"Okay. Gardevoir!" Tails said, and the boy clung to her side like glue. "We need someplace warm and rainy. And I know a place like that. Weather tower in Hoenn, do you know about it?" he asked.

"Gardevoir?" She thought back for a moment then something like that came to mind. There was a place always rained. "Gardevoir!" She then exclaimed. Apparently she does remember.

Tails nodded. "There's a lot of tall grass, which means lots of roots. And some strange Pokemon, I bet. It could be a little bit before I can sniff a good patch of mud out. So you can watch our backs, right?"

"Gardevoir!" Telia spoke up. She was now ready to go whenever the boys were.

Tristen only half-paid attention to that. He was trying to look up towards the Natu still perched up on his head. "Natu likes high places?"

"Natu natu."

"Oh. You do. Um. Are there any high places where we're going Tails?" Tristen asked.

"There usually isn't any lightning around that area," Tails said. He rubbed his chin as he thought about it. Since being with Blizz, he'd gone out into far regions dozens of times. During none of these stints did he see a flash of lightning in that route. "There's the tower. And some pretty tall fences. And trees. Gardevoir, when Tristen's ready, I'm ready. Do you like mud at all?"

"Gardevoir." Telia spoke up. She couldn't really say. She then dismissed the thought for the moment then looked over towards Tristen. "Gardevoir?"

"Oh. I think I'm ready." Tristen said walking over towards the Gardevoir.

With a nod, Telia focused then suddenly they vanished off across the land and made it all the way into Hoenn.

It was raining hard to say the least. Thunder boomed on a rare basis, but it was just more bark than bite for the moment. It was just rain. Rain. And more rain. The ground was soft, the grass was thick and seeming untraversable with its wet thickness. In the distance was the weather institute which was placed next to a large roaring waterfall, as the two boys would soon find.

The grass was so high to Tails, that he could not see over it. The path was perfectly clear, however and he set himself upon it for now. "I don't know too much about the Pokemon around here. They keep to the grass. I think they think it's safer that way. Could be there's a Pokemon that dug out some grass to make a mud hole for itself. What do you think, Gardevoir?"

"Gardevoir." Telia spoke up. She honestly didn't know all too well, though she was sensing a few things with her telepathic abilities. There were Pokemon around nearby. Something probably did dig out a mud hole, but then, she didn't fully know what Pokemon that were around here in the first place.

The Natu was wincing a bit as the rain poured down upon it. "Natu, Natu!" The bird chirped. Shaking hard occasionally to get the water out from its feathers.

"I don't think Natu is liking this too much." Tristen said.

"Does it know any kind of telekinesis?" Tails asked. "Rain is light. It should be easy to make a barrier, right?"

The boy had been sniffing the air, sniffing that he might smell something that wasn't grass or rain. The spoor of Pokemon was in the air, for sure. Some mammals. Rattata could easily build a hard den of grass and mud, and keep a litter safe from the rain. Further away, north, he heard a deep rumbling and decided that it came from a larger Pokemon. It was not a menacing rumble. It struck him as a sound he might make after gnawing on a juicy flank. An herbivore, perhaps. Whatever the case, there would be no mud in that direction.

Tails leaped into the tall grass and crawled south. He crawled in a way that the grass cushioned him, and would not split before him. It would also be too awkward for Tristen to follow close behind.

"Tails?" Bounded off after Tails, trying to make his way after the fox kid. "What are you doing? Why are you crawling around like that?"

"There's Tropius further north," Tails said, and cast a quick glance back. "They're heavy, so they wouldn't stick around a muddy area. That, and any sensible Pokemon won't live around Tropius."

Above him, a Zigzagoon bounded through the air from one grassy bank to the other. Tails stiffened for a moment. When he realized the scent wasn't threatening, however, he continued. "I wish they wouldn't do that."

Tristen stiffened up quite a bit too from the sudden appearance out of nowhere of the Zigzagoon. Unlike Tails, however, Tristen didn't know if it was hostile or not until the Zigzagoon ran off. "What was that all about?" He asked.

"It's a Zigzagoon," Tails said. "And we're strangers. I think it was just saying hi."

The boy continued his crawl, always thrusting one arm deep into the grass before him before pulling forward. Better to brush an unseen danger than to crawl into its mouth, he thought.

Underfoot, Tristen would eventually find a hollow structure of grass and mud and, if he wasn't careful, could easily step through it.

"Oh."

"Natu natu!" The bird on his head started to chirp.

"What?" Tristen looked down and took a step, feeling something not so solid under his feet. "Oh." Tristen started to make his way around, seeing if he could avoid a mudbath earlier than Tails intended on.

"NATUNATUNATU!"

"Wha-WOAH!" Without Tristen being able to see what was in front of him as he tried to make his detour, he fell through tall grass only to end up in a small pond. Natu fluttered up before Tristen fell all the way through and ended up all wet...rather, wetter than he had been from the constant rain and brushing up against the thick grass.

From out of the wall of grass peered Tails. He blinked down at Tristen, and grinned. "Didn't look where you were going, huh?"

Beside Tristen, a lilypad rose, revealing itself as a Lotad. It, too, stared at the boy. It spat a weak spout of water at him for his troubles.

"I couldn't se-AAACK!" The Lotad was right on in the face, moving away from the Lotad. "Heeey! That wasn-OW!" He then quickly got out of the pond as fast as he could get out, because these small waters were apparently volitile. As soon as he got back on solid ground for the most part, Tails would find a Feebas decided to make Tristen's tail its lunch.
