Ours is 6 months in military and civil service is 1 year. gonk
It used to be 13 months, but it was shorted to 1 year. Yeah 3nodding Wow, 6 months military service seems so short xd It's sucks for you though that civil service is 12 months gonk it doesn't seem right, like they're punishing you for not attending the miliary.

It does seem more like a punisment since it last twice longer then military. crying

its voluntary at the moment
though theres always some people who want to have the draft go back into effect
the draft is more like a lottery then required service
so not EVERYONE has to serve
but if you were one of the lucky ones to have your name picked out of a hat (i think they do it by birthday actually...) then you have to serve...or go to jail

Then the people who actually wants to join can join. And it's just like you said, it's kind of a lottery. And it's so typical that people who actually want to join doesn't get called in and people who don't want to are forced. It's stupid that you have to go to jail if you refuse. It used to be like that in Norway too (a veeery long time ago) but that's why they organized the civil service thing 3nodding at least it's better than going to jail. As: bye wink

No. It's just for guys who got accepted by the military, but has a (good) reason for not wanting.

Yeah, it is. It took some time getting used to, actually I'm still not quite used to it (it's not that long ago since he cut it).
