I've felt a portion of that going on DeviantART, Judyfay. I think it's become more...that I've accepted that I'm no where near whatever Godly level these people have achieved and I'm not sure if I'm ever meant to reach it. I've moved on to where I know that everyone is different, and therefore everyone is somewhere else in ability than I am. I don't take most of my stuff seriously to so much as pretend to compare it to the work of others! xd
Though, if you do want others to feel about your work the way you do about someone else's you have to believe in it first. Humanity is a huge flock of sheep and we all follow a leader of some kind or another. Establish that, and you're part-way there. whee

So I was lookin at the faces behind the editors thread and got to thinking about names. I was wondering what inspired everyones user name> why do you call yourself what you call yourself, what's the story behind it?

Mine has a somewhat strange history.
When I was about 18, my cousin dragged me to his church youth group. I wasn't too excited about it because at the time I was somewhat of a shut in, but a few of my best friends went to it, so I along. I was never very religious, but after the welcome I got there, and all the socializing, and all the friends I made, I started going all the time. Eventually I got pretty serious about christianity, and one day a friend of mine was speaking while the pastor was out of town, and he brought up the "W.W.J.D" or, What Would Jesus Do slogan that was all over the place. Well He said "I have a better question for you. What did Jesus do?" And I got to thinking about it pretty hard. Jesus died for your sins, is what I thought to myself.

Because at the time I was only recently cleaned up from a past of heavy drug use, combined with my A.D.H.D, I still had a very short attention span, and my mind tended to wander quite a bit. So I started brainstorming that phrase. "Jesus died for your sins" It didn't take long for me to shorten it to JDFY Sins. I have to mention at this point that I was trying to get a couple friends to start a christian rock band, I had several musician friends, and I thought that JDFY Sins would be a cool band name. No one else really saw the genius in it, but I just had such an attachment to it that I locked it away in my brain to save for later. And eventually I made a Screen Name "JDFY Sins"

The problem arose when no one could pronounce it. Everyone got confused as to what it said, or was supposed to mean. So I would tell them that if you said it phonetically, it was Judyfay Sins. And eventually, I changed it to Judyfay Sins, to clear up all the confusion.

As time went by and things changed in my life, I grew further and further from the friends I had at church, and eventually, reached a point where I had no so much lost my faith, as turned away from it. Not because I doubted it, but because it didn't make life any easier, or better, and the former glory of it just wasn't there anymore. I still had the same beliefs, but stopped living life following them. So Judyfay Sins went from meaning "Jesus Died For Your Sins" to something less glorious, somthing far more cynical. It was a title, proclaiming my lack of moral standing. I was Judyfay, and I was a Sinner.

Most interesting though, was what I found later. I did a bit of research, and found that with a bit of poetic license, my name "Judyfay Sins" meant "The Raven of God who has fallen from the light" So now, even though it may be a bit dramatic, and even though people always ask why I have a "girls" name, I am very much attached to it. It is a name that has seen me through the best and worst of myself.

Anyway, that's probly more of a story than was needed, but I just thought it would be interesting for everyone to share why it is they use their names.

EDIT: Wow, that is longer than I though stare I almost feel embarassed.

The story behind my name isn't quite as interesting as Judyfay Sins', but I'll share it anyways.

In college I had made a friend who began calling me cynbaby.

Now my real name is Cynthia. Cynthia gets quickly shortened to Cyndi. Cyndi gets quickly shortened to Cyn.

So when this kid started calling me cynbaby it just kind of stuck.

For some reason, my old character, Spike Chinisle, got called Dragon O.o
Then one day I read the announcment that Gaia will be movin to Gaiaonline.com. I refresh the page, and it asks me to log in. Usual for Gaia at the time. Invalid details eek "********!!"
So yeah, thgat account somewhat died. A month later I decided that I wasnt getting my accoutn back, so lets make a new one. "Now a name....." Well I was occasionaly called Dragon, so I thougth Dragon revenger, cause Im gonna seek revenge on the Admins for takin away 64k+ Then I relised who n00bish that was-to attempt revenge upon tha Admins o.O- so I uh.. yeah.... here I am...

I was just thinking while reading your entry, and you know you can rename yourself without losing your inventory. Maybe you could be like... "Freakishly Unique" or somthing, heh.
