Richard too had been thinking about taking on an extra job. And with Damian's proposition to Lorey, he was more than grateful. Lorey wouldn't have to take some low job where she would be treated like trash again. That just wouldn't do.
Raquel looked up to Damian, smiling a little. He never ceased to amaze her. He always talked about what a cad he had been, selfish and cruel almost, but since she'd known him, he'd never been any of those things. If anything, he seemed to get better by the day.

Damian smiled. "Please do. Everything is done from my office, so you'll never have to leave home. You could start doing things whenever you like, really. Just let me know when you start and end, and I'll pay you. Details later, of course, since it's so late..."
Lorey could only nod and blush slightly. So much luck on her part... what had she done to deserve it?

Raquel was glad everything was working out for the couple. She tossed her yogurt container into the trash, coming to give Lorey a hug. "See? Good things happen to good people..." she smiled as she stretched a bit. "Though, I think I'm happied out...I'm going to go chill or sleep or...something..." She said a bit awkwardly, glancing to Damian to catch her drift.
"I'm just glad you two are happy..." She said a bit gentler, as she looked from Richard back to Lorey again.
Richard nodded his thanks and understanding as she walked over to pick up her bags from shopping earlier. "So...I'll see you guys tomorrow..." She smiled, saying her goodnights, before giving Damian one of her 'looks'. "And I'll see you in a bit?" She asked, though this was more casual and general than anything suggestive.

"Be there in a few minutes, love," he said, truly not knowing if she was suggesting anything or if she wanted to get started on her books. He did promise that he would help her with her reading, even if he knew it might be frustrating.
Lorey waved good night with her words still ringing in her ears. Good things happen to good people... but then bad things happen to good people too, she thought. Look at all of them. Poor Richard. Poor Raquel. Damian she had issues with on a few levels, even if he was redeeming himself.
But, she couldn't be hard on him.
"Are things alright?" she asked, not knowing just how good they really were. Damian developed a goofy grin, and nodded simply.
"Yes, things are great. We went shopping, came home..." And he just trailed off, not saying just what they did when they came home.

Raquel dragged the bag of books to her room, dumping them out on her bed so she could get a better look. She started off by pulling out one of the books on music she got. It even had a few sheets of score on it. She bit her lip looking back at her old guitar, leaning against the window sat. She sat down, and picked it up, rubbing it affectionately. "I sure will miss you girl.." She said softly, rubbing the old beaten wood. She laid the book down next to her, turning on a near by lamp. Sheets of music, she knew she could read. It was something she was pretty good at when living with her mistress. Before she began reading however, she made sure her baby was in tune, even strumming out a pretty little song as she waited for Damian.
Richard shrugged a little taking an extra carrot stick lying on the counter. "Well by the way things looked when I got home, I'd say you two are doing just fine..." He laughed, munching away on the veggie.

"Damian..." Lorey had an awkward little grin on her face, but he just started waving his hands and backing away.
"We're fine! Nothing wrong, everything's taken care of..." and with that, he gave a quick good night and sped off to the room. Upon his approach he could hear sweet music.
Not wanting to interrupt, he stood at the doorway, just listening. She really knew how to play...
Lorey looked to Richard, blushing. "Well then."

Raquel started to improvise, just pouring her heart out into the guitar, like she had growing up. her only solace away from the real world when things got really tough. She even started to hum along with herself, not really having any words for her own creation as of yet. She seemed to trail off though, like she usually did when she was too busy thinking and playing at the same time. it always ended up distracting her.
Richard just chuckled to himself, taking a bottle of water. "Cheers to Damian, for finally managing some alone time...." He said, mostly to himself as he barely raised the bottle, before drinking a few gulps.

When there was a slight break in the song, Damian poked his head in the door. He was so sure up until that point that he'd seen Raquel at her finest, but he'd been proved wrong: there she was, in her underwear and wearing his shirt with the guitar on his bed, surrounded by books and concentrating on her passion.
That was beauty. That was gorgeous.
Still he didn't say anything, not wanting to interrupt, just wanting to listen.
Lorey disregarded that. She wasn't about to make herself feel terrible again because she wasn't about to make him happy in that way.
"Two hundred credits... what am I going to get?" she asked, showing him the card. "And what did you get? It looked very nice, whatever it was."

Raquel looked down at the sheet music near her. She wanted to try to learn to play something of someone elses work from paper instead of just her own random creations. Squinting, she scanned the page, a sadness setting in. She held her guitar, balancing the book on her knee, slowly trying to strum out the melody but having difficulty. She finally picked up the book, bringing it close to her face, squinting until she raised an eyebrow as if in an 'aha' moment. She then played a few bars of a pretty little song, before having to pick up the book, still close to her face again, a little frustrated but not giving up. Finally it hurt her eyes too much and she dropped the book with a sigh, finally just noticing Damian. "Ah, I'm sorry, how much of that did you endure?" She asked, turning slightly red, slipping the strap from around her, and laying the guitar back down.
Richard smiled, picking up the little box again, pulling out the watch, which seemed to glitter evening the dim light. to show Lorey. "Nice ate? Damian's got good taste..." He said witha nod.

He slipped next to her on the bed, having a look at the sheet music. He knew how to play piano, but was out of practice...
"You sounded good to me," he said, leaning back to rest on his back. The ceiling had an inlaid design on it, and was rather beautiful. Perhaps he would have appreciated it more if he wasn't so preoccupied with other things.
"Practice makes perfect, after all."
"It's beautiful..." She wiggled the engagement ring next to it, liking the subtle glitter of what she had much more than the glitter of the shimmering watch face. "Will you wear it often? You should, if you're taking a delivery job."
Lorey yawned a little, but shrugged it off. There were times before when she had to stay awake for longer periods of time, and felt like she was spoiling herself by letting herself sleep the way she did.

Raquel furrowed her brow. "Damian, can you read that?" She asked, holding the book towards him. "Like, right here, this looks like a 16th note...but that can't be-" She brought it closer to her, frowning. "See, it's an eighth note...how can you tell that?!" She seemed flustered, rubbing her eyes. "Its...printed to small...or something...." She mumbled to herself, pushing her hair back.
"Of course, I never really had a watch that lasted me too long anyhow..." He noted, smiling as he tried it on. It fit his wrist just fine, and he was more than satisfied with it. "Ah...that reminds me...Speaking of jewelry..." He looked down at his left hand. The tarnished old wedding band was still where it had always been. Only coming off the one time he tried to give it to Lorey to pawn off for herself. But now it was time for it to come off for good. "...I still love you...but it's time to move on..." He whispered quietly, kissing the ring gently, before placing it on the counter. "I'm your's Lorey....and I always will be..." He said with not a trace of sadness except in his eyes, most likely remembering saying that to Rose once. But he knew this was for the best.

Damian watched her curiously, and suddenly got an idea.
"Raquel, do you think you have dyslexia?" he asked, looking at the sheet music. It wasn't that she couldn't recognize the symbols, but that something wasn't right with her vision, he thought. Perhaps Raquel had that sort of disability, and they could find some way to deal with it.
Lorey watched him remove the ring carefully. At first she wasn't sure what was going on, perhaps thinking that he was going to wash his hands and didn't want it slipping off, but remembered that he never took off the ring. The last time he had, it had been forced into her grasp after every loose bit on his being was practically thrown at her. He had wanted to give her that ring... and now he was setting it aside.
Her blue eyes went from the ring, to his face, back to the ring and once more to his face looking utterly confused, and perhaps a bit hurt.
"Richard, you're not going to... stop wearing it, are you? You're not getting rid of it, are you?" Her voice sounded a bit frantic as she looked into his eyes for an answer.

Raquel furrowed her brow. "I'm not really sure...M'lady thought something was wrong with me, mentioning that...I didn't and still don't really know what that means...but..." She shook her head. "It's just the words sometimes..." She furrowed her brow embarassed. "They get fuzzy. they go out of focus, but i can see them fine sometimes..." She explained, hugging her arms. "My mistress, m'lady, she taught me to read, so I know I can...it's just..." She heaved a sigh. "Sometimes I can read them...just fine." She pulled the book close to her, flipping through it. "Like...they're just a little fuzzy but i can read them..." She seemed so angry with herself for being so inadequate. Reading was a basic skill everyone could o, and she knew she could, she jstu had trouble with the books themselves...
"All it is, is a weight love. A heavy chain on my heart that's been holding me down for too long..it's time to let myself live my life again..." He smiled a little to himself, feeling as if Rose were smiling at him at that moment.

Damian snapped his fingers suddenly, like he'd just solved the greatest mystery of them all.
"You need glasses!" he proclaimed. "You should probably see an eye doctor... they can give you contacts or glasses if you want. And those will make everything clearer."
He looked up at her with positive eyes, hoping that she wouldn't be so frustrated now that a solution was in store.
"So you're not doing this for me?" Lorey kept asking questions, not knowing how else to express herself in such a tizzy. "You're doing this purely for yourself, this is all settled within your heart and you're alright with it?" Her white hand reached out to take his firmly in her own, even if she nearly fell off the counter in her reach.

Raquel blinked a few times, cocking her head. Could it really be that simple? She said nothing, looking back down, grabbing another book. She squinted, scanning the page. "Am...I really stupid enough not t get that?" She sighed, shaking her head, embarassed. "Maybe it was because I knew m'lady couldn't afford something like that...well she might have, but I wasn't one to complain..." She furrowed her brow. bu smiled, shaking her head. "I'm glad your more level headed and smarter than me sometimes..." She said sweetly, touching his face frowning again. "...I can see you just fine..." She bit her lips, standing up and moving across the room. "And still from here! I can't pick out detailed like the beauty mark you have on your shoulder there...its really small, but I can usually see it..." She explained walking back over, kissing the spot it was on for proof.
Richard nodded. "I had been thinking about it since the day you gave my ring back...I thought about it as I considered proposing, then again as i was doing so,and ever since then...it's the right thing..." He smiled, feeling good about his decision.
