Well my Japanese friends and their families are alive, and the tsunami did next to nothing in California (aside from Crescent City), so I am much happier today ;x
I can't believe I stayed up until 9am to watch it hit the Bay Area, and all that happened was some stupid boats in Santa Cruz sunk. I know I should be happy that we did not get damaged. . . but I stayed up sooo late/early ><
All right kids, time to get the opening ceremony rolling~

I was worried sick about my grandparents...I mean, if my dad was watching the news, he probably would have driven to LA with my family and pull me out of my concert. Which was a pretty big deal considering that it was planned for months and my Band director would have strangled me if I dropped out.
On a happier note, my music concert was pretty awesome/went well/ I got a brownie!

Man, someone told my Japanese friend that it was karma that caused this tragedy in Japan, and made her even more sad.

The tectonic plates are too active near Japan, sadly there is a reason 'tsunami' is a Japanese word.
I believe the person meant karma, as in they some how brought this upon themselves by their behavior. It is similar to the idiots who said Haiti got what they deserved, likening their African religion to devil worship. People can sometimes be such idiots, we know through science why things happen, people don't need to blame 'angry gods' like the poor fools did at the dawn of civilization.
