Faust sighed. "You're making this very difficult. I'm sorry. I can't rationalize this. It's not possible for me to. I've done the best I can by understanding that I can bring my wife back to life... with your help, willing or not. I don't want to do this, but I must." he closed his eyes in remorse, continuing to circle.

Shizuka's eyes opened slowly, finally waking up from her 'blackout'.
Shizuka, you're awake! Are you feeling better or... wait where are you going?!"
The shaman started walking back towards the conflict with Faust and Netsubo. For some reason, she felt like she was needed there...

*netsubo took out her thin wire...(yes, this is kinda like red ninja >.< ) she would have it ready just in case...though she didnt want to hurt faust*

Faust stood beneath the tree Netsubo was hiding in. He almost hoped that she was a better shaman than he was, that somehow he'd be defeated. He didn't want to put murder on a young girl's conscience, but who knew? Maybe he'd be killed, and get to join Eliza with a clean slate.
"You're doing it again!" Mehistophiles snarled. Faust flinched as the demon reattached his head. "You're thinking in human terms. She is a tool, not a child."
"She is a child," Faust breathed. "I might have had a child like her... I can't kill her."
"Were you planning on trying to take just a few drops of her blood?" Mephistophiles asked knowingly. "That's so like you. But it's not that literal. You need all of her blood for this to work."

Faust laughed weakly. "Why not?" he asked. "You should want to. I might have killed you just then." He seemed immensely relieved, instead of displaying the perhaps more appropriate degree of petrification.
"You do want to bring me back, don't you, Hans?" Mephistophiles asked. Suddenly, he wasn't a red-cloaked, fanged version of Faust anymore. He was Eliza, perfectly imitated to the point where even Faust wouldn't have been able to tell the difference if they were standing side-by-side. "Have you failed me, Hans my love?"
"Stop," Faust whispered. "It's OK if you look like me... it's OK if you do terrible things looking like me, but don't look like her. Please, take it off! Don't look like her any more!"

A half-dazed Shizuka stumbled into the area, observing the scene with horror.
Faust-san is in trouble again? Aww crap...
She blindly rushed to help, not even noticing the demons.

"Stay back, Shizuka!" Manta warned, seizing her wrist. "He's not himself."
But Faust was more himself than he ever was. Even though the others couldn't see the demon impersonating his dead wife, the vision was real and frightening.
Netsubo's knife was still held to Faust's throat. He thought with despair of leaping forward and ending his life himself, but he couldn't burden Netsubo with the knowledge that she had killed him. So he took a deep, shuddering breath, and told Netsubo in an increasingly more frantic voice as Mephistophiles' image became more and more disturbing.
"I wanted to fight Hao, but I wasn't strong enough. So I called upon the help of an old friend... oh, God," Faust choked as Mephistophiles/Eliza started to bleed from the forehead, "But he was not a friend. He controlled me, almost defeated Hao, and then made a deal with him. Stop it!" he cried, as Mephistophiles/Eliza's skin began to sag. "He wants you dead, and he thought that I would kill you if it meant my dream would come true. I wanted to see you live, but I loved her so much..." he covered his eyes and moaned as Mephistophiles/Eliza, invisible to the rest, began to decompose.

Faust shook his head restlessly. "Let me tell you about Eliza," he said quietly. "You might understand better if you knew..." he proceeded to tell Netsubo about his wife, her beauty, her gentleness, her kindness, if only to distract himself from the swarm of flies engulfing the now almost fully decomposed Mephistophiles/Eliza.
