"Do you know others?" Lori asked. The FBPI had seen a few, but Seamus had been the only one willing to interact with them, and even then it had been to demand they take him with them. He opened his mouth to respond to her question when Luca's father offered another option. "...right. They're actually not here yet." He suspected they may change their minds last minute, but he had hope. "My work friends I can do, though."
Seamus took the cheese and guarded it more fiercely than the meat, though when a dark-haired toddler ran over laughing he growled and sprinted off with the last slice of meat in his mouth. The toddler was of course delighted and followed after.
Lori motioned for the others to follow and approached who but Toby and Dari.
"Hey!" Toby chimed, and then offered his hand first to Luca's mother and then his father. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Tobias. 'Toby' is fine. You're Luca's parents?" He had been told that that was where the happy couple was headed.
Dari meanwhile waited his turn before offering his own hand and smiling warmly.
"and this is Dari," Toby added. Introducing him as his brother was inaccurate and inappropriate in a group that could know the truth, and introducing him as his 'partner' at a gay wedding could cause some... confusion.

"We met a saw in Scotland when we visited," Luca's mother smiled. "But they weren't nearly as friendly." They'd been skittish, and they certainly hadn't come to eat. "Seamus is beautiful," she added. Oh...His parents weren't here yet? They were coming, weren't they?
Maybe it was a sore subject.
They followed Lori to his friends. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Toby, and you, Dari" Luca's mother smiled. "I've heard a lot about you two." She shook Toby's hand, and then Dari's.
"Nice to meet you," Luca's father greeted both of them, shaking their hands.

"Oh, have you?" Toby asked, glancing to Luca in a teasing manner. The whole 'nobody can know about our job' thing didn't really count when it came to entities, especially ones they had helped before, but it was still odd to hear that you had been mentioned! "Well, it's nice to meet you too. How was the trip?"

"Yes?" Luca looked slightly ashamed and then grinned. "Yeah, I told them about you guys," he admitted. "How you invited me to all those holidays," he added. It'd been so nice to felt included in the family!
"Terrible," Luca's father tsked. "We don't like the flying contraptions." Bleh. Shaking, horrible noise. "But the view was nice."

"Of course we do, you're family," Toby replied, but it was more of an aside than a brag or an attempt at impressing Luca's parents. It was true. Hell, it was going to become even more true before long. He still recognized that he had said it, though, and so turned to Luca's parents: "I mean, if you don't mind us borrowing him from time to time."
When Luca's father spoke, Toby frowned slightly and nodded. "Planes can be rough. It took me years of constant flying to get used to them, and I happened twenty years after they started." He perked a little then. "I'm glad you liked the view, though! Arizona isn't nearly this green." He gestured around them.
"This is our second time here," Dari piped up then. "We've been to Ireleand before, but here specifically. The people are very nice. You'd never think we were all so alien here."
Toby snickered. Lori smirked.
"Stop it," Dari said, though he was smiling himself. His words half disappeared into his drink cup.

Luca beamed at Toby's words. He really enjoyed the holidays, but since he'd been with Lori, he'd experienced them in an entirely new sense.
"I'm sure he doesn't mind being shared," Luca's mother offered, with a smile. She didn't think she'd ever seen Luca so happy; and that was all because of these people. Especially Lori! They'd been uncomfortable with the idea at first. Men marrying men was beyond them, but Luca was so happy.
"Luca mentioned an alien," Luca's father had caught the word. He looked around, as if trying to spot one.
Maia wandered over, taking Toby's hand quietly.

Toby took Maia's hand and kissed her hair. The conversation had shifted, so he felt alright doing so, because Dari had immediately smiled and raised his hand.
"That's me," Dari said, and then added to quell the immediate suspicions everyone had: "This isn't my natural form. It's magic." Of course that was also suspect. He didn't want to offer to show them without prompting, considering how badly it might go.
"We've known him since he was just a little blob in a petri dish," Lori commented, wrapping an arm around Luca's waist.

It seemed Dari had both their guest's attention. "You?" Luca's mother asked, but then listened to Dari's words. Aaah. She hadn't expected an alien to look so human! A blob?! She looked to Lori in alarm. "But he's a person. Why was he a blob?"
"He's kind of like a humanshaped jellyfish alien?" Luca tried to explain. There weren't words for Dari. He was the only one of his kind on earth. He smiled at Lori.
"Dari's made friends," Maia observed. She smiled up at Toby.

"You can be a person and a blob," Lori said with a little shrug. It had thrown even seasoned agents off when Dari had first shown up, but that kind of came with the territory. You had to just learn to accept things for what they were.
Dari laughed at Luca's explanation. "Well, more or less," he said. "Technically I'm just fluid in a membrane. Being human-shaped helped people accept me better before I acquired this form." He raised his hand and showed off the green stone ring. "I could take it off, but I do warn you that people can be upset by my appearance."
"For no good reason," Lori added as an aside.
Toby responded to Maia in a low voice so as to not interrupt: "Of course he has. Dari always makes friends."

Luca's mother seemed to struggle with that concept for a long moment. Well. If there were cat-almost-people, she supposed she could accept blob people. "You don't have to," she said. "People shouldn't be afraid of you, though." She'd seen plenty of things humans would've wet their pants over. Dragons and lake monsters, it didn't take too much to scare them. "You can show me later?"
Luca's father agreed, nodding. "You know what is scary?" He lowered his voice. "My wife when she's just waking up."
Maia gave Toby another smile. She swayed their hands. "Walk with me?" She asked, quietly.

Dari shrugged and gave a pleasant smile. "Of course." His smile grew slightly at the joke, and he was pretty sure it was the first 'dad-joke' he had heard in person. It was cute. "I don't know many morning people," he admitted. "I don't mind them."
Lori clapped his hands together, though not to be rude. "So can I get you anything? A drink, maybe?"
Of course he also didn't have to sleep and so wasn't tired whenever he got up, but that was life.
Toby took Maia's hand and nodded, willing to follow her where ever she wanted to go. Had she found something interesting?

"I like mornings," Luca's father said, with a smile. "But try getting her up to see a sunrise!" He tsked and shook his head.
"A drink would be nice," Luca's mother smiled at Lori's offer.
Cody wandered over and looped his arm around Dari's waist. "Making friends?" He asked.
Maia led Toby a ways away. The fae toddler from earlier hadn't yet given up catching up to the cat sidhe. "The kids really like Seamus," she said.

Sunrise! Nobody got up to see the sunrise any more.
"Sure," Lori said with a smile and a nod, "Juice? Water? Wine?" Then he turned to Luca's father: "Sir?"
Dari turned slightly to Cody and smiled as he approached, then wrapped his arm around the man the same, albeit a bit higher up. "And this is my fiancee, Cody," Dari said to the Elven couple. Rumor had it that they weren't too crazy about homosexual relationships, but if they had come to the wedding it couldn't be too bad.
Seamus now was playfully running from the children rather than trying to hide to eat his snack. He scampered here and there, pausing for them to catch up a bit before loping off again.
"I think he likes them too," Toby said. "I'm surprised. I didn't know how he'd do with kids." He was Unseelie, after all, and had only ever really come in contact with adults.

"Oh, juice is fine," Luca's mother gave Lori a smile. He certainly was polite! She hasn't figured on approving of him; but Lori had surprised her. "Thank you," she said.
"I'll have water," Luca's father nodded at Lori. Oh! Another same sex couple. Was this more common than he'd thought, then? He blinked in surprise for a moment before smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Cody," he said.
"It's nice to meet you, Cody," Luca's mother took his free hand in greeting. "It's so nice to put faces to names I've only seen in writing."
"I think he does," Maia watched the cat sidhe with a smile. "I'm glad. I was hoping he'd get along with our baby, when that happens."

"Sure, alright," Lori said, "I'll be right back." He went off to retrieve his future in-laws' drinks from the tables, chatting with an old friend from the clan as he did.
Toby smiled to Maia. Their baby? Sure, they had taken their classes, but save some changelings, entities didn't really like to give up their babies. If they had to but were part of a clan or pack or community, the child went there before it came into the hands of the FBPI. It was going to be a bit of a waiting period. Let Maia be excited, though. It was adorable. They had all the time in the world to wait.
"I'm sure he will," Toby said, "but we'll have to teach it to not steal food for him."
