hey, everyone. i just posted the last chapter in the first act of SiaS. when i finish posting all the stories, i'd like to start a thread or two for everyone to participate in short story writing. what would you guys be interested in doing?

if you want, i can establish the world and core characters for everyone to play around with. what sort of world and characters would you be interested in?

recently, ive been thinking about writing short stories to add to the legend of the laughing man (from the short story by jd salinger. read it here

you might have heard the name before if you watch ghost in the shell where there is a villain named after him. if we went with this character it would be sort of a tall tale, with a larger-than-life robin hood-like mysterious central character in what is basically the simplified real world. the laughing man and his strange crew would have misadventures as they pull off their ingenius criminal escapadees, all the while staying out of the clutches of chinese bandits, tibetan pirates, and an obsessive french detective and his crossdressing daughter.

if you all don't like that idea, we can make our own world and partying heroes (or anti-heroes). all ideas welcome!

once those of us who are interested in this decide what we're going to do, i wouldnt mind be the editor. just send your short stories into me and i'll do all the spelling and grammar corrections so that everything looks nice and semi-professional. smile

[20:04] DharmaBm42: hey so i have this idea for the Savage Arts Storytelling Guild
[20:05] DharmaBm42: Dynamic role play storytelling!
[20:05] DharmaBm42: We come up with a world and people introduce characters and plots.
[20:05] DharmaBm42: Once every one has had a chance to write a story or two, then the editor adds something new - something world-changing which affects each of the sets of characters
[20:06] DharmaBm42: then they write new stories of their characters in this slightly altered world
[20:07] DharmaBm42: simple example, a warcraft like world where there is a war going on between two or more factions. authors write stories about characters on both sides. then after writing stories about missions or whatever, the ditor throws in that there is a gigantic battle approaching and that both sides are recruiting and stuff and so people write stories about whats going on during that time. then the battle and who wins or loses and people write stories about what their characters were doing during that

[20:07] DharmaBm42: it doesnt have to be a war story world
[20:07] DharmaBm42: it could be lots of different things

i dont mind editing. i think i'll call the project, 'Savage World!' and i have some concepts already. ill come up with the basics of the world - geography, basic races, etc - and then authors can flesh it out and add color to the world. maybe we'll have different threads for the three or four parts of the story.
