Hah, I have a Chinese friend who plays Mahjong, and just this past week we were giving him a hard time about it being a matching game.
He kept raging like "IT'S NOT LIKE THE WINDOWS GAME!" It was pretty funny.

I entirely blame Akagi.
Anime can make any game in the world sound like the most intense, extreme, world-shattering thing.

I watched an anime about Mahjong once. It was one of the most boring things I've ever watched. Like watching Prince of Tennis, only with less athleticism.

I've only ever known that and I enjoy it. Never tried it the traditional way it's played, but now I know. Pardon my ignorance.
