Evidently it is against the rules to use a 30K Legion army list against any 40K lists. It is not fluffy.

To be fair, the 30K lists work better when pitted against one another, or against 40K lists that don't use all of that horrendous special formation / detachment crap each codex comes with these days. At my own store we're actually looking at implementing the Battles in the Age of Darkness mission structure from the Horus Heresy into regular 40K games, where you're not allowed to go Unbound or field Formations, but instead get to use the special force organisation charts (Spearhead, Leviathan etc.) instead, levelling the playing field enough for both types of player to have a fair fight on their hands.

We are planning to just use 6th ed rules as the two of us that are starting 30K do not have 7th ed.
