“Ah! Kia Ora!” He said with relief at the familiar greeting. He offered a hand in return, cautious because of confusion but grateful nonetheless to find a friendly face, and with really admirable tattoos. “Zachary.” He said fumbling for a moment with his own name, distracted by the handsome designs. “Zac, Zac Wiremu.” “I’m a little…” He started and waved his hand vaguely. Confused, confused was the world he was looking for but it was embarrassing to say. He felt like an outpatient at a hospital who just needed a surgical gown and an inconvenient IV drip. “God it’s good to have a familiar greeting though.”

"Welcome to Deus Ex Machina island!"
Welcome? Who was that and why did she sound like someone she knew? Nellie slid out of the pod to take a tentative step towards the pink figure whom she presumed was the source of the familiar voice, stopping after just a few steps to try to steady herself when her legs began to quiver and threaten to suddenly give out on her.
"Lilac..?"
A surprised squeak when the other female closed the remaining distance between them to throw her arms around her in a hug. The blurry images finally gaining enough focus to reveal that she was in the company of one Lilac Larkspur who was part of her family. A smile blossomed on her face almost immediately as soon as she recognised the other to be her cousin, her arms lifting to cling onto the other as she drew her close to her buxom for yet another hug.
"Lilac's really really here! Nellie's so very happy!"

Arorangi grasped the hand of the young man and shook it firmly, his cheerful smile still in place. "Zac Wiremu, I am pleased to meet you!" he said brightly. "You are the first to awaken today, and I have heard that not many awaken at a time, so you are on your own! But fear not, my friend, I will help you to learn where to go!"
He recognized the look of confusion and vague dizziness that stemmed from first entering the island, since Arorangi had only been awakened not long ago himself. He patted Zac reassuringly on the shoulder, gripping it for a moment as though to steady him.
"It is okay, mate!" he said cheerfully. "You will be okay!"
Then the rest of what he had said hit him - combined with the more subtle, but clearly still there accent - and the smile on Arorangi's face widened to the point where it was probably almost blinding.
"Ah!" he cried. "Ah, friend, are you perhaps a Kiwi like myself? I am from Auckland! Where are you from, mate?"

He let out a startled laugh and nodded. “Aukland!” He said and pumped Arorangi’s hand up and down like he meant to wrench it free of his shoulder with enthusiasm. Bloke like you is the last thing I was expecting when I popped out of these here… well I don’t know what to call them. “…A…are we in the states?” “I… I did Tattoo, for Pakeha as often as not, but I do like yours, then… then I wake up here, and all I can remember is, something about hunters, and a test right? Well, death too but, I dun thin I’m dead, if I am this is the blimin strangest heaven or hell I think I could have conjured.”

Finn was not a fan of pod duty, but then, Finn wasn't really a fan of any of the duties he found himself delegated to on a daily basis. Today had been a particularly boring one, however, the time of his shifts ends crawling ever closer at the speed of a snail travelling uphill through liquid tar. Bored out of his mind, and after doing several checks down the long hallways of pods, he was now sitting at a small table, head in hand as he stared at the clock on the wall. Almost over now. Just a few minutes to go. In fact, as soon as his shift relief arrived, he planned on taking off just as soon as humanly possible. chimarii I figured Chel could be his shift relief and just show up I hope thats okay <3

She felt herself stirring from slumber, but it was the rush of cold air and the intrusion of bright light that did the remnants of sleep in. Claude snapped fully awake with a start, and stumbled out of the pod she had been occupying. The young woman sucked in a deep breath as her legs struggled to keep herself upright in the alleyway between pods, and her hands shot up to clutch her head. Oh, <********>. She clenched her eyes shut with a soft hiss. This was like some kind of hang over but worse-- Wait. Her head snapped back up, and she ran her hands through her wild and unkempt bed head as she took in her surroundings with narrowed eyes. What the-- Wait-- She had done it, she had gone through what she needed to and-- Lex. "... Hello?" She called out.

For once, Finn didn't even try to stop his eye from rolling when Chelsea came strolling on in, standing up abruptly from his spot at the table with the scraping of chair legs against the floor. "Excellent, I'm so glad somebody who knows just what they're doing has arrived for babysitting the vacant eyed potential island prisoners." He picked up the clipboard that had been on the table in front of him, and all but shoved it towards Chelsea's chest, letting go of it whether or not she grabbed a hold. He was just about to leave. It was only ten minutes before the end of his shift, anyways, and nobody would miss him, when he heard it. The hiss of air that accompanied a pod door opening. The faint sound of movement followed by a voice, this one clearly feminine. Finn paused in his steps, turning to cast a look towards Chelsea, wondering if he could still get away with just leaving..... No. No it was definitely too risky. He had to write down the time of awakening, a time that happened on his shift. He really did not need to give the superiors more reason to scrutinize him. Doubling back, he reached out to swipe the clipboard back, and without a word to the newly promoted hunter, made his way towards where he heard the voice. Ah, there. Finn glanced at the pod, it's number, then down to his clipboard, flipping through pages, a gloved finger sliding over a list of names.... "Claude." He said, glancing back up, a single cold brown eye coupled with an skull and cross bones eye patch that hid his empty eye socket taking in the sight of her, the...incredibly tall sight of her. "s**t. You're a tranny, aren't you?"

Was there even anyone here? This whole room was like something out of Alien. Claude's eyes skimmed all the pods around her, followed by the one she had just stumbled out of. Damn. This was like some sort of sci-fi flick...oh, look, it even had her name in the pod. To think she'd been sleeping in that for who knew how long-- Claude's head snapped around as she heard foot steps. Oh good, life. The first person she got a look at in this strange place though...equally looked like something out of a film...or a video game...or both. Was he wearing an eye patch? Did he think he was a pirate? He almost looked like one to-- She stiffened as he stated her name, and she was about to ask if he knew this person she was looking for until--Oh well then... "I can drop my pants to prove otherwise you're at the perfect height--eye level." She moved towards him, a bit stiffly, and her tone had an edge to it "Hey. I'm looking for some one. Is there a Lex--" A feeling of anticipation was building as she started the question. " Is there an Alexei Jamil here?"

It was par for the course with Finn, speaking before really thinking through anything that was about to come out of his mouth. Not that it really mattered to him, since he really didn't seem to give a s**t who his words might hurt or insult in the process, and besides that, he was pretty damn sure that this woman wasn't exactly a woman. He had experience with these things. ............ Don't ask. But he wasn't judging or anything. In fact, he could appreciate how well put together "she" was regardless, and didn't bother to hide the fact that, despite her freakish height, he was enjoying what he was seeing. Bed head aside. "Would you?" He practically purred, tapping a pen he had dug out of his pocket against the paper before scribbling in a bit of information. "Perhaps a bit later, darling. Room 178. I'll get you a key cut." He smirked as he looked back up to her, though a slight frown creased his features at her question. Alexei Jamil? Lex? It rang a bell....faintly. A relation of hers, perhaps? Another who had joined the life of hunterdom? If so, it could have very well been somebody who was still stuck in a pod. He gave his head a small shake. "Fraid not, sweetheart. Anyways, before you go worrying about other people, I think you'd better start worrying about yourself. Do you know where you are?" Probably not, those who just woke up were always a bit hazy, but he thought he'd better ask anyways.

Well, this guy was fun. Too bad she couldn't fully appreciate it right at the moment. "How about you just leave the door unlocked." She murmured, and stared down at the Hunter as he continued to speak, having mixed feelings from his answer. Disappointment because he didn't know, but relief at the same time that he didn't flat out tell her 'no'. She needed to ask someone else. She needed to ask other people. She needed a solid answer. "I'm not worried about myself. I'm right where I need to be." She hoped. Her tone seemed assured regardless of her thoughts. "But I'd hate to steal your thunder, so go ahead and tell me."

Finn went back to pretending to busy himself with the paperwork he seemed oh so focused on upon his clipboard. It might have seemed like, for all intents and purposes, he was taking his role very seriously for once. Really, he was just stalling for time. "Wow darling, really, I would love to give you the run down. I mean, nothing would tickle my fancy more it's just that..." He looked up at her, offering a cold smile. "My shift is over. But that's okay, there's a professional here to help you out now. RIGHT CHELSEA?" He called over to the girl (assuming she was shouting distance away, if not, he wouldn't have bothered with the yelling). "She'll take reeaaall good care of you, I'm sure." He turned around to leave, paused, and gave the woman (if that's what she indeed was) a glance over his shoulder, coupled with his usual sadistic smile. "Welcome to the island, gorgeous. The invitation to join me later is, of course, still open~" With not another word, he made his way out, the heels of his boots clicking along the floor at a clipped pace as he made his exit.

Chel slapped Finn upside the head with a clipboard. "Sure I can start the tour. This is Finn. He's a complete dumbass, and terrible in bed." Well Chel had never actually slept with Finn. She just assumed, because he was an a*****e. "Also, not that I'm opposed, but attempting to get laid in front of another person and not inviting them is pretty rude."
She turned to Claude with a brighter smile and threw her arm around the girl's shoulder. "Hey there kiddo. Welcome to the island of magical wonder. This is Deus Ex Academy." Chel was probably the worst person to leave this to, considering she hated this place. But she blew a kiss in Finn's leaving direction nonetheless and continued on. "And yeah, Finn's kinda right. Don't go searchin' for people. You won't be happy when you find 'em." Chris had certainly turned out in the worst possible way.
"Why don't you tell me what you know and we'll go from there sugartits." Poor Claude. Poor, poor Claude.

Oh, well then. Claude didn't say anything as Finn decided it was time to go, though a bit of a smirk pulled at her lips at his parting words before he left. Oh...damn. Short, dark and handsome never gave her his name-- But the other...person...who she was apparently left with, did have it. Chelsea was her name, huh? She snorted as she ranted, and raised a brow as the girl slung an arm around her shoulder. While Chel continued on, Claude, lifted the girl's arm and pulled it off of her, letting it drop. "I appreciate your concern, I think, but I'll be the judge on what's good for me or not, and I'll ask, do you know if there's an Alexei Jamil here?" She paused. She honestly didn't want a tour, she wanted to get going now... "Enough. How do I get out of here?" Claude figured she could learn as she went.

Arorangi was, needless to say, completely and utterly thrilled to have found someone else of the same nationality as he was on the island. So thrilled, in fact, that he flung his massive arms around Zac's shoulders and gave him what was probably a bone crushing hug, slapping his hand on his back enthusiastically.
"Then we are brothers, mate!" Arorangi said brightly as he pulled away. "I am glad you are here! It is good to have some familiarity when you come to a new place, is it not? We are not in the States, no - I have no idea where we are, except on an island!"
Arorangi swept his dreads away from his face and beamed. "I have many tattoos, as you can see!" he said, brandishing one heavily decorated arm. "I will have to tell you their stories later. But first, friend! You are here on Deus Ex Machina, you are not dead. We fight monsters here, demons, and such! You are here to help us keep the human world safe from these creatures!"
