(( rofl @King Arthur ))

Ruby was getting restless, as she always did when she was emotional...or when she wasn't emotional...bleh...she was almost always restless. She moved to her mirror and looked back at the red rimmed eyes and tear-streaked cheeks, and felt herself shudder. She glared back at the grey eyes and pushed away from the mirror. She needed out.

She took her cell phone from her pocket and sent a quick text message to Verve. Then closed her eyes and randomly picked some clothes from the twenty piles on her floor. After opening her eyes and finding a skirt and a pair of pajama pants in her hands it occured to her that random dressing would not be beneficial. She tossed both of them back to the floor and went to her closet. I need somethin red, or somethin sparkly, or somethin red an sparkly. She pulled out a red turtleneck and made a sour face, throwing it back in. She pushed through the clothes until she reached the far end of the closet, and all old fancy clothes she wore back when she was Clair. They weren't nearly all as sparkly as she would have wanted, but then something caught her eye. She snapped it up, a red glittery halter top. Ruby grinned as she pulled it out. She remembered having picked it up as Clair, she couldn't have resisted it, even if she had kept herself from wearing red at that time. She changed quickly, adding a white and red racer jacket to the mix.

She paused at the door, and sent a quick text message to Hattie. She was honestly concerned for the girl, and that look in Rainbow's eyes, the way she looked into nothing sometimes, it seemed all too familiar. It made sense, knowing Hattie was pregnant now, it made complete sense. She didn't know if a night out would do Hattie much good, but Ruby was sure to give her the option anyway.

The hallway was clear as Ruby peeked out her door, and then she walked out, only the stubborn set of her chin evidence of her current mood. She made her way to the garage and climbed into a blood red '72 valiant charger. There was always something sexy about muscle cars, at least in Ruby's eyes.

A moment later the car sped out of the garage, heading to downtown Krovh.

From Hattie's perch on the old tire, she thought with one hand idly tracing the long scar that ran along side her belly button as she often did, even before she was pregnant. Now, when she rubbed the scar, it would become longer and larger, more distorted with her growing belly in the months to come. But instead of being the happy mother, bubbling and glowing with a little person growing with in her, she felt nothing but dred and a darkness. With a War brewing, this was not the best time. Eric seemed okay and quit happy with the situation. Hell, he almost had her convinced that everything was going to be okay.... But in the back of her mind she felt that she had heard it all before. That someone, maybe in her memories, had said the exact same thing to her once. This troubled her.

Her thoughts were interupted by her rumbling pocket. She pulled out her tattered, glittering purple cell phone and flipped it open. One the screen was a text message from Ruby. She was invited to a party or something. Hattie shrugged, slid down off the tires and headed for the truck. Eric was no where to be seen, so she climbed in to her truck and got on her way.

Her phone viberated again, a text from Eric.
"Wonderin' where you are. Love ya!"

"Ohy, Dahlihn! Slahw dawghn!" Arch said, jogging in the way of Ruby's car.

Ruby slammed on the brakes to keep from running over the angel. She grit her teeth, and gave him a sharp glare. "Don't run in front of movin' vehicles, sug."

"I stopped, didn' I?" Ruby kept her eyes steady over the wheel. "I'm goin' out."

"Ask the seer, sug, he has all the answers. An' while you're at it, let 'im know I don't need or want his help on any battlefield again, I'd rather be left there than owe him anythin'. " Ruby glanced at him briefly, and then regretted it, pulling her gaze away and getting angry at the slight movement she felt in her lip.

Hattie hit her breaks just behind Ruby and stuck her head out the window. "What the funk is the hold up?" She yelled, saying, 'Funk' intentionally. As trash mouth as she could be, she didn't much care for the "F" word. Too many meanings for her taste. Her pocked vibrated and she reached into it to grab her phone. She texted Eric back, "Going out with Rubbles. Heart Hattie"

Ruby gave an apologetic glance back to Hattie, and then let out an irritated grumble. "I had an' argument with the stupid seer, an' he said he wished he'd left me out on the field after the shelter explosion, callin' me evil as Coyl. An' right about now I'm wishin' the same as him. Now's there anythin' else you want? Cause sugar, we ain't together anymore, unless you're forgettin."

Hattie pulled her head into the truck and threw it into park. She knew the two needed a few moments together. She could see the pain in their eyes and she sympathized with them. She had considered breaking it off with Eric and not telling him about the baby.... And now she wiahed that had been the path. She didn't want herself or her baby to be his end.

Arch's eyebrow twitched slightly at the last sentence.
"Aye." He said simply, standing up straight, letting her past.

Ruby regretted it the moment she said it, and let out a soft sigh. She glanced up at his shades. "I love you, angel," she whispered softly.
