Hence, the next morning, three raccoons were lying dead outside the overturned trash can. Faust stared at them, puzzled, and then shrugged. Ah, well... maybe there was lead in the trash can and they died of lead poisoning.

"It's all right," sighed Faust, grabbing the raccoons by their tails, dumping them in the trash can, and securing the lid again. "At least I was able to provide them with one last meal before they tragically died of lead poisoning..."
