At least it isn't that n****e power juice anime, Nem.
For the record, they TOTALLY went far too literal for the use of "Soma." Its an ancient drink made from a plant found in Pakistan, written about in India, said to be ingested by the gods, and to heighten the senses (due to epinephrine in it and other "fun" things). Its sorta like a weird tea.
But what do you expect from anime?

When I heard they were coming out with a movie named "Bolt" I thought, "Oh, maybe the Jamaican runner?" Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was a Disney movie about a talking CGI dog. I want to sleep too, Jello. God, do I want to sleep.
