:::But seeing him come closer, she threw her arms around him, hating herself for yelling the way she did, and it set in that she'd felt anger towards him. It felt awful:::

I'm so sorry... :::she said between sobs:::

*Alex held her tight*

God.. I'm sorry too.. I.. I shouldn't have yelled. You came to give me hope.. and I threw it back at you. Its just.. I.. I can't forgive my father so easily. Didn't he know he was being hunted? And if he did... Why would he choose to have children? I... My god.. my mother and sister are still alive... That.. That is the best news I've heard in my entire life..

Only moments before the illustrious Commissioner of the GPD had been doing his duty to the people of Gaia, spraying the grey matter of some terrorist caught in the act across several blocks. Here he could barely lift the cannon he carried, hell, the cannon couldn't even exist in such a place. An orange glow retreated from around his right arm as he faded in and the clatter of two heavily battered pistols falling to the ground interupted the moment. The shattered visage of a Gaian had been replaced by the sight before him, "This day just keeps getting shittier..." He let out a sigh, thinking to himself, At least I could frag the other dude back home...

:::She laughed a little through the tears, relieved that the news had made him happy...:::

Alex...

:::But then she heard a voice, that haunted her still.... but this wasn't just her imagination. She pulled away suddenly, and looked to see...:::

*Alex looked over at the guy who had appeared*

Huh?

Tac didn't need this, not today, not this week, not this month, not this ******** year. He slowly bent down to pick up the two pistols that had fallen to place them in the holsters. He seemed to intentionally take too long, looking up to alex as he snapped the strap into place on each that held the pistols in place. His voice had an ounce of spite and a dash of hate, "A pleasure, I'm sure, Alex. Have you anything to say to the man that holds so much love that he died waiting to return to the woman you hold?"

:::Instinctively, she took a step away from Alex, not because she had wanted to...oh, that was hardly the case. She wished she could hide there until the rest of the world faded away, but this was for Tacitus, so he wouldn't have to look at them:::

:::She looked back and forth betweenthe two men... finally her eyes rested on Tacitus, new tears forming. She choked a bit as she tried to speak:::

Tacitus...

*Alex stood up and looked Tacitus in the eyes*

No. I don't believe I have anything at all to say to you."

*Alex stood there, emotionless. Tacitus's veiled threat obviously didn't work*

Tacitus did not keep his eyes locked to Alex's, but instead looked to Cora, "That fact speaks volumes of you, sir. Care more for your own self than this woman here who is obviously in pain at my being here. Cora, if you'd rather not have this encounter thrust upon you, I'll gladly leave, for your sake. This place gives us few choices in how we deal with our lives, so I'm giving you the chance."

:::She thought, she should tell him... but she couldn't look into his eyes:::

Tacitus... I live HERE now...

:::She gulped:::

Funny you should say that. It seems to me that you are the one who is causing Cora to feel this way. And it also seems to me that you're doing so intentionally. That's definately mean of you. I think that if you really do care about Cora, you should let her be happy instead of forcing painful situations. Don't you?

His gaze fell back to Alex, "I force nothing upon her. Its this damned place, I didn't chose to come here during this, I'm not forcing her to live here, I'm not the one who has come into her life as you have when she is vulnerable. I am offering her a chance right now to deal with me when she feels ready. I can't control my coming here, I can't control my own death, I can't control others, I can't control my own love for this woman. All I can control is my ability to lessen her pain by leaving right now if she so wills it."

:::All sorts of things started to jumble in her head. She certainly wished Tacitus wasn't there right then, but after all, he was still her friend and she still cared about him. All she really wished was that it wasn't this hard... she looked at the floor, tears dripping silently down:::

I'm sorry...

If I recall, you approched us, and you addressed me. "Have you anything to say to the man that holds so much love that he died waiting to return to the woman you hold?" I believe those were your exact words. And no, you don't have control of when you come here. And no, you didn't force her to live here. Neither do I. And what is all this about her being vulnerable? You act like I am a thief, Sir. I have taken nothing from you. Whether or not Cora left you or you left Cora isn't my concern. Obviously, your relationship wasn't exactly steady.

If either of Tac's pistols had been operable, it would be taking Tac considerable willpower not to try and kill Alex, but alas, fate is a b***h, as Nyx used to say. Tac glared at the, near literal, b*****d, "You'd be vulnerable too if the one you loved was known to you to be dead. I felt it in my heart for so many years when, between this god forsaken place and her own world, she was lost to me, so I thought. You have absolutely no idea what would have...what did happen. I have some idea by what she told me, and I'd never subject anyone to it, not even you. I don't know exactly how she's been returned to us, but I thank the gods I at least get to see her beautiful face, despite the pain. Nay, you're no thief, this hellhole and what was her world, they are the thieves."
