So, formless is supposed to give you flexibility and freedom that styles do not; at the cost of not being able to use complex techniques. You can pick a group of weapons ( ei: small weapons, medium weapons, strange weapons ), a subgroup of weapons ( ei: Knives, swords, fans, claws ), or even more specific than that-- a single weapon ( ei: Katana, bladed fan, bladed tonfa, etc. ). You start with one locked style, but there are ways to get more; either through an attribute ( such as the bloodline attribute Blood Bender ), a PA ( by sacrificing two slots ), or through an event. The maximum for locked styles, however, is two.

Leveling up Projectiles, you would get all of the projectiles, I believe. But I also do believe you can do "Projectiles: Ninja tools" and it would just include the ninja tools under projectiles, excluding the wire as wire falls under the "Small weapons" category. You can always try, and see what the mods say when you run it through approval; it's always okay to make mistakes. o v o

If you're looking at a style that might help you a lot with ninja tools, [ Honshi Art ] is an amazing style, one that I've thought of using plenty times.

As for the first half of your question, well I'll leave that to someone else who actually knows what they're talking about. xD;

So new question. What are the rules for puppet controls. I know that you have to learn Kugutsu no Jutsu (Puppetry Technique), andKuchiyose Kugutsu: Ichi (One), but when a genin gains their puppet, can they control a single puppet with their arm? This might not be coming out right but I want to make a prosthetic arm puppet like this character, Komushi, which was a character in naruto who used a prosthetic arm. Basicilly something smilar to a automail from full metal alchemist, except it would be controlled by chakra strings.

The answer to this question is in the post above techniques in the puppetry thread. It takes a whole hand for movements and a whole hand for actions at genin

Hey, I'm looking at all of my options and I stumbled across Hien. Now I've been molding my RPC towards Severing Steel Wires ie "near invisible steel string inlaid with diamond dust to easily slice through his opponents"

Now, with Hien, the technique states "Extends the edge of any chakra steel out by up to 50% of the edge's original length. Can be sustained for half-cost and made passive after the first post's usage."

What would constitute the edge? I know the quick answer would be the girth of the string (which frankly makes the combination useless) but since the whole of the string could be considered an edge, there's argument for it being length which would in turn makes this very useful for my purposes.

There is a revamp of the puppet system coming, but it shouldn't effect movement of individual puppets. As a D-rank character (not genin; that needs to be fixed), unless you have the Army of One discipline, requires both hands to control one [1] puppet. Then it takes one [1] hand to control a puppet at C-rank, and so on.

In order to activate a mechanism, punch, kick, etc, with a puppet, you pay chakra to do so. Puppeteers gain an innate Puppetry locked formless style to do this, and it ranks up with you unless you use slots to increase it early (in other words, you could do up to D-rank punches and kicks with a puppet at D-rank). This also allows them to use other formless styles the user knows through their puppet, up to the rank of the Puppetry style.

My Kiri character, Shadow, actually has a puppet arm like what you mention. Under normal circumstances, you would have to follow the above rules still, but he had a surgery done in Sunagakure that connected the chakra strings directly to his chakra network, allowing it to function as smoothly as a normal arm by sacrificing five [5] chakra permanently (for the chakra strings).

This would fall under custom puppets, and would require being able to use a puppet with one hand. But it is doable as long as you're a puppeteer class. It won't be something you can just start with, however, as we only allow basic weapons as a starting point.

Sorry for the wait! I've been on hiatus the last few days. As for your question, string, rope, etc, is typically round, not flat. As round objects do not have an edge, this wouldn't be doable. Now, if your character made or found a way to get 'flat' wire, you could extend the 'girth', as you mentioned, of the wire, but it seems that would be undesirable to you. Either way, I believe there are other techniques that can do what you're looking for, although I couldn't name them off the top of my head.

I mean, I could make a variant I guess, thanks for answering!

Is their a reason Hard Physical was removed from the formless style?

So these 8 customs that characters can have, can they start off with it or do they have to gain ranks to get access to them? And can they be anything we want, such as a few clan jutsu's that haven't been implemented into the game, such as the soap bubble release or is it strict on what can be a custom.

You have them available from the start. The only limitation is when it comes to custom weapons, those you can only get once you reach Chunin. Although you have to learn the custom jutsu IC of course.

What about tools. I am thinking of implementing my imperfect soap bubble release and I would like to use a Shabondama-yō Paipu[Bubble-Utilising Pipe]

I think that would fall under a custom weapon. Of course, you can always just get a regular pipe and have your custom jutsu require a blowing medium to be used. Please do note that as of right now custom weapons cost 2 custom slots as opposed to 1.

where would I find information on this? Should I not worry about it when creating a character?

You get those bonuses based on styles and other stuff you get both IC (such as certain items) as OOC (like via PAs) I know that Lanfaer or Tao can explain it better than I can.

just as a heads up, I think soap bubble is available under Suiton but it's high rank and eats 4 slots. Very versitile though

We don't actually know, but we're trying to find out. It seems that it might have been ghost-edited out but no one is confessing. I don't have a back-up of it either but as soon as I get one, I'll be putting it back in.

The Froggy Girl

All 8 custom slots are available from the start, but you can only use them for techniques up to the rank you're capable of learning [B-rank at D-rank, A-rank at C-rank, etc]. S-rank customs take 2 slots, and you cannot use customs for S+ rank techniques.

Also, Rin is correct. The Soap Bubble techniques are listed under S-rank Suiton as Shabondama no Ninjutsu, and takes 4 slots for all of its abilities. I think the Rokubi and its host are capable of using it too. Outside of that you could certainly use a custom item slot to make something similar to the pipe. However, you don't get your first slot until C-rank unless you're a weapon specialist. As Aegon said, custom weapons also take 2 slots.

Unless you get an increase to one of those stats from a discipline or PA, you don't have to worry about those to start with. It's just a place to keep track of any of your permanent passives, usually gained from Tai and Bukijutsu styles. You can have up to 12 Descriptive Ranks in each stat (2 rank increase). I thought the information had been put up regarding the stats, so I apologize for that. I'm working on giving it its own section in the Jutsu Information thread, so look for that sometime in the future.
