I actually know a few Americans who consider themselves Jewish Athiests. They aren't from Israel, their parents aren't from Israel, or anything like that. It's a growing idea. For me, it's the culture of the religion, the culture of Israel, the teachings, the people, the food. I just don't believe in God. It's a myth, as many other religions are considered to be, but Judaism is such an important thing for it to just die, especially in the wave of recent events, including the Holocaust. Judaism is such a wonderful thing, and I celebrate all the holidays, I attend high holiday services with a Chasidc synagogue in my area. They are very accepting, very nice people. I'm very strange, I guess, but it's what what I am.

Why do you bother going to shul on Yom Kippur if you have no belief in G-d?
I can understand the whole "keep Judaism alive" thing, but we believers have got that sorted, really. whee
And please don't state that G-d is a myth as if it's fact. It's very blunt and makes you appear rude, arrogant and ignorant, which I'm sure you're not.

Yeah, I am blunt. It isn't my intention to offend, but I don't sugar-coat my statements.
Still, I consider myself Jewish. And for me, it goes beyond belief and religion. It's just more of a cultural thing for me. If you don't feel I belong in a synagogue, fine. I'll still be going because I have a deep respect for Judaism.

I love how I'm off to such a great start here.

IRL Stuff - Hey, sup guys. Names Ben. I'm 17, and a senior at high school. I am from America (I won't be any more specific than that).

Gaia Info - I've been a member for a while now. 3 years, I think. I've been going on and off. I suck at making friends on here since the site is so big, and I'm always either extremely active for months or not active at all. So, hopefully I'll make some good friends here. That and I spent 20k on a guild I never use, which was pretty stupid of me, but it's only a site.

Occupation - I'm a student in high school and I'm a shadow for a student with a learning disability in a hebrew school. It's a tough job, but it's rewarding, depending on the student. Last year, I had this great girl, even made me a pencil holder. I loved her so much, she was great, but now I have this kid who's really a handful, and it's tough. He's really gross, but not much I can really do except be there by his side. He needs a lot more attention and so on, and he has trouble controling his emotions.
Hobbies/Interests - I play guitar, I like to read, I hope to be a writer someday, I play video games, and not much else. I don't really talk about myself unless it's something bad, since I feel like it's braging, even though it isn't.

Favorites - The Beatles is my fave band ever. They were brilliant. My favourite video game is No More Heroes. Really witty stuff in there. I have too many books and movies to really list here, but I adore Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It was absolutely mindbending.

Misc. - I'm also a Jewish Athiest, just so you guys know. I'd rather not talk about it here, that's a discussion for another day. My parents are also Israeli, and I can speak fluent Hebrew, but I'm still learning to read and write.

That's it really. I probably put in too many details, but it doesn't matter all that much now.

Welcome, mate!
Bloomin' interesting. But now you have to tell me how Jewish Atheism works. xd

Fine, fine.
Great Hebrew, chaver. Grammar was off once or twice, but I'm sure you noticed the same for me, right? Especially with Hebrew slang nowadays; Everyone's either speaking Tanakh Hebrew or Modern Hebrew and nobody knows what anyone's saying...
Great job. I seriously cannot wait to get actual Hebrew characters on the computer, though.

My grammar's bound to be off here and there since the only Hebrew I ever hear is at home and work. Plus, it's impossible with transliterations.
And honestly, I wouldn't know, since I barely know what I'm saying. XD

I'm not sure if you've learned a concept "lo lshma, ba lshma" But props to you and continue doing what you believe to be right.

That's the problem with Hebrew schools and why kids can barely even read and write in Hebrew. They don't understand it, and it's harder for them to read and write in a language they can't speak. It'd be easier to do that if you knew what it said, though.

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Anytime, btw you may want to check out "The Jew above me" and "make something up about the person above you" It's where most of us annoy each other in a familial way
