Oh and I'm a freshman in serious need of help cause I need to get back into the competing group for band. We split into two bands tomarrow and the people in second band only get one chance to move up and I don't want to blow it. During the chair test that put me in second band I played it all correctly but didn't put in the dynamics which killed my chances because my BD said she would be looking for them and I had to play for her instead of our assistant band director who is much cooler and more lenient with his grading. Plus when I play for a grade or get called on in class to play alone I mess up alot but when I play with my section or the whole band I'm really good and sometimes play better than people chairs ahead of me. I also can't practice that often because I ride the bus and my bus has banned carrying large instruments onto the bus (large means can't fit in my lap) and my parents can't drive me because they have to leave early for work and afterschool I have UIL One Act practice now.

yeah well just carrying it on the bus is a problem cause sometimes the drivers switch routes and some are more strict about it than others and there is another trombone player on my bus and they take their horn home but they dont have a trigger so they have one of those really skinny cases that makes the rule irrelevant but my case is fat and afterschool i get a serious workout cause i help put the unit set up(heavy crap that we only have to move cause our fine arts building is also an old gym so little kids use it as a gym) so i usually end up being too tired to practice and i only have two weeks to practice so that i can get out of second band and into first giving me the ability to leave school for a day im screwed arent i cause i get to school about half an hour before the bell so not a whole lot of time and during the weekends i gotta teach this one idiot his lines for one act cause he cant say them(hes a junior french horn currently failing an easy class bcis) and i can(freshman takes honors has had college reading level since at least sixth grade) so most of us wonder how he got king creon

same kid, if you realy need to practus, and can't get the horn home, then try and just shadow practus ( you know with no insterment, but doing air, dynamics, pitches and posisions) with the music, then in your free time at school play the insterment. I am a collage kid who has to do that because of living situations, and it works real well. ^_^
