I Sinistro I So, I'm wondering now, where were you guys when you heard the news? How old were you guys? What were you all doing when you heard the news? I don't think I was even paying attention at the time. I was like what, 7? But then again I can't recall anything past a few months unless it was particularly important. Around twice that many people die in the US every single day for things that have nothing to do with hijacked planes.

I Sinistro I That's one way of looking at it! In the irl conversations I had with people over 9/11 (within the past year or three), most chatter about the 3k and some will mention popular conspiracies, but in all cases there was always this undertone that the offense (and/or lasting butthurt) wasn't so much about the physical damage/death-toll as it was about some abstract blow to ego/national pride. (Tbh I don't know why they couldn't have just built them towers back up ASAP; wouldn't it show resilience?)

They would just fly more planes into them. That's what people were afraid of, I think. 9/11 was the day that some a*****e declared war on us because we don't believe the same things as they do. It wasn't an attack to bruise our "ego". What idiot told you it was for that reason? They should be decked in the throat.

But sitting there like a collective victim for 10+ years just lets them win, and most of the US being cowed into giving up essential freedoms is icing on their cake. Damned if something's done, damned if not. It wasn't directly stated, it was just the general feeling I got from people as they talked. I seriously doubt that 'blow to ego' is anywhere near the correct phrasing of the impression I'm trying to describe, but mind reading's impossible so I'm SOL with that. What I do know is that it feels presented in a way that doesn't seem like a natural expression. Maybe they were affected because they had to face that the US wasn't as impervious as media, school, propaganda, etc. made it out to be. Maybe there's social pressure to feel bad about it involved; after all if somebody is skeptical or indifferent about something everyone else is panicking/mourning/[whatever] over, they catch loads of flak no matter what their reasoning is (gotta love that groupthink in action) until they cave in or leave. Edit: It's getting late for me, so I'll answer any remaining questions/replies/whatnot tomorrow whenever I wake up.

Today there was a garage/charity sale at school. I got a pretty bitchin' keyboard for 75 cents. Everything on it works, and its backlight's adjustable. smile

Edit: It's getting late for me, so I'll answer any remaining questions/replies/whatnot tomorrow whenever I wake up. myself, I refuse to fall into that national pride bullshit, or the idea that they way america as a country reacted wa in any way justified. it was sensationalism to the extreme, and it's been nothing but blow after blow to the civilians on both sides, and a kick to the soldiers while they're down. frankly, don;t believe that Osama Bin Laden did it. I really think he was just a fall guy that the bush administration threw under the bus for money, oil, and (leastways the plan was) a greater appeal for american imperialism. and it didn't exactly work as well as planned. in any case, though, the fact is that it happened, the cover-up is completeor else the terrorist leader has been killed. america's crooks of leaders are still off scott-free, the whistleblowers are being assassinated or given rediculously long prison sentences, and our military is firing drones into civilian houses overseas while our goverfnment sends american tax money to dictators in that same region. so I'm sick of being a "victim"; I am ready to stand up and topple the ******** regime in this country! down with corporate stooges and sell-out politicians!

I do have some nationalistic tendencies, but on a micro scale (self-determined) and not at all like 'Murrican "patriotism". I'm not going to delve into various conspiracies or whodunnits but overall I agree that it happened due to bad foreign policy, imperialism, and/or a lust for oil/money. There's also the massive pro-Israel lobby to consider; while they frantically deny having anything to do with pushing the US to war, they have some beef with the other Middle Eastern nations and have pressed for economic sanctions and other bullshit that only aggravated the tension. Edit: I'd rather continue the rest over private messages or something like that, or just let the topic fall. Nariana SOOoooOOoooo... How about that RP? /awkwarddoesn'tcareforpolitics You ninja'd my post :c The RP is kind of dead right now, but Angelo's working on something. Meanwhile I'm playing Terraria and coming up with D&D campaign stuff that I may DM in the near future.

uuugghhh.... I got to class an hour early to work on my final that I haven't had a chance to work on all week because I misplaced some files only to find that the program is currently experiencing licensing issues on the school computers so I can't work on anything and today is the last day of class... =^= So I've been sitting around for the past 2 hours doing nothing while the school tries to figure out how to get the license back up.
I got a job by the way, at JoAnn Fabric & Crafts working at the cut counter~ Sorry I've been a little inactive lately, I'll catch up on what I've missed later today after I get some sleep.
