On the one hand, I AM old...and proud of it! I've SURVIVED thus far!
On the other hand, I'm only 38...so I'm kinda young----among my own peers.....especially for having teens.
Don't worry about me chou-chan, I'm aging gracefully! xd

She doesn't even try to understand either. Besides, she's too busy planning her wedding.

First--Congratulations on her ah impending nuptials (to her, if not to you--gosh I HOPE you like the guy who's going to be your step-Dad) Second...er, ah, I hate anime (*cowers, and covers head in anticipation of impending teen rage*) I've never been "into" it....and find it difficult to put up with....ANYthing that comes out of a culture that elevates "Rape Man" as a PROTAGONIST....grrrrrr. (*regains self-control*) as a Mom of daughters...surely some of you can understand....but my kids and hubby outvoted me, so they've been watching Anime for years...and have friends who do too etc etc etc. BUT my kids were very interested in gaia...and I KNEW that POS was NOT going to cut it...as well as I knew that they were not strong enough to fight off temptation attending schools where they had access to the web, and friends who were daily on gaia....so, I joined. If they were going to be on here, I figured the least I could do would be to keep as close to them as I could--within reason of course....and I'm basically very open-minded and very "tolerant" (the old definition if not the new) -Don't believe what all some people say about us fundamentalist Christians. rolleyes mrgreen Besides...they wanted me along--as a Mom of teenagers, I can't tell you how much a value that. I'm ever aware that it's not the case for so many teens and their Moms...I'm so grateful that my kids DO still want me to share their lives with them--and they're so cool! So it's neat to get to share them with other people too. I get to be the "proud Mama" and hang out WITH my kids, which I CAN'T see as a waste of time or anything else. I hope your Mom might change her mind at some point. Tell her there are other parents on here--there's even a HUGE guild especially for gaians over 30. (It's super elaborate) Hope I haven't talked your kid's ears off! (or given you eye strain) * wink Winks at chou-chan*)

However not all anime is as bad as you think. I've seen some very mature (Not X rated. But Mature.) anime that you MIGHT like. Ah! My Goddess! Focus on the art, and the relationship developments. There IS silly comedy in it and even a mild form of sensuality to it but I find the series in a whole (AND THE COOL MOVIE!) to be a very mature and intelectually stimulating peice. The movie is the one you can't escape from. It's so beautiful. The artwork and the vocal stimuli is enough to make someone's heart flutter.
