@ Catharia: just don't wear heels to the Big-Day of the Hitch, and you'll be fine! xd

Countdown 'til my wedding is on (3 weeks and 2 days O.o; ), and I'm keen to get tattooed before hand...anyone other than my partner think having new ink on both ankles a week before the wedding is a bad plan? xd

I always figured the best time to get tattooed was when you could relax for a couple of weeks while your skin healed. It'd suck if you got infections because you were running around with wedding and honeymoon plans.

Unless you do not wash daily and take care of yourself then you will be fine. Infections with tattoos are very very very very preventable. It's common hygeine.

Well, that just proves I've never gotten a tattoo before. I really want one, but I'll probably never get one. razz

Oh why not? I'm addicted, but if only I had the money...

Yeah. My friend got both shoulders tattooed at the same time. She had to work the next day. Not good.

When I got my tattoo I had to go to school the next day, but it was the last day so it wasn't so bad.

It just got annoying showing everyone because my clothes kept rubbing it.

I have drawn several tats for other people, but I can't decide on one for myself. It's too big of a commitment. I used to play with henna, back in my hippie-ish days. It's harder to find now around my area, as the only things you find around here easily are current fashion, preppy, or country-western crap.

I don't even think our Hot-Topic is real. It's a knock-off. They have 12 styles of shoes, 3 styles of corsets, a few random pants, a foot-long 6 inch deep shelf of metallic hair dye and nail polish, vintage stickers, and T-shirts. It pisses me off.

Part of it's religious, part of it's just that I don't know where on my body won't sag and stretch and turn a tattoo into a grotesque streak when I'm 80. And part of it is that I don't identify with symbols the way most people do. The cross holds no significance to me, nor does the Star of David, and while Kanji is very elegant, I'd feel a bit of a poser getting a Japanese tat before I could even order tea in the language. xd

sadly, that's all Hot Topic is in most places... if you find a big one you might get lucky enough to see Vinyl Records available, but the store itself is nothing more than a franchise designed to make a quick buck off of the Punk Rock lable without actually being Punk Rock. once the actual Punks saw that the stuff they loved became mainstream, they simply stopped buying at Hot Topic, so the scene kids came in and took their place. this caused a slight shift in merchandise, to reflect the superficial fad-based hipster takeover of the idea of being Counter-Culture. sad enough, but meh.

actually, the employees at HT tend to be pretty awesome folks, a bunch of Punks and Rockers and Goths! xd but they themselves also acknowledge that they dislike the general majority of customers they see.

Yeah, I have never met a douche-bag employee there. It's sad that the folks that offer the best customer service get railroaded to such a poser store, when the places that tout "Superior Customer Service" only seem to get douche-bags. I love non-conformists, and everyone else should too.

I pretty much only go Hot Topic for my Halloween costumes anymore though.

I love the nail-polish at Hot Topic. They have great colors for cheaper than Walmart, and it's available year round--not just in October.

That why I got mine on my shoulders, upper arm, lowerback and the next two are going on my ankles. I do wish someone had warned me about the whole 'tramp stamp' shebang though...I don't regret the tattoo, just it's placement >.>;
If you're worried about stretch stay away from 'fluctuating' areas, like the stomach, breasts, and bum. My tattoos include such things as a tribal butterfly, dragons, and a miander (greek key). The new two will be a paw print and a cat/cleft glyph This one smile in honour of my violin-playing cat-hood. Cat and the fiddle anyone? xd

@ Chief - luckily for me my heels have straps that completely miss the area being tattooed wink

I love tattoos...but I'm running out of 'good' places to put them sad Anywhere below mid-bicep, and above shoulder is off-limits. Used to be below knee too, but veterinary proffessionals seldom run about with no shoes on. wink

I eat nachos and watch TV. I tried it the other way around, but, you know, nachos are boring to watch.

I heart Hellboy.

I just saw Into the Wild for the first time.

Truly remarkable.
