Erron scratched his head momentarily "I honestly dont know Kal, remember, I wasn't given any details on the shrine either as the dwarves had decided not to check it out and just headed straight for Haven."
He stood for a moment and stretched yawning "We've been walking for a while now, and I guess this is as safe an area as any to take a rest? Just....perhaps we shouldn't feed the squirrels like we might normally..."

"You normal feed the squirrels?" Tjaden asked, arching an eyebrow and sparing Erron a glance. Apart from that momentary lapse, Tjaden was keeping a adamant vigil on the magical fog. He didn't trust anything about it, not even the squirrels.

((Oh joy...Now a fireball hits everything regardless of where aimed... )) Selce wasn't sure what had made the fog but was quite sure it wasn't natural. It was alive with energy but seemed to have a weight to it that seemed to exude pressure on her thoughts. "I'm not sure I like this place." She admitted wondering if they could leave soon.
She studied the statue thoughtfully careful to watch the squirrels nearby. "Who would have created such a statue?" She thought aloud.

Brurag grinned and laughed immensely. A city of squirrels! How entertaining! He carefully inspected them with one devilish thought on his mind. "Can I kill 'em?" He mouthed to the rest of the group with his hands cupped around his mouth, just incase the squirrels were smart.

Tjaden frowned at the other Orc, but refrained from making judgment. Though the inference was to an evil act, it may be that rather than being evil, the other Orc was simply vulgar and morbid, neither of which were unlawful. Tjaden began collecting dead wood for a fire, his eyes alert watching the squirrels as they chittered around the party.
As he went about the simple task, Selce's question repeated in his mind. When he drew close to the others again, dry wood in his arms, he spoke. "You were certainly right about this being a strange place, Erron. A strange place indeed."

Erron looked amongst the squirrels "Its almost as if its a miniature village here....is that possible?"
He stood up and went to inspect the Statue as well, it seemed very intricately designed, perhaps the sculptor left a clue as to who he was in the same way many painters were known to.
"I wonder if it is magical?"

As Erron neared the statue, it remained silent and unmoving, just as before.
Perhaps if someone closer to nature were to touch it, it might trigger a reaction.

As they traveled on Laren's expression was a mask, howver as they reached the "City of Squirrels" as her party members were calling it Laren began grinning ear to ear. Never before had she seen such a large concentration of the furry tailed animals and she enjoyed the sight. When Burag suggested killing them Laren shot him a death glare, "No killing of the animals!" she said forcefully.
At that momment Zeus seemed to droop because of the order, he saw the small rodents as food only and realized he was not allowed eating them.
The statue drew Laren's interest away from blood lusting orc before she could think of a sutable punishment for even thinking of harming the animals. So she walked up and inspected it much like the Monk of the group, touching it to find out what it was made of.

Brurag sneered at the little squirrels, causing them to scramble away in fear, but he did not kill them. It wasn't worth having to kill the elf, if she tried to defend them, and then having to deal with whoever in the party angrily assaulted him.
As he walked off a bit, bored as one could be, he mumbled under his breath "Elves..." with frustration and annoyance. If there was one race he couldn't stand more than stereotypical human it was the stereotypical elf. He couldn't stand those nature loving, tree hugging fools. They were arrogant and understood nothing of true honor and glory.
He remembered the ancient tales his mother told him when he was very young. It was a tale of the war between orcs and elves back when orcs first appeared in this land. Neither side won in the end, it simply ended in a bloody stalemate and many forests burned. What the elves and humans both would never understand about a true orc was that they weren't afraid of dying and that death on the battlefield was the highest honor, the greatest way to die.

Upon touching the statue, Laren's mind became alight with energy. A voice echoed in her head, one that was somewhat high-pitched however maintained an air of authority.
"Well hello there, guardian of the forest! It is good to see one of your kind so far from your homeland."
The statue seemed to come alive with this proclamation. It shed its stone shell and revealed the very same image as it was depicted: A large squirrel, garbed in chainmail and a cloak, wielding a staff.
"I am pleased that none of you harmed my children, lest my wrath would have been brought upon you. And yes, judging by the inquisitive expressions you bear, I am aware that I am a giant squirrel. I suppose introductions are in order for most aside from my friend, the ranger, here."
The giant squirrel hopped down off of his pedestal and took a deep bow.
"I am Kernell, Herald of Celandril, The Earth Mother. For those unaware, she is the mate of Kirith Angmar, The Watcher, the supreme god of all elvenkind. Now, granted, I am merely an avatar of myself, as my heavenly body could not be sustained on this plane, as any other deity, however I am here because of two reasons. The first is to bestow a task upon you, Laren Verens. The Earth Mother wishes you to bond with your feathered ally in a deeper manner than what you are accustomed. I will teach you how to go about this. My second, and ultimately more important mission, is to inform as many who will listen that this war that grips the lands was pre-orchestrated. There are forces still at work attempting to fuel and feed this war to provide a distraction for something far more sinister that has not yet become apparent."

When the voice first resonated in her mind, recognition sparked and caused the elf to jump back and take a knee before the avatar of the herald of her goddess. She only looked back up and stood agian once he spoke her full name. However the mentioning of a task to become more in twined with Zeus sparked both of their interests, causing them to look at one another curiously.
The elf did not voice her curiosty out right however, she wanted to give her allies time to speak with the herald. Afterall what was her gaining some unknown power in comparison to the fate of the world and the will of her goddess?

Selce stared in happy amazement. She studied the so called avatar of Kernell. "We had suspected such a thing before this, but that confirms it. Is there any other information you may give us about what's happening?" She asked trying to get a grip on the situation.
She was quite thrilled at seeing such a magical spectacle, even if of a divine sort and not the kind she summoned to her will. She would , if she was allowed, like to study the process by which Laren would get closer to Zeus. her curiosity of such things overiding most other thoughts.

"No, young mage. We of the pantheons cannot discern who is behind the war that grips the lands or why they do so, as they have acquired some means to defend against divine intervention. This has required us to rely on mortal means to stop whomever is attempting to cause this chaos."
The avatar turned to Laren once more. "I ask of you to concentrate, have your companion rest upon your shoulder and place your palm onto one of the nearby trees. When you have done this, if the Earth Mother deems you worthy, your forms will merge into one spirit and grant you access to the Plane of Earth. While in this plane, you and your companion must travel southwards, I cannot tell you what you will see, however you must investigate whatever you find and acquire something from the journey to this location. When you have, it will impart its own knowledge to you as well as send you back to this world. As for the rest of your group, they may rest comfortably, as this glade is well-protected by the Earth Mother."

"What power is so strong that it can blind even the gods?" Tjaden breathed in disbelief. He was a little shaken that a statue had sprung to life, a little petrubed that it was a giant squirrel, flabbergasted that it was a avatar and completely blown away at the suggestion that the power of the gods themselves was being challenged.
He would wait for the avatar to finish with Laren. He wanted to know if they could find any proof of this pre-orchestration. If they could find even a shred of evidence and bring it to Beremond's attention, it could lessen the enmity between the humans and orcs, perhaps even uniting them against a common enemy.

Erron looked rather calmly at the spectacle, enough strange things have happened within the last three days, A giant talking squirrel avatar of a god seemed to be rather ordinary compared to waking up in a dungeon, fighting off a troll, divine intervention crushing enemies, skeletons, wraiths, Bone Golems and the other events that have been alternately plaguing and assisting them, Erron chose to hold his questions to the avatar until they were done with the person whom they seemed to have waited specifically for, he had some suspicions but did not know deity history well enough to articulate his question.
