I think... I probably have some strange tastes for pairings; because I actually like SyncDist. But then, this is coming from the girl who also has a thing for DistGuy; which is, let me tell you, IMPOSSIBLE to find.

The list of pairings for Tales of the Abyss that I like... let's name a few!

For het:
Luke fon Fabre x Tear Grants (it's one of the few canon pairings in the world I like!)
Guy Cecil x Tear Grants (a girl can dream, I think it would be an interesting thing to write)
Arietta the Wild x Ion
Anise Tatlin x Sync the Tempest
Florian x Anise Tatlin

For yaoi: (this is going to be a long one...)
Asch the Bloody x Luke fon Fabre
Jade Curtiss x Guy Cecil
Sync the Tempest x Luke fon Fabre

Jade Curtiss x Dist the Reaper (not a favorite, but it's okay)

It could happen! (if they were really drunk...) But a girl can dream can't she? I just have WAY too much time on my hands to come up with these crazy pairings. (I write JadeGuy on Live Journal for the 30_kisses, and I'm planning to do others in the future)
