It didn't take Donovan long to catch up, his strong sense of smell making the scent trail almost tangible to his senses. He paused behind a corner, hearing the quiet sound of ... squeaking? He peered around the corner, seeing Elizabeth sitting down and crying. Frowning, he slowly walked around the corner. He knew if he was crying, he would want to be left alone but women liked to be comforted. Right? Without saying anything, he sat down beside her, sliding an arm around her shoulders and pulling her to him.

As soon as Elizabeth felt the arm be setted on her shoulders and the small tug from the person she silented her squeaks and shot her head up and looked at the person beside her. Her face was red along with the one eye that was not hidden by fallen hair. She stared at Donovan then wipped at her tears furiously. "Is there something you want?" she asked in a more harsh tone the she wanted it to come out as as she finished wipping her face clean of tears and looked at him once more.

Donovan watched as Elizabeth lifted her head, her crying ceasing. He watched with a sad smile as she tried to wipe the tears off her face. "Hush," he murmured, reaching his free hand forward to wipe away a tear that she had missed. He brushed her hair back behind her ear, revealing her other eye. Leaning forward, he kissed her forehead before whispering, "You're not alone in this."

Elizabeth tried to glare at him as he wipped away another tear and kissed her forhead but it failed as she couldn't hold a mean face toward him. She sighed to herself and looked away from him and stared at the floor hard as she stayed silent after he spoke. She knew she wasn't alone in what was going on; she didn't needed to be reminded.

As Elizabeth tried to glare at him, and failed, Donovan smiled weakly, slightly amused. A few days ago, it wouldn't have taken much at all for her to glare at him. He followed her gaze to the floor before looking back at her. "I know you probably think I have no right to say so," he told her. "but I will do my best to be a good husband to you."

Elizabeth lifted her eyes from the ground and looked over at him, her mouth stayed closed in a thin line for a moment before she spoke looking away from him. "Its okay, you really actually don't have to be nice to me." After that she looked back at him before she stood up, looking down at him.

Donovan wasn't sure whether he had crossed a line or not and, when she didn't respond right away, he started to get nervous. But then she spoke and he relaxed. "But I want to be," he told her, standing up as well. "I know I never acted like it, but I do really care about you."

Elizabeth stared at him as he stood for the longest moment before she spoke back. "Okay, if you want to thats fine." was all she said before she looked away. She felt odd for some reason which made her shift on her feet slightly uneasy as she looked back down at the floor.

Donovan watched her as he waited for her to speak. Once she finally did, he looked down at his shoes, then back up. With nothing better to say, he said, "We should probably get back to the main part of the building. Wouldn't want to get lost." He wouldn't get lost but she would, if he wasn't with her. He wanted to say so much more but didn't dare. Not yet.

Elizabeth sighed lightly at the mention of going back. "Fine, lead the way." she said as she did not know were exactly they were at.

Donovan nodded, leading the way back the way they'd come. He could have gone the other way, as it would lead back to the main part as well, but he didn't know it very well and didn't want to risk getting lost. That would be downright humiliating. He looked ahead but focused his attention back, listening to the sound of Elizabeth's footsteps to make sure she was still behind him.

Elizabeth followed behind Donovan slowly but fast enough that she didn't lose him. She stared at his back as he walked in front of her, but when she noticed him looking back slightly she turned her attention back to the floor. She felt so nervous around him but for what reason she couldn't figure out.

Whenever Donovan looked back, he could see her gaze dart to the floor. Frowning -more out of confusion than anything else-, he looked back ahead. He couldn't understand why she would look down every time he looked at her. Was it something he'd done? Something he'd said? He couldn't even tell if she did it because she was embarrassed or angry. Would someone look down out of anger? He shook his head. He'd been avoiding people for too long. Finally, after many twists and turns, they made it back to the hallway that led to the main room.

When she lifted her gaze from the floor once again she noticed he was no longer looking at her so she watched his back once more as they walked. As they reached the main room she stayed behind him a good foot away. She didn't know what she was suppose to do or say so she stayed still and silent waiting for Donovan to do something.

Donovan paused and turned around to face Elizabeth. He had felt her eyes on him the whole time he'd had his back turned. Now, he watched her, not entirely sure what to say or do. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he looked down then back up. "Do you, uh, want to get something to eat?" he asked. "I didn't get the chance to eat anything earlier so I doubt very much that you did."
