Lore pulled Silvrendir's shirt off, which of course turned it inside out, so Lore had had to put it right side in once more before turning it to the way it was suppose to be. Then with one swift move he put it back on Silrendir the right side facing.
"Now your wings can fit through," he murmured.

Silvrendir's head popped through the top of his shirt and he manipulated his wings through the holes in the back. Once they were through, he stretched them out then folded them again, then grinned up at Lore.
"Thank you, Daddy," he said brightly, and held his hands up to Lore.

"They are indeed, but they are also a lot heavier than grass," Daeron pointed out. "After all, if the grass isn't so heavy, then it doesn't need to be quite as strong to stay up now, does it?"
He was sort of amused at the turn of conversation.

"Oh.... well," Lin mused at this thought, "That's true, it takes a lot of grass for it to be heavy at all. It's just so floppy looking it's hard to imagine them that tall."
After all the wind always blew them side to side.

"You're welcome," Lore replied as he picked Silvrendir up so he could join Elnara and Celebor on the bed.
He wondered who was going to braid Celebor's hair while Elnara was gone. Perhaps Luthien he figured.
"So you both will be good while we're gone?"

Celebor nodded until Elnara told him to sit still, then grinned at Lore. "We'll be good! And I'm not gonna try talk to Uncle Ruel again, because he's just a big meanie! So I'll just go with Daeron! He said he was gonna show me something today, but later, not til after you're gone."
Silvrendir made himself comfortable in Lore's arms. "Are you going to be gone for a long time, Daddy?" he asked, looking up at him curiously.

"Well, a good downpour will flatten it," Daeron said thoughtfully, "so really it's no different from a wheat field or something. A bit taller perhaps, and green, of course, but that's really one of the only differences. And of course, we can't eat it."
He chuckled at that.

Lin giggled, "I don't think it would taste so good," she murmured.
Imagine that! People eating grass.

"Only a few days," Lore replied, "So it won't be that long."
Though for all he knew it could seem long for someone as young as Silvrendir so he added.
"Besides, you'll be having too much fun, and time will pass quickly."

Daeron chuckled again and shook his head. "No, indeed," he smiled, "it would not taste good. But it is also poison to us, and to humans - did you know that?"
He looked at her curiously.

Silvrendir smiled at Lore. "I know it will," he agreed. "I just wanted to know when you would be back again." He paused thoughtfully, then asked, "Is it very far away, where you're going?"

Lin shook her head, "I didn't know, I've never tried to eat grass, but Nina always said it was tasty."
She thought for a minute wehn she realized who she was talking about.
"But Nina says a lot of things."

"Yes," Lore nodded, "It is."
Well to most Gaians it wouldn't be, but if one was going to walk (which they weren't) it was quite far.

Elnara finished up Celebor's braid and patted him on the head. "There we are," she smiled at him, "all finished!" And she hugged him from behind, giving him a little extra squeeze before letting him go.
Celebor turned around to face her. "And now you gotta go, right?" he asked. "So it's not too hot, right? That's what Daeron said yesterday, it gets real hot here later in the day, and that's why Storm overheated, right?"
Elnara nodded. "Exactly," she agreed, looking over at Lore. "So ... we should probably get going now, then," she murmured, speaking now to Lore instead of to Celebor.

Daeron chuckled at Lin. "In all fairness," he pointed out, "she's a kirin, which is your land's version of a unicorn - grass is a part of their diet, they can digest it. It's not poison for them, only for people."
He paused for a moment, then added, "But you're very right, she does say a lot of things."
He remembered that about her - though he hadn't actually seen her in twenty years.
