Kaguyo looked absolutely heartbroken. "Iie... Iie..." she whispered, falling to her knees. "Su-kun, gomen nasai.. aishiteru..." she moved closer to him, tears streaming down her face. "Aishiteru... I don't want to be Oujou... to be with Aled, Su-kun, I want you. I need you... Aoki-san, onegaishimasu, don't kill him... Onegai..."
Ainsu would be able to see she had carried the manuscript all this way; she still clutched it close to her. "I'll do anything Aoki-san. Don't hurt him..."

But Ainsu refused to meet her gaze.
"I think you've done my work for me, Kaguyo." Aoki laughed. "Both Ainsu and Aled are in distress, and you don't know what in hell to do... tragic really..." he shook his head, releasing Ainsu.
But the playwright didn't move.
He knew he couldn't fight Aoki...
"So... whatever shall I do, hmm?" the man asked, tilting his head again. "Kaguyo... I can't let you get away with this."
Ainsu turned, "Aoki-san, onegaishimasu... Kaguyo is not responsible, I..."
"Ah but she is. She broke the muse's hold..." Aoki laughed. "I so wanted to see what would happen..."
A burst of ki flew from Aoki to Kaguyo, completely unlooked for.
He meant to kill her...

Kaguyo's eyes widened, glancing from Ainsu to Aoki in a split second.
Her or Ainsu...?
She knew her choice.
She dropped the script, grabbing Ainsu and spinning to act as a shield.
She started to raise her ki to block the hit, Aled's warning echoing in her mind from the night before.
She should have been prepared... Aoki was right...
She grasped onto Ainsu tightly for a moment, her glow fleeting like a shooting star. Slowly her grip started to loosen, her eyes closing for a moment as her knees gave out.
The pain was excruciating, but that wasn't on her mind, sanguine stains spreading over the silver fabric and snow. Her eyes opened again, finding Ainsu and holding him there firmly.
"Gomen nasai..." she whispered, unable to keep hold of him. She collapsed to the snow, barely breathing, the blood-spattered manuscript only a few inches away.
Pages were getting whipped away in the wind... How she loved the wind... It was so cold...
She wasn't going to survive this time. It was a grim fact she had come to accept.
She should have thought.. should have lingered with Ainsu instead...
Too late for that now.

Ainsu's eyes went wide in shock.
For a long moment, the playwright was frozen...
Until Aoki's laugh split the sky.
"Foolish girl..." the man whispered, moving to pick up the pages of the script. He thumbed through them absently, all the while watching Ainsu's reaction.
The playwright collapsed to his knees beside her. Quickly, he pulled Kaguyo into his arms, brushing her hair away.
"Kaguyo-chan.... onegai..." he whispered, tears already swimming in his vision. "Hang on, please... I'll... I'll get help. Just please, Kaguyo-chan... onegai..."

Kaguyo leaned close to him, breathing in his smell. "Gomen nasai... aishiteru..." she kissed his palm gently.
She couldn't talk much, rivers of hot blood pouring over his knees. "Kazu-kun...call him..." she whispered, quickly going pale. "Bring me back..."
She clung as tightly to the poet as she could, trembling. She was dizzy and lightheaded again, the loss of blood making her colder and colder.
"Aishiteru..."

'KAZUHIKO!'
It was an urgent mental scream, one filled with panic and dread.
And the boy was not the only one to hear it...
Po-ar woke from a dead sleep.
Aled dashed from the palace, taking to the sky immediately.
Aoki glared at the couple.
"That will be the last thing you ever think..." he threatened...
But Ainsu wasn't listening. "Just hold on, Kaguyo-chan... Kazuhiko-kun can heal you... I know he can... Look at me..." the man whispered, gazing into her eyes. "Look at only me, Kaguyo-chan..."
Even as he did this, the man shielded her from Aoki's attacks...
And Aoki was attacking.
In a fit of self preservation, the muse was using what power it had to protect Ainsu.
But he still felt the pain of Aoki's ki blasts, over and over again against his back.
But nothing else mattered to him...
Only the woman in his arms...

Kaguyo watched him sadly. "I wish I would have stayed with you last night..." she whispered, "I wanted to..."
She tried to caress his cheek, but found herself weak and not quite able to do so. She shivered again. "Kowai desu..."
She was still crying. She wasn't ready for this.
"Aishiteru, Su-kun... gomen... gomen nasai..."
Kazuhiko appeared, wide-eyed. "NANDESU KA?!!" he demanded, before unleashing a fierce volley of ki balls at Aoki---even at the places he sensed he'd appear at. "SHINE!!! SHI-NE!!!" he shouted angrily. "KISAMA!!"

Ainsu smiled sadly, "Aishiteru, Kaguyo-chan... Eien ni..." he whispered, kissing her lips gently. "You'll be alright... I promise..."
He hoped that Kazuhiko would hurry.
However, the moment Kazuhiko appeared... Aoki was suddenly gone.
It was about this time that Aled landed as well.

Kaguyo kissed him back, her heart breaking completely.
She didn't want to leave him. Tears ran as freely as her blood did, but she held onto that kiss for as long as she could.
But everything was fading out. Everything was white, all snowy...
Kazuhiko landed, trying to heal her, but he frowned, pulling out the jar that had held Gwyllion and both his parents.
By the time Ainsu had pulled away she was gone.
Kazuhiko quickly gathered her soul into the jar, tucking it into his and his father's dimension.
"I'll bring her back, don't worry Susan..." he whispered, hugging Ainsu tightly. "Gomen nasai..."

"That pathetic fool.... I could have made her choice so much easier..."
Aoki had appeared again, laughing and mocking them.
Aled's ki was rising and fast, "b*****d... I'll kill you with my own hands!"
But Aoki simply laughed, holding up the play. "This really would have been a fine work, Ainsu... too bad..."
With a snap of his fingers... the pages went up in smoke.
For a moment, Ainsu didn't move. But there was suddenly a light in his eyes, a darkness rarely seen in the man...
"b*****d!" he screamed, lunging for Aoki.
But the man reached out, grabbing Ainsu's injured arm and twisting.
As the playwright went down to his knees, Aoki smirked. "I wonder how much pressure is needed, hmm?" he asked, twisting even harder until Ainsu cried out.
A swift kick to the head however sent Aoki off to the side.
Aled stood at the playwright's side, making sure the man was alright.
Laughing, Aoki stood once more. "Reinforcements... charming... seems like I'll have to bid you adieu... for now..."
And, like magic, Aoki was gone.
Just completely gone...
Kneeling in the dirt, Ainsu's injured arm lay limp in his lap.
"There was nothing you could have done." Aled spoke, looking over to Kaguyo's body.
But the playwright shook his head. "She died saving me... saving me when I was fully intending to kill myself..."

"She loves you." Kazuhiko whispered softly, sitting by her body thoughtfully. "What else did you expect her to do..?"
He waited for them to pick her up, waiting to teleport them back to the palace. "She isn't gone, though... We can bring her back, today even..." he promised. "Let's go.."

Tears fell from Ainsu's eyes. "Is it so easy?" he asked in a whisper. "To play with life and death..."
Aled had picked up Kaguyo's body by now, and as soon as they were back to the palace, he placed the woman on her own bed.
He turned, handing Ainsu the pages which Kaguyo had dropped in her dash.
After a moment, the playwright sat against the wall... and began to read...
HANA: Are you so sure of this, Kikinochi-sama? What if...
KIKINOCHI: We will not be discovered, my love. If they were to find us... I would die before I let them take you.
HANA: I can not ask you to risk your life for me...
KIKINOCHI: You never asked me to, Hana-dono. My life is yours, to give and take at your whim. There is nothing I would rather do, nowhere I would rather be... then right here... standing by your side...
The words which Ainsu read... words which were written in Kaguyo's flawless script... touched his soul.
Once Aled had taken Kazuhiko from the room, for they needed to inform Po-ar and Morrigan of what had happened...
Once he was alone...
Ainsu wept bitterly for his own foolishness... and for the love he had lost...

Morrigan had woken up the minute Po-ar had, grabbing his arm. "What's wrong??" she asked him, panicking. "Bad dream?? What's wrong??"
But when Kazuhiko and Aled came in, the boy shuffling silently...
She knew something terrible had happened.

Po-ar hadn't been able to answer, for all he had heard was Kazuhiko's name...
But when his father and son entered the room...
"Otousan... nani..."
Aled shook his head, "Kaguyo is dead. Aoki murdered her."

Morrigan gaped in disbelief. "W...What...??? What happened?!! It's not even noon yet... What happened??"
Kazuhiko shook his head. "We don't know.. Susan does...but... I don't think he likes talking about it... Mum, Da, can we bring the Cauldron here please??? Susan's really sad..." he whispered softly.
