Basically.
"Good, I'm glad you're having fun!" Toby said to Holly. The both of them would be less lonely out there. It might have been against his parents' plans, but he was sure they'd be happy that their son was less lonely, and perhaps even some day might have some choices for romance. He addressed Reese then: "Good! I knew you would. Remember you can always call us, about anything. Did the amplifier get there okay?"
Sprites were, at times, a bit difficult to hear simply because of their size, especially the small ones. It could be frustrating for everyone. Of course Research and Development had found a device to help bridge the gap. Mostly it was meant for official meetings (body language and charades worked well a lot of the time for normal conversation) but it could be used for whatever the receiver wanted. "You haven't had any problems with any more humans, have you?"

"Lots of fun! More stories? Send more stories, Poppy?" The little nymph seemed more interested in that, at the moment. They could share the stories with the sprites! Maybe they'd listen when Poppy read?
"Yes, it did! Thank you!" Reese smiled. It made communicating with the sprites much easier. "Nah, just some hippies that want to see the foxes. I don't mind them as long as they don't hurt anything. They can't stay long, so."

"Hippies won't hurt them at least," Toby agreed, and then turned his attention back to Holly. "Sure, I can send more stories. What ones do you want me to send?"
Children's books generally weren't made to survive live in the forest. The waterproof ones were made for babies and Holly was well beyond that, so whatever he sent was probably paper and/or cardboard and was some day going to be too destroyed to use. He was going to have to keep buying books, but at least they were cheap. Besides, Holly was growing up so fast she'd be over these books soon and more able to take care of what she owned.

"More Poppy stories," Holly suggested. "All the Poppy stories!" She loved the books about dogs best. "When can Poppy visit again?" She asked.
"You're doomed now," Reese said, and shook his head at Toby. He offered no assistance in distracting Holly, though. "Could you send ones about plants and things? She should get to know them."

Toby paused. "What like... like botany textbooks?" He was only half-teasing. Did they make baby plant books that went beyond daisies and vegetables? "I think that might be up to you. We don't have a whole lot of plants in Arizona." Then to Holly: "I can send you poppy books. They make lots of poppy books."

Reese paused. The only books he had experience with were the ones HQ had sent in that care package, or the ones Toby read. ...Text books? What were those? "I can teach her them," he promised. "I just don't want her getting into a patch of poison ivy or something." Or something worse.
"Poppy stories!" Holly beamed at Toby. "Love you Poppy!"

Huh, they probably had those, but a drawing of poison ivy wasn't going to be as identifiable as an actual picture.
"I'll see if I can find something," Toby agreed, "If I can't, I'll send you some botany at the very least. I mean it might be a lot of scientific gobbeldygook but you know what's what and there's always pictures." He smiled to Holly. "I love you too, Holly."

"Thank you!" Reese gave Toby a smile. He didn't want the toddler resident of his forest ending up with itchy rashes. "I don't know if we have any poison berries, but I'll make sure she doesn't get any of them." He didn't know if nymphs were even effected by plants! "Could Lori find out if poison would hurt her?"

Toby thought a moment. "Well, I can ask him. There are so many different types of nymphs, though, we can only probably narrow it down. She might instinctively know they're bad, though, or nothing might affect her. I mean, there's all types. I'll ask, but don't worry so much. You're better at this than you think."

Different types of nymphs? Like how some just appeared and some were born? Reese nodded in understanding. "She knows better than to play in the water without supervision," he said. She usually had the Sprites to play with, but they were good at keeping an eye on the nymph, too.
"I'll try not to," he promised.

"That's good," Toby said. Regardless of the type, nymphs usually needed oxygen as much as anyone else. Water was still dangerous, especially when they were small.

The whole marriage thing didn't concern Lori. He and Luca had already been living together, already adjusted to it, and already begun sharing everything. Seeing his family was worrisome, sure, but the actual marriage? Eh. He wasn't sure what Toby had been on about. Waiting for Luca's parents at the bus station, though... that was terrifying. He wasn't necessarily the person they'd wanted for their son, especially if they didn't approve of how gay they both were, and he wasn't sure he looked good enough or how to act around them. His interactions with other entities outside of HQ were mostly limited to work, and he had never met a lover's parents before. This one he was marrying, though. Soon.

The bus pulled into the station not long after Lori and Luca's arrival, but still the latter was nervous. He'd picked up a magazine and was nervously skimming through it.
People started to file off of the bus, carrying bags. Two people looked particularly nervous as they stepped down off the steps of the us. They were both spindly, and red headed. Luca looked up. He closed his magazine.
"There they are," he said.

Luca's own nervousness didn't help Lori relax. After all, these were his parents. Being nervous to introduce the people who birthed and raised you to your fiancee was pretty normal, but shouldn't he be less nervous thank Lori, or at least pretending to be? As the bus pulled in Lori released a huff of air. Well, here it was. He wondered if Luca's parents looked enough like him to be recognizable.
Of course, only two percent or so of humanity had red hair, so when two vibrant redheads stepped off of the bus, Lori suspected he might have found them. As their faces cleared from the crowd around them, though, it was confirmed. They did, in fact, look quite a bit like Luca. His fiancee's verbal reassurance was the final nail.
All Lori could offer was a smile, though. They weren't going to recognize him, and they might be actively hoping that the burly bearded man wasn't their future son-in-law. He wasn't exactly traditionally Elven, and you could only be so accommodating in the human public.

Luca stood to greet them, and after a hug from his mother, seemed to notice his father was staring at Lori. Oh no. This was going to be trouble, he was sure of it.
"Which are you, an elf or a bear?" The elf joked. Luca had written at length about the man he was to marry--and while they didn't approve, there was no need to be rude. "Can we get out of here?" He added, looking around anxiously. "I hated sitting in that contraption."
