Cale Darksun So, if they're so good, Sky, then why have I yet to see a Jedi pilot use one in SWTOR? My guess; because the more new ship designs they pump out the more toys they can sell.
Also, from a game standpoint, new ship designs help to set their era apart from previous ones, keeping the content feeling fresh.
But since I don't play the game, I use Wookiepedia for much of my knowledge of the era and it's tech, as I do in most Star Wars RP's. Provides a stable, reliable framework that is as accurate to the source material as its community of editors can get it.
To compromise, we could just say that the most recent model of Aureks and other older designs are decent starfighters, but the starfighters shown in TOR (such as the Talon-class) are the top-of-the-line military models that are cheaper, easier to maintain, and much more suitable for the kind of mass deployment shown in SW battles.

Oh that thing. Forgot about that one, its been a while since Balmora. I think it might be too small though to carry two pilots and thirteen passengers though.
Anyway, SKye, EK has granted me access to a squad, I'll be bringing them in via shuttle to reinforce you on the mountain, sent you a PM about it, did it go through?

Supply.
An NR2 will suffice.

If it was like a cruiser or something, i'd probably agree. skyhopper supplies, probably not as limited. But whatever floats your ice cream.

I dont see why a Jedi would ask for multiple craft to transport himself and a single squad of troops to the same location from the same location. I mean, strategically, I see why not to put all your eggs into the same carton, but... There is no real risk unless this mountain is heavily fortified.
Even then, we can dip down low in the pursuit and approach on foot up the mountain as Khyber is doing.

The Imps probably have air superiority.

Because of there being a higher supply of aircraft rather than spacecraft? I dunno, why don't you ask why the Rebels didn't use X-wings on Hoth instead of airspeeders?
The cost of a single airspeeder is about 1/10th the cost of a single spacecraft. Which is exponentially increased with size. So to answer your question: Why would a jedi ask for a single, expensive craft, when multiple, cheaper, available craft could be present too?
This is all hypothetical though. Until you actually explain what the need is for, honestly, the discussion pretty much floats on the reasoning of "what if".

The shuttle is used as a troop transport and I'm using it because it was made available for the way its being and meant to be used. It has heavy armour and two decent looking twin-laser turrets.
And if this is early into the conflict, the Imps may still be fighting off PDF air craft. And even so, late into the evening on a planet where planet-wide lightning storms are common, Im sure there is a time when flights have to be grounded. Im making note of this factors in my post.

So if I take the Talon with no hyperdrive then I get a Thranta-class corvette to haul my starfighter and me around from conflict to conflict with.

Somehow I doubt the Jedi council and the senate would grant you your own corvette.

A task unit, of a larger flotilla, more than likely.
