Has anybody else noticed that a lot of flutes switch to french horn?
I've played flute since 3rd grade, until I switched halfway thorugh freshman year. Now, I'm section leader in band and marching band.
Do flutes just dig the horn? Cause I do! XD

I've been playing french horn for about 4 years and it's great! I used to play trumpet, but I switched my freshman year and I love it! I've been section leader for the past 2 years. I just love the sound the french horn makes.

I unfortunately don't play the French horn, but I want to try it next year. I can't do it this year because my band director doesn't want anyone switching instruments this year, but the band director I will have next year will surely let me play it since he has a brass obsession.

Yaaay horns! biggrin I just played in a concert today, and on one of the songs I play horn. I was so scared, but I rocked! Yaaaay!

I've played the horn since I started it 6 years ago. I am involved in an out-of-school band called EnCORE. It's a band at the state college, made up of ALL French Horns. The first year I was in it we played music from the Harry Potter movies. Last year we played the themes from the Star Trek series (that performance was amazing!!) and this year we played the music from the old Superman movies.

French Horns are sweet, Im in middle school and I can't wait to march next year...Are the marching horns good?

I have been playing for 8 years. that's 4 years before middle school. And i'm only a freshman. I'm section leadrer and lovin' it! heart

I have played the French Horn since I was in sixth grade, and I just graduated college. I love playing it, it has a beautiful sound and the best way I have to express myself creatively. I am so glad there is a guild for us band nerds!!

i have been playing the french horn for three years now... almost four. i have noticed that trumpet is harder than french horn, or it is for me anyway...

i'm only in beginning band and i LOVE the fench horn. i also play the clarinet whenr i have time.

I love my F Horn and Mellophone, I've played them both for 7 years! Now i'm a senior and I have just half a year left in high school. I am the only high school french horn and mellophone player and The only other one I know of in our school system is in the 6th grade! It sucks! sad

I actually started out on the Alto Sax in 6th grade. My freshman year we had like....8 alto saxes, so my band director put me on the french horn part and then told me to switch instruments completely, and then proceeded to yell at me when I got parts wrong. o__O
I hated that woman, but making me switch to French horn was probably the best thing she ever did. I kept marching alto until my Junior year, and the new director made me section leader with the switch. I also sat first chair last year. I'm not too sure what chair I'm sitting this year because Symphonic band hasn't started yet. I'm on winter break, so I'll find out when I go back to school, but I hadn't played my horn since my high school graduation...so my chair audition sucked some major a**. sweatdrop
