Luca's mother was so glad to get out of that car. She stepped out and gave Lori a grateful smile. "We're walking from here?" She asked. All that green, it was lovely.

Luca's father seemed equally happy with exiting the car. He climbed out on the other side, looking around. "Guests?" He guessed, gesturing to the other cars.

"You'll meet them in a bit," Luca promised, and took Lori's hand. "Ready?" He asked.

Lori nodded in response to Luca's mother's question. Humanity hated having to walk anywhere. With entities, it was a bit different.

"Oh, they'll be inside already," he said then, glancing off in the direction of the cars as they passed them. "The quarters are pretty great, I have to say. Maybe not to everyone, but considering the other options. You're more than welcome in the rath too, but a lot of people don't like the whole 'under-ground' thing."

Underground? "Oh, no, I think we'll be fine," Luca's mother assured. She didn't seem to like the idea of being underground any more than she had the car. "It'll be nice to meet your friends," she added.

Luca smiled. He was looking forward to introducing his parents to the people who'd become the most important in his life. "You can meet Dari, he's an alien! He's great." He'd found him at first, but he'd quickly become a great friend. "

Lori chuckled and shook his head. Generally you didn't introduce people by species, not because it was offensive but because people had preconceptions about certain races. Dari even looked entirely human on an average day, but Luca's excitement seemed like the type a child would have at showing off a friend who was very different than them.

"He works with us," Lori said, "A lot of people are. Oh, and you'll have to meet Seamus, or else he'll be upset and probably stink-eye you the whole time."

An alien?! A real one? Both parents stared for a long moment, before seemingly recovering. "Luca's written to us about Seamus," his mother said, and gave Lori a smile. "He's the cat sidhe that lives with you? I heard he really likes sweets."

"We're not feeding cake to a cat," Luca's father shook his head. "He'll get sick."

"He's...not really a cat," Luca offered. "I think he's mostly person. He can write, even. Did you bring his board?" He looked to Lori. "We can show them."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2017 1:11 pm

"He mostly lives with us on weekends," Lori said, but that wasn't exactly true. Seamus came home with them a lot, but it wasn't so bad. The cat sidhe trusted them and it didn't feel great to leave a stupid person in a cat's body in a big office with a skeleton crew.

"Yeah, of course I did," he continued then, "and he can eat cake. If we don't give it to him he'll just take it himself." Maia had ruined him, but at least Seamus was happy. "He's fae, technically. Not my type, but that sort of general genus. He's kind of rude and arrogant, but at the same time he's still more animal than person. It's complicated. You'll see when you meet him."

He led the group past the treeline where the magical atmosphere became palpable. Even human said things about the 'feel' of the woods being different than other places, but of course it was.

Oh... maybe giving it to him was the better option. Cats didn't use silverware, and no one would want a cat's face in the cake. "Aren't most cats?" Luca's mother asked, with a slight shrug of the shoulders.

The two parentals went quiet as they moved past the tree line. They could feel magic at work here.

Luca gave Lori a smile. "Maybe we can convince Seamus to answer a few riddles later," he suggested. And by convince, he meant bribe.

'Sure," Lori said with a smile back to Luca's mother, "but this one can tell you what he thinks of you." His attention when back to Luca then. "I'm sure we could. He likes to show off." They'd have to keep him fed and happy, but that was only difficult sometimes.

The grounds selected for the wedding were not heralded by decorations but by people. It might well rain before the wedding and so nothing had been tied up or hung out, but voices preceded the area. The guests that had arrived so far were well-spread-out and Luca's parents were among some of the first crew, but Lori's clan was a large one. Though not all were outside, the number of people lingering, chatting, drinking, eating, and laughing might be overwhelming to strangers, which was why Lori fully expected to be spending a lot of time socializing with Luca's parents.

Dari's head turned toward them, and of course Toby was nearby enough that he noticed and turned too. Both smiled. Dari waved as well. Lori waved back. Others noticed and offered similar greetings.

Then, as if he could have heard the conversation from the parking lot (and maybe he had, nobody could be sure), a big black shape trotted up toward them. It was Seamus, having no knowledge of socially acceptable boundaries for new arrivals or else not caring. Someone had made him a flower crown and draped it around his neck. He seemed quite pleased.

Seamus meowed, peering up at Lori.

"Well, speak of the devil," Lori said, smirking. He turned to his other guests then. "Mister and Missus Elerin, this is Seamus. Seamus, these are Luca's parents."

Seamus turned to Luca's parents and offered them a hearty meow.

The only sign of any discomfort from either parent was that they moved closer to each other. So many people! Luca's mother returned Dari's wave and gave a shy smile.

When Seamus came over, he received a brighter smile. "Oh, hello Seamus," she greeted. "You're beautiful," she leaned down to pet him. And look at the little flower crown on him! Adorable!

"Luca's told me all about you," she said. "We'll have to get you something to eat." But maybe not something sweet.

Dari grinned to have gotten to return, but turned back to his current conversation when the woman's attention turned to Seamus.

Seamus gave a delighted trumpet when he was complimented. He hadn't been getting too many so far from the people he knew already, but Lori's clan had rather liked him. He was basking in the attention, but he could still appreciate a kind gesture. He pushed his head up into Luca's mother's hand and purred loudly. The sound that came next was a two-syllable "mrow-ow" in response to food. Lori just smirked and shook his head.

Seamus disengaged, and walked a few steps, then looked back at the group and called them, ran back, and ran away again.

"He wants it now," Lori clarified.

Oh, and he was friendly! Luca had mentioned that sometimes Seamus cursed people, but he didn't seem to be in a cursing mood. "He's beautiful," she said, looking to Lori when the cat sidhe seemed to leave.

Oh! Was he hungry? She'd expected to feed him later. "Alright," she smiled, and looked to her husband. "Come on," she said, offering him her hand. Feeding a cat with the intelligence of a person would be fun!

"Spoiled cat," Luca's father muttered, but he took his wife's hand. "Wait for us, then, we're coming!"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:43 pm

Seamus perked up when the new people seemed to get the hint and happily trotted off to guide them to the fae-style buffet table, looking back every so often to make sure they were coming. The food was not catered, of course, but faeries were no strangers to good cooking. Since connection with humanity had been growing stronger, they were able to get more and more ingredients, and forest-dwelling or not they had the benefit of magic to assist in shortcomings. Flies seemed to be suspiciously absent.

Seamus led Luca's parents to a platter of smoked meats and cheeses and began to purr and rub against Luca's mother's leg.

"Who would have thought Seamus would break the ice?" Lori murmured as he followed.

Luca grinned at Lori. "Seamus is good at this," he said.

Oh! Luca's mother had expected the cat sidhe to lead them straight to the sweets! Had he heard their concerns about his becoming ill? "You're just darling," she beamed, as she bent down to pet him. "I'll give you some," she added, before standing and selecting several pieces of meat.

"Can he have cheese?" Luca's father asked, looking to Lori. Was dairy good for cats?
PostPosted: Fri Jul 14, 2017 12:14 pm

Lori privately thought that Seamus probably wasn't meaning to help, only to get somebody else to feed him. He made out like a bandit when people thought he was cute.

Seamus took the meat in his mouth piece by piece and set it on a nearby patch of grass to avoid sticking it in the dirt. He turned to Lori as Luca's father asked a question and meowed.

"Err, he... yeah. Just a little," Lori agreed. He wasn't sure if a real hefty chunk of dairy might upset Seamus' stomach, but he'd had bits of sliced cheese before and hadn't been worse-off.

"He's the politest cat sidhe I've ever met," Luca's mother observed, smiling. So neat, too! She offered him another piece of meat. "Do you want to introduce us to your work friends, Lori?" She asked, looking back towards her son and his fiancée.

Luca's father bent and offered Seamus a small piece of cheese. "You could introduce us to your parents," he suggested.
