I've never even seen Stracraft or these "zerg" things so that makes your first paragraph pointless.Never assume things.

As for the second para,I was just expressing one possibility. While your version is more likely it dosen't fully dismiss mine.Either way it's trivial at best as GW will never let it happen for 3-5 years atleast.

Interesting. Well, Starcraft was a massively popular game a few years back (still is to a certain extent) which had a suspicious amount of similarities with 40k. The Zerg in particular, are a simulacrum of the Tyranids, though they have some differences. The main point I was making still stands though: I haven't read any fluff that says the 'Nids gain the biological abilities of thier fallen enemies. The Kroot have that ability, but they are the only ones I am aware of in the 40k universe that do that.

Hundreds of caulties out of how many? There might have only beens a few thousand.
The IoM has hive cities that have populations of over 8 billion. In fact if you look at the Eye of Terror campian map there are worlds with 22 million million people.
How big is the Tau Empire in comparison?
Too a small population hundreds of caulties could be severe.

Also letting Tyranids eatthe tau can only be bad.Think of all the things the Hive Mind could form using the Tau genetics.thats why the IoM hate when Nids fight Orks.
Its small because its so densly packed

What do you mean. What is "it."
If you mean the Empire is small but densly packed with Tau then thats a disadvatage to the them.It makes them easier to wipe out in one go.

If you mean the population is small and densly packed then thats even worse for them.

As for 'Nids gaining from eating Tau,the 'Nids could indeed gain the abillity to command them.
Think what they could do then.
Hive mind tells the Tau to build sheild drones for for it's infantry. That means alot more get into CC.
Just because the Tau arn't able to contribute directly from their genetics dosen't mena they are usless. All the Hive mind needs are Ethereals.
The empire is packed densely but I still dont get why your so pro mass Tau Genocide. The reason the IOM dosn't take them all out at once is that they would be so badly drained that a single Ork Waaaagh could crush them.

& do some digging. The hive mind dose not control they consume. Stealers do the "controling" but thats just to ready a world for being taken

True 'nuff. The debate of IoM wiping Tau out is kinda asking for a flame war, and anyway GW would probably never have the Tau wiped out like that anyway. tyranids aren't about enslaving races, they just take all the biomatter they can. Now Tau on the other hand, kinda like the "enslaving" thing, lol. Wow, i can't believe i just said that. I'm such a blaspshemer crying

Burn? He is not a blasphemer, he is an ignorant and confused human. It is our duty to rehabilitate him in such a way so that he is a valuable member of Tau society. biggrin

How quickly you guys seem to have run out of things to talk about.
Anyway, I haven't really gotten to much fluff that would support this opinion, but honestly I think a couple of you may be overestimating what it would take to defeat the tau empire...unless I'm reading posts wrong or something.

From what I understand, prior to beng side-tracked into talking about the Tyranid abilities, the discussion was not "Can the IoM destory the Tau?" but "How well would the Tau resist another Crusade?"

I was lost for a second. I've been a Tau commander since i began, and always will be.

Anyway, I do believe that the Tau would be able to hold their own against the Imperium. Nothing spurs invention like war. While the IoM is stuck using the same weaponry, the earth caste could start creating newer, more powerful weaponry like nothin'.

Hmm.... If Kroot were to start feasting on Marines, could they become large, musular, very hard to kill uber Kroot?

No offence but as a Tau commander wouldn't you be biased?
If the IoM lanches a full on crusade against the Tau then the odds are stacked against the Tau.With marines, the Impireal gaurd,Titans,Alien Hunters and the Navy the IoM has the Tau beat. The only thing saving the Tau is that they are a small Empire wich the IoM dosen't see as a threat.
Look what went up against the 13th Black crusade. That would flatten the Tau in mere months.Although most crusades aren't that extreme they are still vast war machines that gring down any opposition.Sure the Tau would fight hard but they would loose.

i am wholly for the tau in this argument. Pretty much everyone is saying that the imperium is so great, and they could completely own the tau, as if they're nothing. The tau could hold their own, and also, why the hell would they do this to the tau? You don't see them sending everything they have to wipe out the Eldar, or the Necrons, or Orks, or Chaos. They just don't do it. so its kinda pointless to have this discussion. All it's going to lead to is endless posts of "The Imperium is better" "the Tau are better""The Imperium is better" "the Tau are better."

The IoM dose send crusades against all the races you mentioned, the problem is they aren't all in one place, are to numerous or just (in the case of the necrons) just to alien to deal with.

I did say the Tau would fight hard,it's just that the Impirium has the numbers and experience on it's side. Also they don't care if it takes 100s of years to do something, they will stick with it.

I didn't say the IoM would send "everything" against the Tau,just a standard crusade.

Also the IoM isn't better,The Tau aren't better. It's the 'Nids that will wipe the galaxy clean. twisted

PS:I'm not a IoM or 'Nid player.I use Harliquins.
