"Yes! That's what I saw." Gray pounded his fist on the table. "And this guy was, like, evil and stuff." The very word ignited a firestorm in his brain. You would know...
"I don't think he gave a name... I felt like I should know it, though." Gray rubbed his head. "Uggh... I think I need some food." He took a bite of the omelet and swallowed. "Oh... that's good."

He gestured with his fork. "And then this guy said something crazy... He told me to tell you something." He took a drink of his water. "Why he knocked me out to tell you that I don't know."

Lilith picked at the food on the plate in front of her, but did not eat it. This whole thing had made her very nervous for some reason or another. And when he mentioned the man wanted Gray to tell Lilith something, her became pale. "What did he say?" Her voice was slow and uneasy. She could feel goose bumps forming all over her skin.

Gray rubbed his head. "He... he said something about your sister..." He flopped his head back. "Oh, what was it!"

He looked at Lilith. Deep into her eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't think-"

It hit him. "Your sister... she's not dead! She's not!" Everything hit him. "The man's name was Vain and that demon is with Lev! It all makes sense! All those random images!"

He grew quiet and remote. He took a bite of the omelet, and it tasted like cardboard. He didn't have anything against cardboard, so he took another. "But... that means... that one girl... and the beast. Who was that?" He tapped his chin. "And the girl passed out... and, uh, the guy ran... here? Or some other diner?" He jumped forwards. "The girl is at her house! And the demon was there too but he left! We have to find them..."

He looked at the tasteless food. "What am I saying...? We can't... it had to be a dream... but the demon is real! So all the other stuff... maybe it is too!"

"GRAY! Slow down!" She frowned as she watched him bounce around in all different place. Her head was spinning. "What demon, and what girl? And What do you mean about my sister not being dead?" She was a white as a sheet by this point. "It's you're trying to be funny, I really rather wished you would stop. Because in all honesty, it isn't." She stood slowly from the table. "So either you need to slow down and explain things to me clearly, and quite playing around, or I'm leaving."

Shane ponders for a moment, and then smiles as he voices what is on his mind. "You know, working for a teacher definitely comes with benefits. I can have you excused from all the work that you've missed. I can just tell your professors that you've been assisting me with an experiment. I'm in pretty good standing with the general staff of the campus, so such a thing isn't entirely impossible."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gidget smiles politely as she chimes, "You can count on it. Thanks for listening to what I had to say. Goodnight Mrs. Smith."
Gidget steps away from the door and strolls down the sidewalk. She looks around to make sure she isn't within eye shot of Mrs. Smith. Confident that she will go unnoticed, Gidget reaches into one of her pockets and pulls out what looks like a small drill. The device is no larger than a thumb tack. She runs around to the side of Trinity's house that her bedroom is on.
With all the strength she can put into her small frame, she throws it at the siding right beside Trinity's window. The device activates mid-air and bores into the siding almost silently. It goes in a bit further until it's head is the only thing left exposed. The head then detaches from the base with two small wires going between them. Making a U-turn, it attaches itself to Trinity's window. Just by the frame.
Gidget makes it back to her hidden suit a few moments later and hops inside of it. The seals enclose around her. The cloak is still in place as she settles in. She notices again how comfortable it is to be in the suit, almost unnaturally. A small display comes up before her eyes. In it she can see into Trinity's bedroom, as well as hear from the vibration of the glass. The curtain is drawn shut, Gidget isn't surprised. All she can hear is the rhythmic pacing of a sleeping person. Gidget smiles, not even considering how angry Trinity might be if she spots the spy bug. She closes down the display and shuts her eyes. It doesn't take long for her to fall asleep standing inside of her suit of armor.
"I'm an art and sociology major," laughed Annie. "Doesn't the fact an art major assisting a biology professor strike you as odd? It'll bring more questions than it is worth."
Sighing she nimbly, moved off the bed and began to pace, "Also, I don't want my projects waved. I don't want special treatment. I had enough of that in school back home." She sighed. "And now with the whole thing with the meteor shower... God, I feel so stupid... I'm complaining and being selfish whenever there are a whole lot worse matters to worry about."
Growing more serious she said formally, bowing her head, "If you so wish to have me continue taking all of my classes this semester, I will, though, Mr. Morris. I was able to get through a semester after the incident with the meteor, I'm sure if it is best I could manage..."
The group had wandered out into the field, the only ones along the long dead landscape, strange beings alone in their strange world.
The bodies, eight in total, still brimmed and crackled with electricity, the corpses marred beyond words. Some jittered, still feigning life. Rod walked over to one of the men, face half burnt to a crisp.
"Wh-why..wh-why.." the man moaned, Rod making faces at him, "Wh-wh-wh-why?" Rod said in a high voice, smiling as he stepped over the man. Rod through a fist down into the gent's chest.
A dull thump, and the dying mutant dissappeared into an instantaneous six foot hole in the ground, the dirt just now catching up with itself, falling in over the corpse.
Lev laughed hysterically at this, but then growled loudly, dog-like and vicious. "We need their strength Rod my boy." Lev wandered past Blitz, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder as he strode to another downed victim.
This charred figure was a female, not nearly as badly burned as the others. "G-get back.." She whispered, ice forming over her fingers, her breath growing frigid. "Now now.." Lev gave wide sad eyes, crumpling his own hand softly over her own, cupping it as if they we're long lost lovers, a Shakespearean play ending. "I'm sorry bout this lass. But this is the way life is.."
Lev seemed to loosen his features, his eyes slightly watering, or so it would seem, ice billowing and entwining around her own fingers and his. His skin was beginning to turn a slight shade of blue, but Lev seemed not to care, only gently combing his hand through the dying woman's hair.
Lev began to sing, soothing and strong, "Here's to you, I sing for my daddy-o...As I lay 'em down, to sleep.. The woman began to cry, Lev's breath icy as he brought his lips down to her black forehead, kissing it softly. "Been so long...Since I lost my daddy-o.. Hope he's watchin', over me."
Leviathan stopped singing, only listening to the still air, the soft sobbing and hitching of the woman in his lap real, earthly, even true. Or at least, the truest truth Lev knew. Rod stared on with Blitz, both shifting uncomfortably.
Lev then violently grabbed her by the scalp, rustling his fingers deep into her hair, her screams forever cut short, lightning firing and snapping and popping as flesh parted and burned and charred until there was no corpse left, only ash and..
Lev grinned, holding up glowing powder from the corpse's remains, a sickening glow gilding off of and away from the crystalline matter. "Pure un-refined whatever it is." Lev smiled, whistling toward One. "My good sir. I think this is the stuff. Ya reckon?" Lev touched some of it to his tongue, seemed to favor the taste, then began swallowing the strange substance in an almost maniacal frenzy.
Shane stands up and places his hands on her shoulders confidently, "Those matters can wait until morning. As far as your courses go; you do what you feel is right for you. I'll have your back either way. Anyways, it's late and we both need to get some sleep. Have a good night Annie."
Shane releases her shoulders and walks toward the exit. He presses the panel that opens the door. He starts to walk through but stops as though he has forgotten something. "Oh. and if you don't start calling me Shane I'm going to have to reprimand you."
"Very well," Annie said, flopping down on the bed she looked over at him and batting her eyes innocently. "You know I'm not scared of your reprimands. Anyhow, it is a cultural habit, can you hold my Southern upbringing as a lady against me? Everyone is 'sir' and 'ma'am' and 'Mr' and so on, unless you know them forever... Hell I still call my Dad 'sir' on occasions."
"Your right though, we'll discuss things in the morning, including how to proceed about Mr. Cortez," she said, yawning. "Well I'm going to sleep, wake me up whenever I need to get up, okay?" Rolling over she yawned again and closed her eyes, not even bother to get under the covers, and planning to sleep in the clothes she was wearing. (That way, she reasoned, when she had to get up she didn't have to bother to get dressed).
Shane chuckles, the idea of working with her worrying him somewhat. Not in a bad way necessarily, just that his sanity may not be able to handle it. "Will do, see you in the morning."
Shane slides her door closed and retires to his own room next door. He falls into the bed, also not bothering to take his clothes off. He wonders what Gidget is doing right now, what schemes she's got brewing in that head of hers. He gradually falls asleep, dreaming of when they used to play as children.
"I... I..." Gray calmed himself down. "It all makes sense. Sorry. Was I babbling?"
He rubbed his eyebrows. "No, this guy... some guy named Vain... He said your sister wasn't dead. And I think we should believe him." He took a deep breath. "And there's a lot more to tell now."
Alias looked distraughtly towards the glowing ectoplasm -like substance Lev was shoveling into his mouth. His nose curled upwards in distaste. "I suppose so." He murmured. "Are you sure there isn't a safer way to go about ingesting it?"
Rolling his eyes Alabaster laughed rather flatly. “Ma’am, people only come to this place for two reasons. Although, there might be more reasons these two are the most prominent. The first reason is because of the gang activity in the area, it makes this place a nest for illegal activity. Now, from what I can tell about you, you do not appear to be the type who would be interested illegal activities.” Sitting up he glanced around and crossed his legs, his hands resting comfortably in his lap.
“That, only leaves us with the second option, you are lost.” His voice came out rather fact of matterly, he didn’t know why it came out as such but it simply did. Glancing over at the woman he shot her a coy smile. He could only hope that she would be able to keep him entertained long enough. “But, if you say that you can take care of yourself than maybe it is not any of those reasons. Maybe you simply came here out of nostalgia, if that is the case...” He spoke his voice trailing off as he felt his cell phone vibrate.
Pausing for a moment he shook his head. It was his informant he knew that much, but he simply did not want to talk to him at the moment. Extending his hand towards the young woman he laughed, this time rather jovial and full of life. “If you’d like to know, my name is Alabaster, Alabaster Gravehart.” He spoke softly to make sure that no one else would be able to hear him. After all, you never know when people might be around.
Her offer was for company, to simply keep her company. Biting his bottom lip he began to chew on it. It was a simple enough thing, one that would more than likely cost him a fare share of his jobs for the rest of the week, but, he didn’t care. To him, women always seemed a better source of entertainment. They were often seen as a commodity to some of those he dealt with. Licking his lips he gave a half smile. Yes, this would be well worth it.
Leviathan stopped eating the glowing ooze, huffing and puffing as steam rose from his flesh, his skin beginning to heat, contracting off plumes of hot air.
Lev's power was increasing exponentially, and this certainly wasn't a good thing for anyone.
Lev sniveled, slinging his backpack off. "Rod, try some with your finger, then scoop the rest into the Helix." Lev pointed to the bomb, which he had recently dubbed the double edged 'Helix', a metaphorical DNA blade to the foolish few mutants who dared stand against him.
Rod held one steel finger down, almost caressing the strange substance. Rod brought it to his nose, sniffed it, recoiled. "I think'll just scoop it in.."
Lev gave him a blank stare, "Suit yourself." Lev looked to Blitz, a silent but confident stare back as always, then to Alias.
His eyes grew into slits now, suddenly chilled and aggressive. "You ain't shown one ounce of nothin'. You've no stomach partner?" Lev stepped forward, electricity, now almost crimson in tint, running along his arms. Lev had increased in power dramatically, and he seemed to surge with energy, flashes of bright black lightning spiraling his forearms down to his fingertips. "I can smell it. The fear. Deep knitted in your ghostly a**..I think it's time your friend came back and you two learned something.."
Lev tapped a button on the side of the Helix, and suddenly a sharp thrum began to stab the air, dragging at Alias and his alter ego, driving at them, a literal shock collar to their senses.
Vain would have to appear soon, or risk insanity from Lev's Helix..
"Once touched by it's vibes, he'll just have to come back." Lev spat on the ground, patting Alias on the shoulder, who no doubt would be cringing in agony, "Let's hope he's in a better mood, for your sake.."
"Gray, I saw them put her in the ground. And as much as I would like to believe you, I can't until I see her with my own eyes." Lilith sighed softly. "Thanks for the food. And all, but I really should get home and patch up that window now." Her voice was soft and sad. She really didn't want to be alone again, but Gray had suddenly starting acting very strange, and she didn't much like it. She stood and smiled at him. "Will I see you around?"
That only leaves us with the second option. You are lost. His voice came through more as a statement then a question, causing Lily to look up at the man her eyes wide. Was it really that obvious she was lost? She though she'd played off that card well, but from the looks of it; that wasn't the case. So Lily did what she knew best, she smiled sweetly, folding her hands together in her lap.
"You caught me. I did get myself lost." she sighed, looking at her hands now. "Nice to meet you, I'm Lily." she grumbled under her voice, she was beginning to feel a bit.. uncomfortable around Alabaster, like he was hiding something, which brought up her next question "What's your reason for being here? I know it isn't because you saw me, because I'm not in a spot that would of been easily spotted. So as you said, illegal activity, or lost?" She smiled again, her brown eyes almost gleaming at the man.
What the hell do you take me for? Some sort of dummy? she thought briefly to herself as she placed her feet firmly to the ground, her hands still holding onto the rails of the merry go round. So much for a nice quiet night to rid her thoughts.
