who encountered it saw fit to impart the knowledge to adventures....and most people did not send adventurers anywhere that wasn't, in some way, dangerous.

((Basically, Tjaden is looking for a description of the surrounding area and anything he notices that is out of place for a small, road-side shrine.))

"I suppose lending a hand would not be a bad idea, perhaps we might glean some insight into the situation Laren is facing, and in the process help." Erron said as he ran his hand down the knotted trunk of a gnarled tree dressed in rose colored petals, it seemed out of place amongst the other trees in it's age and garment. He stretched his arms high and yawned "Besides, having awoken so early at haven has left me slightly....how to put it, not feeling one with myself." He made sure he wasn't about to sit on any squirrels and lay with his back against the tree, his hands behind his head. "Do as you wish." He finished before closing his eyes.
