Canas Renvall So I beat Uncharted 2 today. Oh... my God. I can't even begin to describe how amazing that was. If ever there was a killer app for a video game, it would be this. Every moment is a truly intense cinematic masterpiece. There is nothing to be said other than if you don't have a PS3, this is the one reason you need to get one. (And of course, you have to play the first Uncharted too, 'cause it too is amazing). Uncharted 2: Among Thieves... I agree with Playstation Magazine. 21/20. I'm sprinting through Drake's Fortune so I can pick up the sequel already.

AngelaAshford Chase Me To The End So...Where did Bio and Notte go? HOW DARE THEY PRETEND TO LIVE BUSY LIVES!!! scream It's sure quiet here without them. cry Yes, I don't like when this particular thread isn't active with the sounds of rants and whip cracks. So, I beat Uncharted today...And I just have to describe the most unexpected situation ever. So, I'm in an undeground labyrinth and the hint button icon displays on the screen. So I press it, and the camera refocuses on something moving quick and sneakily in the distance. So, I'm thinking "Oh s**t. What the hell do I have to deal with now, white clothed ninjas?" Later on in the labyrinth I come to the circular room with Drake's bones in it. Raja cowers in and then the next thing I see is effing creatures straight out of the movie The Descent. At this point, of course, I'm like "What the flippity flying F***?", because the plot was pretty grounded til then. Then, after a couple of more scenes, I find myself treading the dark corridors of the Nazi u-boat port, which just happened to be filled with those creatures. At that point, I couldn't think of anything else other then how the game just seemingly transitioned into a survival horror spinoff of Wolfenstein. When one of the creatures scared the s**t out of me, I screamed, paused the game, saved, turned off the system, and left the room. I was not ready to deal with that s**t, dammit. Ha ha. HOW DARE THAT GAME TAKE ME OFF GAURD!!! scream But overall, I really enjoyed that game. I think that Lara Croft has found the perfect man. I say that because I think that since the two franchises draw comparison, I think they need to be combined to make the perfect action-adventure game. Where Uncharted dominates in Action and Story-telling, Tomb Raider owns the categories of better Puzzles and Platforming. That being said, I cant wait to play the sequel...In about a months time...

Sorry about my absence. Long story short, my uncle is a d**k and moved the internet to his room, leaving the family computer internetless... Buuuuut, guess what! I finally gots me a new Laptop! That's right! It's a Toshiba Satellite, and apart from it being Windows and all, it's awesome. Plus I got internet to myself now, so you won't be getting away from me. I've been monitoring you guys on the PS3 though, and I missed out on a lot of good conversation. So where do I start?
I picked up Uncharted 2 on release date, it actually wasn't late in Canada... And I sat down to play it, and I finished it in one sitting. My eyes would've bled, if I didn't have such a boner... Naw, I'm kidding. But seriously, I don't even know where to start. My whole definition of action packed got rewritten with that game.
I'm oh so glad you liked Uncharted 1, Chase. I bought it when it came out (about a week after I got my Wii) and it caused me to leave my Wii laying in the dust. But I have to disagree with you somewhat on the comparison to Tomb Raider. TR might have more puzzles, but I find that Uncharted's platforming system is a lot better. A lot more smooth and fluid at least, and much fewer leaps of faith than TR. My friend said that if anything, Lara Croft would end up being Drake's mother. Since she was the mother of tomb platformers of its kind. And Uncharted is the new generation... Besides, Drake's got enough women chasing his a**-worth-saving.
Oh, and for the record, in Uncharted 2, the unlockables are currency based, and you can transfer your Uncharted 1 trophies into Uncharted to to get some extra cash and buy some unlockables. So if you plan on playing Uncharted through again, before buying 2, try and get as many medals as possible.
On another note, along with Uncharted 2, I picked up Brutal Legend, and it's all kinds of awesome as well. I was right. It got me into a whole new respect for Heavy Metal, and now I can't listen to anything BUT metal. Awesome storyline. Awesome music. Awesome game altogether. It definitely lacks polish, as most third party multiplatform games do, but it's still an awesome title that anyone who has the money, or isn't fortunate enough to have a PS3 (and can't play Uncharted 2) should pick up. It's actually a lot less hack and slash than I expected, and a lot more RTS, but it's not overly micromanageable, so you don't have to worry about console controls. It almost reminds me of Dynasty Warriors type game, but more fun.

Lol, they both return at the same time. Conspiracy, I tell you. Conspiracy!!! No, but good to have ya back.
@Bio: I can see your point that Uncharted is the Tomb Raider of the this generation, and that Uncharted's platforming is a lot more smooth and fluid. But, and I'm basing this off the only TR game I've played and beaten, which is Anniversary...Anyways, but Tomb Raider has some epic moments in platforming, and I think much more so then Uncharted. Plus, Lara's crazy acrobatics intensify these epic situations. Like, in Anniversary, the second to last level has you flipping, swinging, and wall running like mad to beat a time limit, and there's also parts where to survive projectiles Lara has to do a series of back, front, and side flips to avoid instant death. The resulting sequence is as beautiful as Uncharted's visuals lol.
By the way, have you've been keeping up with the new South Park?

Yeah, I suppose. But frankly, I wouldn't want Drake to have the crazy acrobatics like Lara. In fact, in Uncharted 2, Drake actually can swing from horizontal polls, but he does NOT do a full loop, which made me happy. Drake ain't a circus monkey, that job's been given to Leon already. Although in Uncharted 2, at one point in platforming, Drake's partner (who I won't name) does offer to throw him a banana. XD
No, I haven't been keeping up with South Park, but now that I have my new computer, I'll probably establish some sort of a Torrenting agent within the next few days and catch up on a LOT of missed TV.

The resulting sequence is as beautiful as Uncharted's visuals lol. I agree to an extent, Lara's usually had the upper hand on the puzzles/platforming as she does all the crazy stuff, but Uncharted is still very comparable. Like in Uncharted 2. Won't spoil anything, but I'll just say this: From the very beginning, you'll be climbing for your life. razz Every single platforming element in Uncharted 2 has some incredible level of deadliness. Lara is usually trying to get ahead of a closing door, or over some endless pits. Drake does this stuff too, naturally, but his predicaments are far more... interesting. Once again, I'll leave it at that. All I have to say is Uncharted 2 is truly, for all you OoT fans (like me)... No exaggeration, the greatest experience since OoT. And for those who hold OoT in such high regard (like me), that's really saying something. Hell, I might even go so far as to say it surpasses OoT. ...Eh, nah. But I tell you, it comes too close to really tell the difference. This is proof that game companies still care. razz

Emm, I'm guessing it takes a few hours? @Canas: Whoa there. Do you realize what you're saying? Comparing a game to OoT is serious business. So, do you reall mean in it, in saying it's THAT good? I guess universal rave reviews tell no lies. Well, I think I'll hold off on getting a second controller for another week, and pick up Uncharted ASAP.

Like I said, Chase, no exaggeration. razz Hell, it even got the first ever 21/20 from PSM3. That's saying something. I can't even really describe playing it, it was so suspenseful and action-packed at every single turn, and if you weren't busy murdering people, you'd be busy climbing or running for your life. There's really not a moment's rest for our hero in this game, save one part about halfway though. And that's not really rest more than storytelling.

Well, dude... I know I usually say I don't really pay attention to reviews, since most of them are bullshit... But when a game gets 24 perfect scores... Without the Three billion dollar marketing campaign like GTA4... It usually means something.
