I just read this in the z!F:

Quote:
Didn't JK say they'd only be there to work on major bugs? Since he was removed from the zOMG team too.. and he was the last one on it.

I know I've been inattentive to the happenings of the game (since there seemed to be no happenings), but... what? Can someone update me?

Which half were you unaware of: that [ JK ] is no longer on the team, or that they'll actually be working major bugs? razz

Personally, I think it's probably for the best that they take a break from the focus on 'new stuff' to fix what we already have - that's what the game's needed for years, really.

"Both" to the first part.

Yay! It's bug-fixin' time.

For a very, very long time I felt like they were dangling the carrot of new-content in our face to distract us from all of the bugs and problems of zOMG. Granted, they were swamped with work, it wasn't like they didn't want to deal with it, but it still felt a little merrr. If this game were a person, I would say that he/she spent too much time running around trying to please everyone around him/her, and they forgot to take a little me-time to recover.

Edit: You know, this kind of makes that whole magazine-esque thing more far fetched than I thought it was. I now understand.

To be entirely fair, I think the notion of 'new content' was more out of necessity, than as a distraction; at worst, it was a distraction to the people doing it. You see, it's been years since we've had anyone but Artists working full-time on zOMG!; and unfortunately, Artists can't fix glitches. Therefore, the only way those Artists could justify their continued work on zOMG! was to work on new content - otherwise, they'd have been moved much sooner. I suspect the developers felt - and much of the community appears to feel likewise - that if zOMG! had no active developers, it would be considered 'dead'. It follows that new content was the only way to keep zOMG! 'alive', meaning they were only doing what they had to do. sweatdrop

I agree, though, that the game needs some 'me-time'; the situation under which it had to happen, though, is unfortunate. A lot of users are throwing around terms like "dead" and "shelved," implying that they've lost any hope that zOMG! will ever be developed-on again. If the developers had put the game on "maintenance mode" by choice, in order to repair the issues it's had, I doubt that feeling would be so prevalent; but the developers seemed to fear likewise that "maintenance mode" would mean "death" for zOMG!, and put all they could into avoiding it...

Oh my goodness.
I doubt any one here follows hockey...

Regardless, I'm so overwhelmed with excitement for playoffs I just had to share. I'M SO EXCITED.

Heheheheehe.

I seem to recall you playing it rather fast-and-loose with your definition of CC, no? sweatdrop

Hmm. No. Yes. Maybe. I think it's because I sometimes use it as a short for status effects...or do I? Not sure... ¯3¯

Anyway, one thing I'm sure of: alters your stats negatively == Debuff
Therefore, say, Fear's not a Debuff.

Guild's getting fat and lazy, I'm concerned. What to do? redface

Considering a couple of different threads at the moment, but I'm worried that no-one's around to respond anymore - which rather defeats the point, as I've already formulated opinions on my own ideas. Should I bother disturbing the silence, or just let the place sit quietly a bit more? sweatdrop

EDIT: No reply, but I suppose I'll post them anyway. '

Trying to start a 'Question-of-the-Day' feature in the Repository thread, to instigate a little more posting; the idea is to post vague or incomplete suggestions, such that users can come up with their own ideas for finishing them. Not altogether a success yet (though it certainly kept the thread active for the day), but I did start out with something of a weird one - I suspect it'll take time to reach a good balance between 'too vague' and 'too specific', but I'll keep trying.

I'll probably pull a few such topics out of suggestion threads in here, but I'm also open to direct suggestions from... Whosoever might be willing to give them... sweatdrop

"Kinda dead" is kinda accurate, yes. sweatdrop

Actually, though, I was stopping in here today in hopes of reviving Atrash's 'Style Guide' thread - I've been looking for ways to get people posting more ideas, and I thought a simple Guide to doing so might be a bit encouraging. I had always hoped that Atrash would do that himself - I do such a poor job of keeping up the Repository already, and he always had a better grasp on zOMG!'s style than I did, anyway - but that doesn't look exceedingly likely at this point. redface

Welcome, nonetheless! You picked a bit of a quiet time to join us, but we're certainly glad you're here regardless! 3nodding

You'd need people to discuss them too.

If you want people to do something you need to tell'em and convince'em of why...so why would they?
